Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 1045: Chapter 17 Chaos Fruit [Second Update]

”Lord! Boss?!”

Kama shouted into the communicator, but there was no response at all.

Everyone in the entire fleet exchanged worried glances.

It was unexpected that just a mere five thousand kilometers would render Jia Yan and their communicators inoperative.

”The quantum entanglement of the quantum communicator is still intact, yet there is no response at all. Impossible.” The soldier in charge of communication was getting anxious as he persistently tried to make adjustments, but still, there was no response.

”Could it be that Souwu deceived the Lord?” Mo Ke said gravely from the side.

”You’re the one deceiving the Lord. How could that old monster do such a thing?!” Kama pointed at his head as he spoke.

A flash of discomfort crossed Mo Ke’s eyes. Although he held back for the moment, if there was still no message from Jia Yan, it was uncertain what he might do.

The entire fleet was greatly shaken just because of a temporary interruption in Jia Yan’s communications, showing just how significant Jia Yan’s usually inactive but highly deterrent leadership role was within the Giant Mosquito Fleet.

Fortunately, this was just the beginning. Even though the fleet was somewhat shaken, no one truly believed that something bad had happened to Jia Yan, so after a few words from Kama, everyone gradually calmed down.

”There must be nothing wrong with the Boss, let’s just wait. Souwu has been with us for so long, he wouldn’t harm the Boss,” Kama muttered to himself.

...

Meanwhile, within the cloudy region.

”Hmm? Why can’t I contact Kama?” Jia Yan also noticed the anomaly.

”My Lord, it is like this here. Did I forget to tell you? Ah, it’s all because I’m getting too old,” Souwu seemingly just realized his mistake.

Jia Yan looked faintly into the other’s eyes but did not notice anything unusual.

”If I fly up a bit, I could contact Kama and the others, right? Hmm...” Jia Yan wanted to try flying upwards, but as he reached a certain height, his whole body shuddered!

”How is this possible?! What is this?” His body could not ascend any further, which genuinely surprised Jia Yan.

”Lord, I told you the first time we met. The mysterious place I know of prohibits flying, and that was also why I was happy to see you, a flying being at the time... However, I didn’t expect your strength to increase so quickly. Of course, the stronger you are, the more you can help us on this journey,” Souwu said seemingly innocently.

”You?...” Jia Yan tried to fly back the way he came.

But he looked back with some confusion. Although the area was illuminated by the ground’s Scale-shining Stones, they only lit up an area of about one kilometer in radius; farther places were shrouded in a foggy haze.

Jia Yan tried flying back while Souwu waited in place.

Before long, Jia Yan returned feeling somewhat icy at heart...

”Souwu, what do you really mean?” He looked at Souwu, and the expression in his Compound Eyes was exceedingly icy, suggesting that one wrong word from the other party might lead him to kill!

”My Lord, I really didn’t mean any harm to you. I just want to survive, and in doing so, I withheld some information from you. I apologize.” Souwu’s aged face still looked utterly calm, almost as if he was a completely different creature from the crazy Souwu from before.

To Jia Yan, no matter how one looked at it, the original Souwu seemed more likable.

The icy feeling in his heart was because when he had returned, he couldn’t find the way back in the mist at all!

His sense of direction had vanished in this region; knowing that Jia Yan could discern Earth’s location from space, he had once navigated back to Earth from Mars, yet he got lost in this tiny region!

”Tell me, what have you hidden from me, and what exactly is your purpose in bringing me here?” Despite the strong murderous intent in Jia Yan’s heart, he needed to obtain useful information from the other party at this moment. Only now he realized the magical aspects of this mysterious region; even his sense of direction was off. If there was indeed any danger, he could really be in peril.

”Lord, there isn’t much that I’ve concealed from you. Firstly, this mysterious place has not been visited by only me. Those who came in with me are all dead. Killed by me. Hehehe.” Souwu said calmly.

”Killed by you?!” A flash of surprise flickered through Jia Yan’s compound eyes.

”Yes, killed by me. There’s another thing I’ve concealed. I didn’t come here for the Life-Extension Stone. Life-Extension Stones can be found plenty elsewhere, not just here. What I truly seek in this place is something even more miraculous. What it is, I’ll keep a secret for now. You’ll know when you see it.” Souwu’s demeanor grew even calmer.

”Heh, do you think at this point, I would still collaborate with you? Do you think I wouldn’t kill you and find my own way out?”

Jia Yan’s ponderous mosquito body gently stepped forward!

The entire space seemed to shake due to his step, the surrounding mist dissipating quite a bit, though it quickly gathered again.

”You won’t kill me because if you try to find your own way out, who knows how long it would take. You might even end up dead without finding a way. Moreover...”

Souwu’s voice carried a different undertone, accompanied by the sound of his speech, an energy sense also gradually emanated from within his body.

”Moreover, I believe you wouldn’t be able to kill me. However, I am surprised by your strength. If it were a drawn-out battle, this old man might be dragged to death by you, but within this area, I can escape into the mist, and then you won’t be able to find me,” he said casually.

Jia Yan felt a surge of anxiety from the oppressive display of strength by Souwu. Under his observation, Souwu’s strength had skyrocketed at an incredible pace to the Peak of Starry Sky, even faintly touching the threshold of breaking through the Star Space constraints.

”Neither Pinnacle of Starry Sky nor Eternal Star Rank. Are you, a Star Space Honorable?!” Jia Yan asked somewhat uncertain.

”Heh, hardly a dignitary anymore. With my current strength, I might not even match the weakest of the Star Space Dignitaries,” Souwu said with a faint smile.

Jia Yan fell silent for a while. He finally understood that Souwu had been hiding his power right under his nose. If Souwu had intended to kill him when he was weak, he might have died several times over by now.

Moreover, it seemed that some of Jia Yan’s secrets might have also been perceived by the other.

”Lord Jia Yan, you needn’t worry. Though I have deceived you somewhat, my old age is real, and so was the crazed condition I fell into earlier; I did not deceive you about that. Thank you for your care, although I don’t remember much of what happened then,” Souwu said, seemingly easing Jia Yan’s concerns.

Now, Jia Yan dared not trust his words.

”Alright, then tell me, what is it that you want, and what do you want me to do?” Jia Yan slowly flew closer to Souwu.

Souwu, without changing his expression, took a slight step backward.

”Lord, you should understand, as an existence at the Galactic Level Peak, all I want is to break through my realm. For me, it’s worth risking offending a strong one like you to take a gamble. Thus, the thing I want you to help me acquire is an item I’ve named ’Chaos Fruit.’”

”Chaos Fruit?” Jia Yan chewed over the words.

”Yes, Chaos Fruit! Although the Chaos Starfield is seen by major forces as a place where the cost outweighs the benefits, if I release this item, it would certainly enhance the value of this place by more than one level, for the Chaos Fruit, as far as I see, can greatly increase the chances of advancing to Eternal Star Rank!” Souwu said ardently.

”An object that can increase the chance of advancing to Star Space Level, does such a thing really exist?” Jia Yan asked, perplexed.

He had never believed such things existed in the starry sky, and it was not a fantasy novel!

Though he had advanced all this way relying on various substances, the idea of using external objects to advance to Eternal Star seemed rather illusory; Eternal Star was not so simple, even Jia Yan now felt it almost impossible to advance through external means.

”No mistake, Lord Jia Yan, I’m only telling you this. I’ve been a Star Space Honorable for more than two hundred years. Regarding the advancement to Eternal Star Rank, I might not know everything, yet I understand enough, perhaps even more than a typical Eternal Star existence about advancement!”

”According to my analysis, the secret to advancing to Eternal Star Rank is related to the True Energy in our bodies! The Chaos Fruit I mentioned, it can greatly enhance the power of True Energy! Although I’m not sure if it can help a top Star Space Power advance, it definitely aids in advancement, and for someone like me who is just a step away, the help might be even greater!”

”I see, so that’s what Chaos Fruit is. True Energy...” Jia Yan chewed over the words, feeling like he was gaining some insight into his own path.

”Then why do you need my help? I recall when we first met, I was merely an existence in the Early Stage of Star Space, right?” This was Jia Yan’s final question, and it was also the biggest doubt he had about why the other would scheme against him!

”Hehe, before I mention this, I must commend you for your enviable advancement in strength! I, Souwu, have lived nearly a thousand years and have never seen anyone like you who could advance from the Early Stars to the Pinnacle of Starry Sky in just a couple of years, and you still make me feel unbeatable, even though my current strength is less than half of what it was at its peak, I still admire you.”
