Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 1016: Chapter 4: Collision with the Planet!

”The opposing flight squadron is maintaining half the speed of light in a formation parallel to our fleet. At this speed, it’s extremely difficult for both sides to change velocity rapidly, and therefore our distance from them is hard to close.”

Inside the command center of the Kuditian spaceship, Kama gazed at the long-distance monitoring screen with a grave expression. Unlike her lighthearted banter with Jia Yan, she now resembled a true marshal, her presence commanding immense respect from the soldiers around her, marked with a trace of valor.

”However, we do have an advantage. We entered high-speed flight early on and are just decelerating now, while they have evidently just accelerated to half the speed of light, their ship bodies still not adapted to such speed. If we wanted to increase velocity again, we could definitely surpass their acceleration!”

”All hands, head towards area 235a to our left and increase speed by twenty percent. Evade the enemy’s detection!”

On Earth, there’s a concept of fighting with the wind or taking the high ground. Similarly in space fleet battles, there are established rules. For a fleet, engaging the enemy in haste is very disadvantageous. Although there is neither wind direction nor high ground in space, the difference between initial acceleration and subsequent speed is crucial. Some battleships with slower start-up speeds struggle against enemies that have long since reached high velocity.

At this moment, the Giant Mosquito Fleet had already activated extremely high speeds, and even now, they were only reducing speed. A large part of their engines’ effectiveness had yet to be utilized, while the enemy’s more numerous and seemingly more advanced battleships appeared to be running engines at full load, making it unlikely for them to catch up to the accelerating Giant Mosquito Fleet—even with highly efficient engines!

The fleets of the Giant Mosquito advanced at an extremely high velocity, sweeping crazily to one side.

Sure enough, once Kama’s orders were executed, the vast enemy fleet—moving at the speed of light and maintaining the same distance from the Giant Mosquito Fleet—couldn’t respond in time and could only watch helplessly as over a hundred Giant Mosquito battleships vanished from their sight!

”That was close. This is the enemy’s lair; we are outnumbered here and would certainly be at a disadvantage if we engaged in combat. Fortunately, we have the advantage of accelerating first!” said Kama in the command cab, patting her chest with some relief, causing the waves on her chest around two meters in size to undulate.

The Kuditian deputy commander, not much different in size from a typical Earth person, nearly popped his eyes out.

”Still, Marshal Kama’s command artistry is exceptional. Moving in this direction, we are in a blind spot that the detectors can’t easily pick up,” remarked the deputy commander, somewhat admiringly.

Hearing the praise from others, Kama allowed herself a slight smile. ”It’s not so much that my command art is exceptional, but rather that the opposing commander is clearly not a professional. Had they studied space warfare theory systematically, they would know not to launch a surprise attack from this distance without the acceleration right. It seems like Rong Bo is not a very good large-scale battle commander.”

”Alright, our crisis is over, and I should report to Lord Jia Yan,” said Kama, shaking her head and then directly connecting to Jia Yan’s communicator.

”Oh? So this is the advantage of the acceleration right. I’ve read descriptions of it in books before, but I didn’t realize this was what they referred to as the ’acceleration right’. It seems that group battle tactics still involve a lot of theory,” Jia Yan mused after inquiring into the reasons for the previous escape and nodding with some amazement.

He had read up on these topics, but if he had been in the same situation, he doubted he would have made the same command decisions as Kama. After all, theory is just that, and if anyone with a bit of knowledge could command like Kama, then everyone would be at the level of a marshal.

”Anyway, not only is our fleet smaller in number than the opponent’s, but we are also much less familiar with the terrain compared to them. Thus, the best choice is to avoid battle. You did the right thing. Now, let’s quickly get out of this starry sky. Once we put some distance between us, it will be harder for them to find us in the vast star sea than finding a needle in a haystack,” Jia Yan instructed.

Upon receiving Jia Yan’s directions, Kama acknowledged and then closed the communication.

”It seems I can’t be of much help in group battles, especially in ultra-long-distance combat that occurs millions of kilometers away and at half the speed of light. I can’t really get involved!”

After the communication with Kama ended, Jia Yan lay prone on the ground, shaking his head in resignation. Starry Sky Strong Ones, especially High-level Star Space Warriors, can indeed stir troubles in space to a certain extent, but when compared to fleet group combat, they seemed somewhat lacking. Top Starry Sky Strong Ones are not afraid of fleets because they are typically not very large and use their own energy, which current Outer Star detection devices can almost not detect. Once they flee, it is very difficult for a fleet to capture them.

Of course, some Starry Sky High-Order Experts, like Pai Lan, who Jia Yan had encountered before, possess the ability to hide in space. The typical fleet indeed couldn’t easily spot his form. If he were to get close enough to attack, under certain special circumstances, he might even be able to destroy a fleet, showcasing the deterrent power of a top Starry Sky Level Expert!
