If she tries any tricks again, I will really have to kill her!

There won’t be mercy next time!

Both were rocketing towards the south of the planet at a speed close to twice the speed of sound.

Daphne, riding atop Big Mosquito, frequently looked back at their surroundings!

”Just as it was described in the books, but comparing with the planet as I knew it 300 years ago, it has undergone tremendous changes! These areas, the trees have grown denser, yet they are not real trees but the combined bodies of semi-plants and animals created by some organisms!”

The more landscapes Daphne saw, the greater the revelations were in her eyes. Although she was not a native of this planet and had not been in contact with any foreign civilizations except the Earth’s, she had read enough books over the past three centuries. Despite her lack of professional knowledge compared to Auro, the representative of the Auster civilization, she had a longing for Empire culture, so she had read a lot about the so-called Empire!

As for this planet which was part of the Scholz’s star system, she had also read about it. When she first came across the records about this planet in her spacecraft, she almost jumped up because the record said that her Empire and the Auster civilization had engaged in a protracted war lasting over a century on this planet!

The cause of the war was not only because this place was a border region for both parties, but also because it seemed to contain some star-condensing minerals!

Although Daphne didn’t know how much star-condensing minerals were here, it didn’t prevent her from pouring over that information many times! She even learned a lot about the weapons and equipment of the Empire and the Auster civilization, and that was the real reason why she initially regarded Auro, the representative of the Auster civilization, as an enemy!

Fortunately, due to her extensive reading at the time, Daphne was now able to suggest a solution to their predicament while Jia Yan was clueless!

”This Big Mosquito, pressured me into revealing some of the Empire’s secrets back on Earth. If we get to the place mentioned in the books, I’m sure I will find soldiers of the Empire... and afterward, I’ll capture it!”

As Daphne thought about this, a smile flickered across her face. But while she was amused, she recalled that she survived because Jia Yan used his body to shield her from the ripples of the gravitational wave.

”This...” Pondering this, Daphne paused and then gritted her teeth, ”At the very least, I can plead for him. If I present my research on space ripples, I should be able to spare an evolutionary creature’s life, right?!”

With these thoughts, Daphne finally felt resolute.

As for the Big Mosquito she was riding, she finally made up her mind.

They were adversaries but also friends who understood each other. Having experienced so much together, they might have made good friends if their positions weren’t so different!

Unfortunately, their respective statuses destined them to never be true friends, making them exist in a relationship that felt neither entirely hostile nor entirely friendly.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!!——————

Big Mosquito continued to fly tirelessly.

Jia Yan’s body was becoming shaky, and the bluish color on his body was slowly fading after such a long period of wear. Furthermore, the feeling of weakness after the explosion became more intense. Even having no energy supplement made Big Mosquito feel extremely hungry!

”Every time I changed size in the past, I immediately received the next mutation, and my body continued to absorb energy, so I never had to worry about eating. So now, I honestly don’t have a good idea of what to do in this situation,” Jia Yan helplessly felt his body weakening.

This feeling, possibly the first time he had felt so weak and hungry since his rebirth, was incredibly powerful!

Weakness resulted from keeping the bluish defense up for so long, especially as it contended with the gravitational wave ripples! It was a miracle that Jia Yan was able to block such waves, which could annihilate matter directly, with his body!

It was sheer luck that he only felt a bit weak as a result.

As for the hunger, it was a normal phenomenon. Though Jia Yan had always felt hungry, since his first mutation, his body’s energy utilization had gradually improved, so in the later period, he had the terrifying ability to not eat for several months. In the end, all living things required energy, and consumption required replenishment. After his recent mutation, Jia Yan had used up quite a bit of energy, so feeling extremely hungry now was only natural.

Under the strain of these two intense sensations, Big Mosquito’s feeling of fatigue grew stronger!

South it is then, let’s see if there’s a chance to find energy or food along the way...

The fluctuations of the war in the distance slowly faded as Jia Yan and his companion moved further away, until at last they became imperceptible.

All that remained was the endless yellow forest beneath them, along with a few hills and an occasional river.

The two travelers moved through this seemingly endless monotonous landscape without any surprises or notable landmarks popping up along their path.

Gradually, both Big Mosquito and Daphne lost all interest, their gazes focused solely on the landscapes below, their expressions numb.

Even though they were both individuals of rich inner thoughts, as they flew over the endless expanse, they increasingly found it tiresome. The monotonous surroundings of endless grey-yellow color started to slow down their thinking.

Time seemed to stand still...

However, this situation lasted for only about ten hours.

Traveling at speeds above sound, the distance that could be covered in ten hours was terrifying!

Even on this planet, whose surface area far exceeds that of Earth, flying at speeds exceeding those possible on Earth for ten hours brings a very distant location within reach!

Finally, a sprawling cityscape, teeming with buildings and skyscrapers appeared in the view of Jia Yan and Daphne from high above the ground.

Is this...a city?!”

The sight of a large-scale construction group resembling a city, directly surprised Jia Yan, evident from the expression on his ’mosquito’ head!

Indeed!

In the far distance, there seemed to be a huge area distinct from the surrounding landscape. There, skyscrapers rose from the ground, reaching three hundred meters into the sky. Some emblematic bastions stood tall among them, so high that they seemed to penetrate the clouds, as if connecting to the cosmos!

Flying vehicles darted about this area, and some creatures traversed the airspace using their own bodies.

This sight was absolutely an incredible sci-fi city!

This metropolis seemed to be thriving beyond measure, a stark contrast to the dire warzone found thousands of miles away.

This...This...

Jia Yan was truly stunned.

Even though Daphne had mentioned that it was possible for a war-free development zone to exist in the south, he didn’t expect to find such a large-scale science fiction city on such a desolate and peculiar planet.

However, his initial surprise was soon replaced by another thought.

This is an alien city!

I, Jia Yan, am seeing a real, alien-built civilization—a city full of advanced technology and development.

Just a while ago, he was racking his brains on how to evade war, but now he suddenly found himself staring at a prosperous city. This city stretched hundreds of kilometers in diameter, like an oasis in this vast barren planet, it was a sight to behold!

Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!——————

Just as Jia Yan and the equally stunned Daphne, both behaving like country bumpkins seeing a city for the first time, cautiously approached this vast sci-fi city,

A sharp, ear-piercing sound rang out! (To be continued. If you like this work, please support me on qidian.com by voting or subscribing for a monthly pass. Your support means a lot. Mobile users can read on m.qidian.com).
