Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 388: Chapter 20 Twenty Light Years from Earth!?【Seeking legitimate subscription】_1

Jia Yan turned his head and saw Daphne, who had been lying next to him, gently stirring and waking up!

This woman was incredibly hard to kill. Just as she seemed to be on the brink of death, she woke up so quickly!

Jia Yan watched her wake up and suddenly felt hopeful.

Potentially, her awakening could answer many of the questions he had!

If she genuinely helped him escape and return to Earth, even if it meant sparing her life, he might consider it!

Of course, her performance would determine that...

”You’re awake?!” he asked.

Daphne slowly got up. She had been considerably injured these past few days and her face was extremely pale. However, it was hard to see in the darkness, so Jia Yan was unable to see her current condition.

”Where are we?” she asked.

”I was going to ask you the same thing. What the hell did you activate yesterday!” Jia Yan’s compound eyes gaze was indifferent, filled with cold sharpness.

Perhaps Daphne could also see Jia Yan, as she seemed to have the ability to see in the dark.

Once he narrated to her the events of the last two days, she fell silent.

”What you described as a ripple, it was actually a gravitational wave! And no ordinary gravitational wave,” Daphne said.

Her expression was very strange. She was astonished that both she and Big Mosquito were still alive. Even more surprising was the fact that Big Mosquito was powerful enough survive the gravitational wave. She had never imagined such a scenario!

If not for Big Mosquito’s survival abilities, she surely would have also perished during that gravitational wave.

”Gravitational wave? What is that! Is the reason we ended up here your doing?” he inquired.

Jia Yan had limited knowledge of astronomy, so when Daphne mentioned this term, he was utterly befuddled. It seemed like he had never heard about any of the things Daphne was talking about.

”Gravitational waves are a very common phenomenon in the universe. For example, planets orbiting around stars, the rotation of galaxies, or even your body, all produce gravitational waves. However, gravitational waves produced by objects of our size are extremely weak and therefore do not cause major influence,” she explained.

”If the gravitational wave is emitted by a star, then that would be easier to conceptualize! A star has a very large mass and hence emits extremely strong gravitational waves, which causes a massive distortion in the surrounding space. This can be conceptualized as a depression in space. The star is at the centre of the depression, and the planets just orbiting within this space. Although planets traverse in a straight line, they appear to be orbiting the star due to the effect of the gravitational waves.”

”Then you intended to trap me in a gravitational wave? But can you control gravitational waves?”

Jia Yan was quite quick on the uptake, so he didn’t take long to understand the concept of gravitational waves, although it wasn’t a totally new concept to him.

He had learned about gravity and celestial bodies in school before, whose phenomena were all caused by gravitational waves. Therefore, understanding the concept of gravitational waves was not difficult.

”Um...yes,” Daphne hesitated before gritting her teeth and telling him the truth.

”When you caught me, I wanted to use Auro’s research to get you into a gravitational wave. However, it wasn’t a normal gravitational wave phenomenon! It was a ripple from the space itself that Auro had detected. You wouldn’t understand the specifics. Anyway, my intention was to kill you with that gravitational wave. That was my initial plan!”

”Then kill me if you want to!”

Daphne seemed to have given up. Her face was filled with cynicism, a far cry from her previously alluring demeanor when she had referred to Jia Yan as ’Master’!

Jia Yan couldn’t comprehend this woman’s thinking. Even though she claimed to belong to the Empire, she had never set foot on its soil or possessed the identity of a true Imperial citizen in her lifetime!

Despite living for so many years, she could only learn about the Empire through videos and data. After hundreds of years of being unable to communicate with the Empire and unable to get along with Earth people, her longing for the Empire had turned into a deep-seated heartache!

All she’s ever wanted was to serve the Empire and become a normal Imperial citizen. But now that such an event has occurred, there’s no chance of serving the Empire anymore, she has ended up in an unknown place. It is possible that her connection with the Empire is permanently severed. How could she not feel disheartened!

”So, you’re saying that we’ve traveled a great distance via a gravitational wave and ended up on this planet?” Jia Yan didn’t dwell on her final words and continued to ask Daphne.

Daphne too came out of her emotional state.

She took a deep breath, attempting to dismiss her bewildered state swiftly. After all, as someone who’s lived for many years, her ability to self-regulate her emotions was not to be overlooked.

The current situation required her to survive and perhaps a turn of events might occur!

Regaining some composure, Daphne examined her injuries. Having been part of numerous attacks over the past few days, her wounds were considerable. Yet, on the surface, they didn’t seem too severe.

After evaluating her injuries, the woman unsteadily stood up and observed the nearby environment. It was clear that she had the ability to see in the dark!

Big Mosquito laid on the ground, feeling somewhat weak. So, if it were possible for him not to speak, he would choose to remain silent.

Not long after, Daphne turned her attention back to Jia Yan. After taking a look at him, she frowned and looked up at the starry sky.

During this time, she extended her fingers and made many gestures, then she picked up a twig and started sketching on the ground.

After a while...

”I now know where we are.” Daphne’s deep sigh echoed shortly after.

Upon hearing this, Jia Yan was first relieved, regardless of where they were, at least they knew where they were now, which would make things easier!

”This is the Scholz’s star system, a binary star system consisting of one stellar star and a brown dwarf star. The planet we are on might be close to the trajectory of the main star.”

”The distance from here to the Solar System is relatively short, only about twenty light-years. However, with our current capabilities, it would be impossible to return.”

Daphne furrowed her brows, as if a realization struck her: ”I see. The Scholz’s star system was once closely linked to your Solar System about seventy thousand years ago. They nearly collided, and the resulting gravitational waves might have triggered other mutations. Consequently forming a long-lasting ripple near Earth. Auro probably discovered this and sought out this ripple.”

Seeing Daphne seem to have an epiphany, Jia Yan admitted that he didn’t quite understand what she was talking about. After she spent some time studying, he couldn’t help but interrupt: ”So, is there any chance we can return to Earth?”

The pensive woman snapped out of her thoughts.

”Didn’t you hear what I said? I said the Earth is twenty light-years away from us! Even if we had a spaceship like the one before, returning to Earth would take tens or even hundreds of thousands of years at a full-overload state. If you’re thinking of going back on your own, forget it!”

Daphne’s words were blunt, sounds like she was telling Jia Yan to abandon the idea altogether!

However, it seemed like Jia Yan could discern some hidden meaning in her words. This woman’s mood improved the moment she realized they were in the Scholz’s star system.

There must be something she was hiding!

But now there was nothing he could do, he couldn’t force her to talk, right?

Moreover, even if he did force her, she wouldn’t tell him the truth. As for killing her, after hearing her words, Jia Yan no longer had that thought in his mind! (To be continued.
