Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3585  Invalid Actions

Myria stared at Davis, who appeared to be at a loss.

She didnʼt think of blaming him for his ignorance as she was also perplexed as to how such a Divergent could exist. She had heard that Divergents who had time-attributed physiques were extremely difficult to kill as they could control time better than time-attributed heavenly geniuses because they were already Divergents who didnʼt fit into fateʼs machinations.

However, this Time Divergent called Kronos Alistair seemed to be even special among them as he could apparently go back in time to know about the future various times.

That wasnʼt possible as it took an proportional amount or at least, a conservative amount of energy to change things.

To produce a wisp of fire, a little bit of energy was consumed.

Similarly, a minor amount of energy is used to produce a technique, and a major amount of energy is used to unleash a divine technique, and so on.

However, techniques regarding time were different.

Time was connected to the entire universe, so when one tried to slow down time or make it go faster, the energy spent would be directly proportional to the range and the space covered because that was how much the universe spent its energy to forward time in that particular area.

But going back in time? That was a feat that would negate the universeʼs consumption of energy that it used up for its temporal flow so far.

Of course, Myria understood that only Kronos Alistairʼs memories were sent to the past through the physique, so the consumption of energy should be little but regardless, time did go backwards, so there would be a significant amount of energy that needed to be spent and Kronos Alistair could in no way match the energy required to negate the universeʼs temporal progression.

She doubted even an Empyrean could do that.

Therefore, she eventually came to the conclusion that it was due to the connection Kronos Alistair possessed with a higher power, the Time Dimension. It made up for the deficiency of energy, allowing Kronos Alistair to travel back in time without instant repercussions in the form of a divine punishment tribulation.

”Even if he could go back in time, it would be no more than a minute… or up to a few minutes as a rough estimate. If he went any further when faced with foes like you, then the karmic burden that would fall on him would also be significant, but since he didnʼt go back in time further and is communicating with you now to let him go, we can assume that he is incapable of choosing the particular time he could go back.”

”True.” Davis nodded, ”It is not a power that he could control at will and is something that could only be used upon his soulʼs collapse, which means if we could seal his soul physique, we should be able to-”

”Didnʼt you say he is capable of committing suicide as he has a self-destructive inscription over his soul?”

Myria interrupted Davis, causing him to think before he nodded.

”Possibly. It could be a lie as the emotions he exuded at that time were also one of deception. It could be true, but it could also be false, so it is up to me to test it. If I went there with my true body right now, I would be able to capture him easily.”

”The Time Divergent wants to concede.” Myriaʼs voice became solemn, ”If you go too far and he somehow escapes, we will have one heck of an enemy we wouldnʼt be able to defeat easily unless we use the apex treasure.”

”Indeed…” Davisʼs lips curled, ”But I already killed him two times. Who is to say that he wouldnʼt take revenge when given a chance?”

”That is up to you and him to decide now.”

Myria heaved a light breath, reaching out her hand to grab his hand, ”Remember, I will follow your decisions but that kind of enemy is something I would avoid at all costs. There is a reason time travel is a taboo while reincarnating people is still somewhat doable with less punishment.”

”…”

Davis gazed at Myria before he nodded his head.

He was ninety-nine percent confident he could completely kill Kronos Alistair, but the problem was that it would invite a Divine Punishment Tribulation, causing him to be kicked out, perhaps even alone. He imagined the World Master had already run out of patience, so there would be no more chances.

There was much to gain, but the risk was equally high.

Thinking about gains, Davis wondered as to why he killed Kronos Alistair two times without incurring a blood debt, much less a direct offense. It didnʼt sound like the other party offended him and even ran away the second time without putting up a fight.

ʼNo way… did I become too greedy for the comprehension of his Time Laws…?ʼ

Davis wondered if he had murdered Kronos Alistair twice to eliminate a future threat or because he was greedy for the comprehension of Time Laws that he could obtain by reaping his soul essence, not to mention the karmic virtue of killing a Divergent.

However, if he let Kronos Alistair leave and allowed him to become a future threat, then it would become even more difficult to kill him, which left Davis wondering what to do, but with just greediness, Davis was unsure if he would walk the path of true evil.

Perhaps the others who blamed Divergents were right. They would eventually walk the path of evil, but more than anything, it could be said he finally understood the emotion of normal people wanting to kill heavenly geniuses before they grew to be a menace.

There has never been an enemy whose potential he was afraid of, even now, but he finally became uneasy about the Time Divergent, who possessed immense potential.

However, was Kronos Alistair really an enemy?

Looking at Kronos Alistair through the eyes of his avatar, Davis opened his mouth after a long pause.

”You say I killed you two times. How do you suppose we take care of this offense?”

”I donʼt mind.” Kronos Alistair quickly spoke as though he had been waiting, ”It could be said I went after one of your people, so your retaliation was on point, and justice was served. However, Iʼm taking a step back now and confessing to my crimes, displaying sincerity, so if you attacked me in this encounter, I would really consider it as an insult to my existence and force me to be enemies with you. I donʼt want that because I respect you, senior.”

”…”

Davis raised one of his brows as he glared at Kronos Alistair.

Every time the other party called him senior, senior, he could indeed feel the respect. It was not a lie according to his Heart Intent, but that didnʼt mean he condoned Kronos Alistairʼs actions or that Kronos Alistair wouldnʼt attack him.

But to be fair, he didnʼt find a massive amount of karmic sin on Kronos Alistair either, so it was hard to think that he was irredeemable.

Still, Davis was finding it hard to let go of Kronos Alistair as he really wanted the comprehension of Time Laws, but without the physique, he doubted he could access the Time Dimensionʼs power, which would make him unable to go back in time.

”Donʼt act so sincere.” Davis narrowed his eyes, ”Your sincerity comes from the fact that you can redo the past, making your actions invalid.”

”…” Kronos Alistair didnʼt look amused, ”That is not-”

”Still, Iʼll consider your words and make a decision.”

Davis interrupted before leaning closer, ”Enter a binding with me that states that you will never threaten me or my family unless I move against you first. You shall not also target my friends and allies nor commit willful evil.”

”Wha-”

”If you agree, we will part ways.” Davis pressed on, ”If not, weʼll continue this for a few more encounters before we try again, but my patience is limited, so if I find out that you didnʼt accept my deal before, I might forgo your plea and end up killing you again and again till you can no longer survive, much less dare to undergo your Empyrean Stage Tribulation.”

”…”

Kronos Alistairʼs expression churned as he clenched his teeth.

How could he accept this sort of deal that was pinned against him? It made him mad. However, he tried to calm down and threw his own condition.

”In exchange, you will promise to help me when I need you, senior.”

Davis raised his brows, ”Depends on who you are like. Considering you tried to violate a queen of a magical beast race, I can only imagine how many women you pressed down, and I vehemently hate such beings that I should cut you down without-”

”Ridiculous!” Kronos Alistair stood up, roaring, ”I havenʼt done such a thing in all my life as I owe my life to my mother! I told you I looked forward to making Queen Nadija my wife and making a family with her!”

”…”
