Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3560  Incarnations

”…”

Myriaʼs gaze did not leave Davis. She was silent for a few seconds before she floated up and moved away.

”Follow me.”

She said, causing him to stand up and follow. Eventually, she led him to her bedroom and sat comfortably on the bed, inviting him inside as she patted her side, indicating for him to sit beside her.

”…”

It sent mixed signals to Davis, making him wonder if his innocent Myria was horny or not.

However, her expression didnʼt seem that way, so he accepted her invitation and sat beside her, causing her to wrap her arms around his arm and snuggle with him, becoming even more comfortable.

”For discussions like this, I feel it is better to hold each other and talk about it.”

”Myria…” Davisʼs lips curled, ”I wonʼt just walk away when I precisely come here to talk about it, no matter how uncomfortable it may be.”

”Still, I want you to feel I wonʼt let go before we even begin.”

”…”

Davis looked at Myriaʼs limpid eyes. Her black pupils were always beautiful, enchanting ones like they were falling to the depths of a comfortable abyss, but those same pair of orbs were extra beautiful today in his eyes.

He couldnʼt help but lean and give her a light kiss for looking so cute.

Myria also pecked him before she turned to look away, ”Before we start, Iʼd like you to look from my own perspective since it might be difficult for you to understand.”

”Alright…”

”Mirei Raos, Fei La, Cavie Nost…”

Davis nodded with some interest when suddenly Myria threw out some names, causing Davis to blink.

”They are my first three incarnations, having their own soul and lives like Ellia did…”

”Oh- are we getting into your past?”

Davis was intrigued, but Myria shook her head, ”Not exactly.”

”I consider these three my children, and I let them live their lives as they pleased, only advising them on certain occasions. I was content to look at their lives and wish them a happy life, but when Mirei Raos died, I was anguished. Then, I reincarnated and created Fei La, who then also died, even though I wished her the same. This continued all the way up until Cavie Nost, and I began to notice a pattern, that my children were losing their lives in a tragedy before they could enter the Nascent Soul Stage.”

”I noticed it could be because I could be reborn into their bodies at that very moment and possibly devour their souls. From then on, I refused to see them as my children and more of like… my clones meant to rebirth me. However, seeing them as one thing and feeling about them was another thing, so I continued to do my best to support them. However, as more incarnations of mine kept dying, I started to fade.”

Myriaʼs voice was dull, still continuing, ”At least my consciousness began to fade. Perhaps I was afraid and didnʼt want to see those tragedies anymore, or perhaps too many incarnations have burdened my soul, disallowing me to be on the surface… so everything became hazy and I couldnʼt see much but feel.”

”And since I figure they all embody your innocence like Ellia, they were easily fooled… betrayed?”

Davis asked, causing Myria to go silent before she nodded, ”Many times.”

”During my innumerable incarnations, I witnessed many things. Allies become enemies, and enemies become allies. Although the latter was few, I still held some semblance of hope until my Eternal Life Soul created Rya Kelas. By that time- no, even long before her, I stopped counting the number of incarnations I had since everyone kept dying, so I donʼt know her birth number. I could barely witness their lives, and Rya Kelasʼs life couldnʼt be any more foolish.”

”Is hers one of those lives where you had to forcibly terminate it for your own safety?”

”I did terminate my incarnations to protect my body from being sullied, but this one is different, just the opposite. I gave this incarnation, Rya Kelas, full autonomy over her body and was even prepared to get sullied since I thought salvation lay in death because death would also be a release.”

”…!?”

Davisʼs brows raised, but he didnʼt interrupt her. He waited for Myria to explain further, and she did.

”Rya Kelas was a bright girl, just like Ellia. She grew into a fine woman, and by the time she was an adult, she had a man whom she loved dearly, but that man ended up becoming her brother-in-law.”

”Wait… she was adopted into this so-called Kelas Family?” Davisʼs brows squinted in doubt.

”She was, yes.” Myria nodded, ”All my incarnations ended up being adopted as a baby or starving to death or getting eaten by a wild magical beast. The tragedies are endless but for Rya Kelas, her end was so foolish that it snapped me, causing me to become the white witch you know…”

ʼSo it wasnʼt because she was hunted down in the true immortal world…ʼ Davis thought, lamenting over the tragedies that befell her incarnations.

Myria did say once that her incarnations were born from a worldly phenomenon and not from a mother and father, but for those babies to get eaten or starve to death was simply even more depressing to hear.

”What happened?” He probed her.

”Of course. You couldʼve guessed what happened since tragedies tend to befall me and my incarnations. Rya Kelas loved her elder sister dearly, enough to sacrifice her own love for her brother-in-law. However, the elder sister knew Rya Kelasʼs childhood crush and feared she would steal her husband and decided to poison her since Rya Kelas was powerful as a Second Stage Cultivator. The brother-in-law did save Rya Kelas, even going as far as to administer the same poison to his wife so she would experience the same agony because he also had feelings for her.”

”…?”

Davis blinked, wondering what kind of drama this was as he expected something earth-shattering to happen. However, Myria continued.

”Rya Kelas ended up hating her brother-in-law to death because of this matter. However, she couldnʼt bring herself to punish or kill either one of them for their actions.”

”She ultimately felt responsible for this matter— that she had seduced her brother-in-law and made her elder sister do vile things to protect her own progenies and, as a result, committed suicide. I didnʼt even do anything. I hadnʼt even spoken to her once in that life, wishfully thinking she might somehow break through this ill-fated repeat of tragedies, but- all was in vain.”

”Thatʼs when I knew for a fact that no matter what I did or did not, it would be fruitless. I was cursed. Eternal Life Soul? More like an Eternal Cursed Soul that can never die and can only watch other people live in your stead for a short period of time. I already hated the world, but at that point, I began to lose hope, sinking into despair as I feared that I would never be able to come out. If everything was against me, I might as well eradicate everything in my sight— I had reached such a conclusion.”

”…” Davisʼs lips parted as he heard Myriaʼs heartfelt words. There was even some slight anger in those words.

”No wonder you were so hateful, and that was directed at me when you finally reborn into Ellia…” He also understood that Myria mightʼve feel he was using Ellia instead of genuinely nurturing her and hence, the abnormal hate towards him.

”Yes…” Myria finally turned to look at Davis, her eyes teary as she shook her head, ”But that is not what I wanted to say…”

”What I wanted to say is— People are foolish.”

”...”
