Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3568  The Ten Commandments

”The Patriarch will announce ten commandments that must be followed at all times. These words will be etched onto the legacy scroll by Lea.”

Mingzhi smiled brightly while Davis finally landed on the center, clasping his hands in greetings before he shot a look at Lea, who had moved to another place where a huge scroll was wide open but empty.

It seemed to be made of spider skin, making him blink as he could feel a faint amount of karmic power from it.

ʼHex Laws…ʼ

Davis turned to look at Evelynn and saw her smile. He instantly guessed that this skin belonged to the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid, which could possibly bind the entire family with what he was going to say since Lea seemed like she was going to etch his words as she took out a big quill brush as long as a spear and held it using soul force.

”…”

Feeling the entire family went all-out to make this event a success, Davis no longer was whimsical.

He took a deep breath, opening his mouth.

”You shall not betray the family— no matter what.” His firm words resounded in the hearts of the people, making them all feel a sense of unity. That was also his first commandment, and Lea used the brush to etch those words onto the big scroll, her movements deliberate and precise.

His firm words resounded in the hearts of the people, making them all feel a sense of unity. That was also his first commandment, and Lea used the brush to etch those words onto the big scroll, her movements deliberate and precise.

With each stroke, the black ink flowed smoothly and it struck a certain sense of fear into those who viewed it.

The ink seemed to be made up of ingredients that could possibly be of death attribute!

”You shall not look at your family with hostility nor bear false witness— know that your words are power and can cause harm, so be mindful.”

Everyone couldnʼt help but nod. Even if none betrayed the family, internal battles will make sure no power stands the test of time.

”You shall not use the resources of the family irresponsibly— be fruitful and share. Donʼt covet.”

”You shall try to endure insults that are not true as you will accept compliments that are not true— with a humble face thatʼs dismissive.”

”You shall not be overly righteous or willfully evil— stay in between the lines and remain smart enough to keep your horizons clear of mist at all times.”

Davisʼs voice was slow, accommodating Leaʼs inscribing speed, but they also flew like they were mandates, causing Clara to widen her eyes. She could tell that he was infusing karmic energy in those words to resonate with the people here. Even Tia could tell it, but she also knew that the effect was negligible.

But as for the huge scroll, that was her design. As long as the first nine generations were to fail to honor these words, Evelynn would feel a vague sense of disobedience from the scroll. This was only possible due to the spider skin Evelynn possessed from her inheritance ring. ”Honor your father, especially your mothers. I can take the disrespect and send a flying kick in return, but if your mothers were disrespected, that would be touching my reverse scale— thereʼs no telling what would happen.”

Davis continued— his words echoing like an imperial edict yet with his own taste. He made sure these words were personal from him to his descendants.

”Spare lives as much as you can. You shall only commit murder for the sake of the family— not to be abused or used against the family.”

”You shall not commit adultery— The victim will have the right to execute the adulterer.”

Everyone nodded. Adultery was a betrayal of trust and severance of love in a marriage.

This rule was already established in their legal system, so this commandment only enforced this law more.

”You can plunder from the enemies without remorse— but donʼt ever touch the treasures of those who did you no wrong.”

ʼBandit Emperor…ʼ

Everyone thought of him fondly. The entirety of their wealth was from plundering from their enemies anyway, so they were unabashed.

Davis uttered until the ninth commandment.

His brows squinted lightly as he had yet to think of the last commandment. His mind spun for a few seconds as Lea waited with the brush, ready to throw a stroke.

She seemed to be heaving for breath as she used a significant amount of energy to power the brush.

Even as Davis glanced at the scroll, he could see the bold and elegant characters making his heart tremble. The strokes were fluid yet controlled, each line meticulously formed to convey his strength and authority.

There was real warning behind the death-infused ink, but as he thought about it, he couldnʼt help but think he was in control of the lives here.

”Do not like my commandments? Come defeat me and make me change my mind. Failure will cause your fate to be decided by yours truly, the Divine Emperor of Death.”

”…!”

Evelynn and the others felt the bold and confident tone of those words exhilarating. He had always said he didnʼt expect his children to surpass him, and the tenth commandment manifested in such a way that they felt intense pride and adoration for him.

His parents also couldnʼt help but smile while Eterna looked like she was going to make a challenge. As the first child, she had the urge to soar into the skies more than anyone else. Even Evan held this conviction as he adored his first brother and intended to defeat him one day.

However, neither of them knew the true extent of Davisʼs prowess so they were nothing but dreaming right now.

Hiding her mouth slightly, Mingzhi took a calming pill to soothe her fangirling heart and soul.

After a few seconds, she gradually felt calmer, making her smile in relief.

”Before this meeting ends, we will do two things. The first will be that the Harem Council will now take a vote on a certain individual, whether to invite her to the harem or not, as the situation seems to be a bit more serious than we expected.”

”…?”

Everyone raised their brows while Davisʼs parents gawked.

They were still going to allow more women to enter their space?

Logan couldnʼt tell how his son was managing to do these godly maneuvers without him even trying.

On the other hand, Evelynn and the others were intrigued. They had a number of candidates on their minds, so they were eager to know who was next. Some couldnʼt help but look at Yotan.

Even Mingzhi cast a glance at Yotan, smiling.

”…”

And Yotan herself simply felt her heart skipping a beat.

When Davis saw that, he wanted to stop Mingzhi as he wanted to court Yotan himself.

”It is none other than Celestial Fairy Aila Cherryweave.”

However, what Mingzhi said next shocked everyone in the chamber, including Davis. He turned to look at Mingzhi with wide eyes.

”Counting yesterday, Fairy Aila Cherryweave has sent a hundred letters seeking his affection. However, Davis refused to read or even see any of it, but as a woman who ached for him many times, I simply cannot ignore this matter as even I, a cruel woman who will do certain things to bar more from women getting to him, feel sympathy for such a fairy.”

”A hundred…”

Many whispered while Davis also blinked.

It wasnʼt like a hundred days had passed since their time in the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm, so this meant that Fairy Aila Cherryweave simply sent multiple letters day and night.

This made Davis feel guilty as he hadnʼt even seen one, much less responded.

ʼThat woman… why wonʼt she just forget…?ʼ

He understood that she had a huge crush on him, but now, this no longer seemed to be at the level of a crush. It was bordering on obsession.

”No need to be considerate of my emotions or hers. Letʼs just vote on it.”

Mingzhi said and activated the voting formation. The beauties became covered in light and Mingzhi also returned to her seat in order to vote as a member of the Harem Council.

A minute and ten seconds later, the result came out-

[21 - 0 - 5]

- sending Davis into a spiral.

How come none was against Fairy Aila Cherryweave? Five of them had abstained, but none of them were against her!

This was simply ludicrous.

”The reputation of a Celestial Fairy is truly striking~”

Mingzhi returned to the center as she saw the result and turned to look at Davis, sending him a soul transmission.

”Donʼt look so shocked. Even if they didnʼt sympathize with her, the fact that she is a Celestial Fairy is more than enough for her to be with us, not to mention how consistent or obsessed she is with you without losing feelings. Besides, I have been keeping tabs on her, and it seems she has refused to see any male visitors for the past month.”

Mingzhi explained and saw Davis remain silent. She couldnʼt help but send another soul transmission.

”Also, that loli has a huge rack!”

”…”

Davis finally turned to look at Mingzhi, looking amused as he opened his mouth.

”Still, it is up to me to bring her here, right?”

”Yes, it isnʼt like weʼre going to bring her.” Mingzhi nodded, ”It is just that— if youʼre going to bring her, then you have our pre-approval.”

”Thatʼs a juicy information.” Davis chuckled.

Mingzhi grinned while Evelynn and the others also nodded.

The Harem Council only approves or disapproves. They didnʼt have the power to stop him and, similarly, force him to accept someone he didnʼt want to be with, but they imagined that he would not resist getting together with that petite woman since he got their permission.

Just her height and her innocence made them feel like they should protect her with all they got.

They also knew that Fairy Aila Cherryweave could be a fey since human gene was perfected by the heaven and earth. Men wonʼt cross more than six feet two inches while women wonʼt cross into six feet. However, the minimum height they would reach upon adulthood was five feet and eight inches for men while for women, it would be five feet and six inches.

But Fairy Aila Cherryweave was five feet tall even in adulthood, so it made her unique among them and even exotic, as many men would pay heavily to have that kind of woman just because she was different than anyone else if it were not a kink.

It was the same reason even seven-foot-tall women or even taller fey women were fetched a high price in the slave market.

”Even so, I ask that you beauties refrain from voting on this kind of matter unless I specifically ask for it.”

”Canʼt.” Mingzhi raised her hand, displaying her palm boldly, ”This is the Harem Council. You donʼt hold any power here, and weʼll do whatever we want as long as it is within the rules. You are here right now, but some decisions wouldnʼt even be made public until you manage to chance upon it~”

”…”

Davis wryly smiled before he shot a glance at Yotan, wondering if she felt down over the misunderstanding Mingzhi had made.

However, he saw she was heavily blushing right now, making him blink.

Sometimes, he couldnʼt understand what went through their heads as his women tended to shoot themselves in the foot by voting on matters like these! So he was clueless as to what Yotan felt to be blushing instead of being pissed.

However, he was unaware that Yotan had just received a soul transmission after the voting ended.

”A hint on the account of our old friendship. The reason Mingzhi didnʼt vote on you was because we accepted you long ago, so just go seduce him and take the twenty-seventh spot thatʼs empty~”

Yotan was shocked when she heard Bylaiʼs voice.

She couldnʼt help but glance at the twenty-seventh seat that was empty and had no name before shyly shooting some glances at Davis, wondering if he was in on this secret.
