Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3558 The Last Day To Have Fun?

Sometime later, their congregation dispersed as everyone went back to prepare their schedule for cultivation sessions since time was of the essence.

Evelynn, Isabella, and Shirley may only have nine days or four months in a time chamber, but the others have essentially got thrice that time to spend in order to catch up excluding the ones who have already reached the Immortal Emperor Stage.

ʼWell, I also only got about three months despite having a month to train…ʼ

The World Master said the Candidacy would begin in nine days and end in a month since she would be throwing them out at that time.

He hadnʼt given the end date information to anyone as it was privy to only him and Myria but the others have already begun to feel the heat from having less time. He was also feeling the need for more time.

The alternative would be to go and beg Saintess Lunaria for a faster temporal chamber but there was no way he was going to do that after cutting ties with her even if it was temporary.

He was still angered but didnʼt wish to bring it to the surface as he understood it was a genuine mistake on her part.

”…”

The fact that he was still thinking about relying on Saintess Lunariaʼs resources made him inwardly laugh, making him all the more not want to accept it.

ʼAnyway, the difference wouldnʼt be much considering five times in temporal speed increase would probably be the limit instead of three or four times that I already have…ʼ

The temporal formation he had his people construct was already like the ʼstate-of-the-artʼ procured from the Aurora Cloud Gate, so he would have to bring the topmost architects who were well versed in Space Laws and Time Laws.

He admitted that there was no need to go that far for a slight increase in time, so there was no need to beg Saintess Lunaria either.

”Is there anything wrong?”

Davis turned to look at Mingzhi as he was personally walking her to her chamber to make her rest as she refused to wait anymore as time was lacking.

”Yes, how are you feeling?”

He asked, causing Mingzhi to pout, ”Of course. I still feel my soul is quite chaotic, with random thoughts of aggression and depression appearing now and then, but Iʼm starting to get the hang of it. Within a week, this instability should completely disappear.”

”Thatʼs good to hear.”

Davis smiled as he held her hand firmly, ”Call me anytime if you need something. I need you, Mingzhi.”

”Well, Iʼm glad I made myself indispensable.” A smirk escaped Mingzhiʼs lips.

”Haha. Even without Black Claymore or your new physique, I still need you.”

Mingzhi giggled lightly and snuggled over his arm as she held him comfortably, finally feeling like taking a rest but she didnʼt say out her intentions because she wanted to spend more time with him.

Finally, they reached her chamber.

”Mingzhi, youʼre here~”

As soon as they opened the door, someone greeted them.

”Ah!”

A black silhouette quickly flew away and hid underneath the bed like a monster, causing Davis to blink.

”What are you doing?”

”I canʼt see you.” An adamant voice came from underneath the bed.

”But you saw me.”

”I mean, I canʼt see you without fulfilling my debt!”

”Does that really matter?” Davis chuckled, ”Come out.”

After a few seconds, a pair of dark, golden eyes could be seen under the bed like it belonged to some kind of predator. However, these pupils were insanely beautiful, but one might think they were staring at a bright golden star in the distant skies.

The owner of this pair of eyes floated out.

Her cascading ebony hair danced gracefully, freely falling to her back while some strands were on her shoulders. Her complexion bore a ghostly hue of pale gray, reminiscent of the undead, yet there was an undeniable allure to her beauty that captivated Davis.

Clad in flowing black robes, she revealed a hint of cleavage, adding to her charm. A sliver of her long, ethereal leg peeked through the hem of her skirt, emanating an enchanting aura.

This was Nightveil, a Dynastic Evernight Phantasm Spirit, and she was a beauty of otherworldly elegance in Davisʼs mind.

But now, this mature female spirit acted cute as she hovered out from underneath the bed and stood in front of him like she had done something wrong.

”…” Davis blinked.

She wasnʼt exactly acting cute, but her troubled expression seemed debt-ridden even to him. Even he was debt-ridden to Saintess Lunaria and the Aurora Cloud Gate but the difference was he was shameless enough to throw them to the wind just because they offended him.

He couldnʼt help but sigh, ”Nightveil, I thought we spoke about how to repay your debt, and you promised to form a spirit pact with Mingzhi, so what youʼre doing is paying more interest if you think you still owe me.”

”I donʼt think so.” Nightveil firmly shook her head, ”Being with Mingzhi is fruitful for me. I became powerful from absorbing her energy, and I even think Iʼm on the brink of mutation since her new physique makes my spiritʼs blood quiver with much joy. Itʼs full of benefits for me, and I donʼt see how Iʼm exactly repaying the debt I have with you.”

Davisʼs brows raised. She was actually evolving like a spirit would upon consumption of other spirits or resources?

Nonetheless, he shook his head, ”Saving you from the Myriad Toxic Hydrafang Poison was not much trouble, and I already told you that I did that to fulfill my own agenda at that time.”

”I do not wish to be shameless.”

Davis went speechless.

This was one prideful spirit before him.

Even back in the Grand Beginnings Continent, when he helped her ascend, she stuck to her words and gave every single bit of her wealth to him in exchange just as she promised.

Mingzhi cast a glance at the two of them.

At normal times, she would find this amusing, but right now, she felt irritated because Davis is hers. However, Nightveil was also her spirit she had a spirit pact with, so she barely suppressed herself.

Mingzhi waved her hand like she was giving a command.

”Nightveil, enough of your studies. We wonʼt be staying here for more than a month, so quickly enter the Immortal Emperor Stage.”

”What- why?”

Nightveil was stupefied as she was not in the know, so Mingzhi made an effort to explain.

Meanwhile, Davis looked around the room and saw that the entire floor was littered with scrolls, some having actual knowledge while many seemed to be scribbled. This was not Mingzhiʼs writing, so he figured it was Nightveilʼs.

From what he found, she seemed to be studying the art of information gathering and even legalism, which was what Mingzhi was taking care of nowadays and it looked like she employed her spirit Nightveil to be a part of it too.

”…”

This made Davis dumbfounded, having never seen a human use a spirit for this kind of work. Moreover, he just couldnʼt imagine an assassin like Nightveil would be studying books.

Was she brainwashed by Mingzhi?
