Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3535  Alarmed First Haven World

*Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~*

Many Immortal Emperors arrived near the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs city from all directions. The Fire Phoenix Clanʼs people were here, watching the skies that returned to normal, leaving none of those frightening undulations.

Since they owned this region once and were extremely near, they were the first ones to notice that this strange yet terrifying phenomenon came from the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs city.

However, once they arrived closer, they werenʼt sure anymore.

But they didnʼt leave.

Immortal Emperors were still gathering, having pinpointed the mysterious phenomenon to this one area.

They didnʼt make any trouble, but their gathering caused pressure to build up outside the city walls, causing the Reaper Soul Legion to narrow their eyes. However, they didnʼt seem to worry since Eldia seemed to be making rounds.

The crackling arcs of annihilative lightning she left a trace of in her flight path left many terrified to get even near her range, always standing a few thousand kilometers away from the city or her.

Sometimes, Eldia even rapidly shot towards their direction, only to fool them into running while she returned happily.

She seemed to be having fun with it without breaking a sweat.

However, it wasnʼt like they could stop all of them, so there was one who came way earlier than the Fire Phoenix Clan.

They came from the opposite direction.

It was none other than Saintess Lunaria and the six other Guardians of the Aurora Cloud Gate. All of them were gathered at the city gates, having entered inside as Yotan allowed them entry upon receiving Evelynnʼs permission.

Saintess Lunaria remained at the gates for a few minutes, having her eyes closed as though she was waiting before Evelynn finally arrived.

There were also Mingzhi, Lea, and Ellia accompanying her, and the four of them were standing in front of Saintess Lunaria.

Just as they were going to invite her amidst all the confusion, Saintess Lunaria opened her eyes and raised her hand.

”Whatʼs going on? He didnʼt lose control, did he?”

”No,” Evelynn firmly answered without a change in her voice, ”There is nothing of that sort.”

”Then why would that frightening phenomenon appear? It is far more ridiculous than the strongest Annihilative Heavenly Tribulation I had ever seen, which is also your husbandʼs.”

Saintess Lunaria pursed her lips, appearing concerned.

”…”

Evelynn kept her lips shut, looking as though she couldnʼt answer.

”Honestly,” Saintess Lunaria continued with a sigh, ”I know this is quite intimidating, but the Aurora Cloud Gate also gets rid of Divergents who have gone berserk. It is our undying duty to protect First Haven World from Divergents who disparage the names of other Divergents, so I hope you can understand. If he really isnʼt himself-”

”What are you going to do about it?”

Mingzhi stepped forward, appearing confrontative.

”Ah~ Saintess. She has been affected by her physiqueʼs mutation, so donʼt take offense.” Guardian Zera Nullheart advised.

”Mingzhi…”

Ellia pulled Mingzhi back, but she put herself at the forefront, ”Master, I donʼt appreciate this intimidating course of action. It would be fine if you came by yourself, but bringing all the Guardians is quite a show of force and threat, and we simply couldnʼt remain calm in front of it.

”…”

Saintess Lunaria sighed, ”Youʼre right, but I want to avoid another massacre. The Azure Dragon Clan would still be around if it were the case, but they arenʼt, and I sure donʼt want you all to die in his fugue state.”

”Saintess Lunaria,” Evelynn opened her mouth, ”I am sure such a thing wonʼt happen.”

”Alright, since youʼre so sure, Iʼll take a step back, but I at least need to see him. Where is he?”

”He is still in seclusion, sane and sound~”

”Thatʼs not enough.”

Despite Evelynnʼs constant assurance, Saintess Lunaria shook her head.

”Myria is also with him,” Lea added.

”Then I need to save my disciple.”

”Theyʼre dual cultivating…” Mingzhi scoffed.

”Then I- I… what?”

Saintess Lunaria appeared dumbfounded, while the same could be said about Guardian Kalaxis Vain, who touted Myria as the next Saintess Lunaria as he could see the potential. But now, even she was taken by the damned Divine Emperor of Death?

Guardian Ryheris Yilan and Guardian Elysian Veritas looked at each other, wondering if he could even be satisfied as his appetite for Celestial Fairies was just too big.

”They married just an hour ago, and yes, without a celebration and banquets.”

Ellia quickly added as she dryly giggled. ”Aha~ Weʼve been having too many marriages for wife position instead of concubines, so he- they may have gotten a little shy.”

She made these sweet gestures as though trying to play it down, but none of the seven Guardians seemed to be buying it, and she found this whole thing suspicious.

But at this moment, Evelynn took out a messaging talisman that lit up.

”Hey, my Hex Demoness. Iʼve informed Eldia, Nadia and Everlight just now but I want you to know most matters have been taken care of. There is no danger as far as I can sense and Iʼm still here, so donʼt worry. Itʼll be a while before I come out, so take care of the home and look after Mingzhi, will you? Sheʼs a bit chaotic right now.”

”…”

Mingzhi raised her hand, looking as though she was going to beat him up, but Ellia jumped on her again and sealed her mouth before she could say anything.

”Mhm. I understand~”

Evelynn softly replied.

Her answer was a yes, and nothing else other than that because her expression turned ecstatic.

She already knew Davis was still here as she could still feel him, but hearing he was okay, she looked at Saintess Lunaria with confidence.

”I understand Saintess Lunaria is worried about not only the phenomenon in the skies but also everyoneʼs souls. However, rest assured since he said there arenʼt any problems. As for a detailed account, please await his return from seclusion. If you insist on moving past us to check on him, then please know we donʼt appreciate such a move.”

”…”

The Guardians narrowed their eyes, finding this scene somewhat disrespectful.

Some of these children were still their disciples, so technically, they were still under their command, but they were in another faction of equal power or potential, leaving things complicated to do this their way.

On the other hand, Saintess Lunaria squinted her brows, appearing troubled.

She feared that Davis used Fallen Heaven or the punishment from using Fallen Heaven finally caught up to him but it didnʼt seem like the case since he still seemed sane or not even reckless.

Could it be that he was really married to Myria and was making love? And she was supposed to believe their union caused this and not the usage of that apex treasure?

She was aware all he needed was one command to commit a massacre in the trillions or even more, so she was truly frightened when she felt the ebb in her soul, feeling like it was her last day.

She couldnʼt make heads or tails out of it but seeing that there was no visible danger ahead as the place became as calm as the ocean and if she forcefully intruded and somehow made things even worse if she were to agitate him and make him use the apex treasure again, she reconsidered, slowly nodding.

”Fine, the Aurora Cloud Gate will retreat.” She declared, causing Evelynn and the others to smile.

”However, if the ebb in our souls arises or if we feel stranger by the second, then we will intrude on his closed door seclusion, no questions asked.”

”…”

To the vague condition, Evelynn didnʼt say anything, but Saintess Lunaria turned around and left after dropping those words.

The others outside the city saw Saintess Lunariaʼs exit and were shocked that she didnʼt do anything, just left, making them wonder if this person really was Saintess Lunaria, a being, a legend who protected myriad lives.

They didnʼt know if the Divine Emperor of Death used an apex treasure or not since they didnʼt even know of the treasure in the first place. However, his title as the Divine Emperor of Death and his ability to use life and death at the same time and allow fantastical nirvanic energy to be born wasnʼt something they found too hard to fathom.

Therefore, they wondered if the Divine Emperor of Death was ultimately responsible for tugging the souls of everyone in the First Haven World.

If that was truly the case, then doesnʼt that mean he controlled their life and death at any point in time?

Many expressions scrunched up, feeling like they could not let this divergence live for any longer. However, could they even assassinate him, considering he was an assassin himself…?

They didnʼt know, but they were caught in a rock and a hard place between wanting to protect themselves and not wanting to offend death itself, leaving many of them following in Saintess Lunariaʼs footsteps as they decided to adopt a wait-and-see attitude, still not retreating completely and staying a few ten thousand kilometers away from the city.
