Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3530  Facing Reality

Two figures flew on a flying boat in the skies at the edge of the Aurora Cloud Gateʼs Domain. They seemed to be seated together on the deck, appearing to still hold their hands like a lovey-dovey couple, except their expressions appeared quite solemn.

”…”

Davis pursed his lips.

Looking at the direction they were headed in, he really wasnʼt ready to face the beautiful faces wilting, causing him to sigh as he turned to look at her.

”You sure this is going to work— with you feeling arrogant and all?”

”We donʼt have to convince them, but a temporary closure is necessary. I wouldnʼt want any of them to feel lost.”

Myria answered with incomparable calm, causing Davis to nod.

”You are right.”

”Why are you grinning?”

However, Myria saw that he was smiling foolishly.

”Iʼm gratified that you are caring about your sisters.”

”Why wouldnʼt I? You changed me, or rather, you brought me back, allowing me to be myself. Therefore, I made a commitment to devote myself to you, which means accepting everything about you. It wonʼt change even after this arrogance overwhelms me, so donʼt worry.”

Myria raised her hand and patted Davisʼs head, causing him to blink but he accepted her determination, bringing down his head as he kissed her palm.

”Well, they might show some hostility to you since, in their gaze, youʼre separating me from them, so donʼt be saddened if they do.”

”I understand.”

Myria smiled lightly.

Soon, they reached back to the city, entering the mansion.

Evelynn and many others were there.

In fact, their senses locked onto him before he could even enter the city, causing him to smile wryly.

However, he did make the decision to abandon them even though that wasnʼt his intention, as the World Master was forcing him out to protect her universe, which was understandable, so it was ultimately up to stop himself. He felt highly guilty towards them right now.

”Mother~”

Elliaʼs expression burst into a wide smile as she quickly arrived before Myria and embraced her, causing the latter to caress her.

However, Ellia was shocked.

She felt she was nothing in front of Myria as the other partyʼs aura was vastly superior. It made her remember how Davis was like when his soul improved a while ago. In fact, she already felt a resonance when Evelynn, Nadia and Everlight recognized Davisʼs soul was still present here but Ellia couldnʼt help but feel this was crazy.

It was like she was back to being a maid but serving an Empress, even though they were from the same source!

However, the warmth Myria gave her made her relax and not care about it for the time being. She didnʼt know what motherly warmth was, but she didnʼt think it could get any closer than this!

”Youʼre back. I honestly thought you wouldʼve left…”

Isabella approached for quicker than anyone else, caught his hands and looked at him with an expectant smile as though waiting for him to say that he would stay, causing pain to swell in Davisʼs heart.

She even said it discreetly through soul transmission, which made Davis admit to the truth.

”Youʼre not wrong. I wouldʼve left if it werenʼt for Myria insisting that we should be more open about this matter and bring a temporary closure instead of leaving you all out of the loop.”

”…”

Isabellaʼs heart sank, but she shook her head and stared at him.

”You honestly want us to accept that? How could we? Why didnʼt you just leave!?”

She held his hands firmly as she cast a glare at him, her eyes turning moist.

Davis said nothing and simply pulled her close and embraced her, causing her to bite her lips. She didnʼt cry but felt like all the determination she had built up through convincing herself and coping came crashing down like a shattered cliff falling into the sea.

She clenched her fists, not thinking she could handle these waves anymore that crashed against her heart.

However, she couldnʼt get angry at him either as he was here and she wanted to savor this moment, causing her to tip-toe and kiss his lips.

”…”

The other beauties smiled, feeling assured that Davis was here to stay. However, a melodious voice echoed out.

”Something happened, right? Will you still stay?”

Evelynn asked.

She was standing a meter away from Davis and Isabella, causing Davis to let go of Isabellaʼs lips before he turned to look at her.

Looking at Evelynnʼs calm expression, he knew it was nothing but a farce.

He knew she was feeling as frustrated and emotional as Isabella did but didnʼt show it on her face because she was the big sister who had to maintain her image. If she faltered, then the others would naturally feel anxious.

Myria opened her mouth, wanting to explain. However, Ellia shook her head, causing Myria to purse her lips.

”Evelynn, I am not going to lie. I will be forced out one way or another, so this might be our last meeting in this decade. I came here to say… goodbye.”

Evelynnʼs gaze shook. The tip of her nose turned rosy, but she still maintained a calm expression.

”Any chance that we could… come with you?”

”If we could, I would take it in a heartbeat.” Davis turned his body towards her, fully focusing on her, ”You could try entering my life ring, but the World Masterʼs power is such that she would only evict Myria and me. Besides, I already asked her to take care of you all in this realm, but Iʼm not sure if she would really abide by- ”

”…”

Davis stopped as he saw everyone still looking at him with a hopeful gaze, causing him to heave a light breath.

”No, you canʼt.”

He dropped those words, causing a deafening silence to resound in the hall.

No one talked for three seconds straight, and in the fourth second, there was the sound of sobbing. Although it was silent, everyone turned to look at Shea, who hid her face in Nieraʼs bosoms.

Quickly, a few others, like Fiora, Zestria, and Panqa, began to sob silently, causing inexplicable pain that shattered Davisʼs heart as he couldnʼt endure it.

He clenched his teeth, feeling trashier than ever.

”Fortunately, this is also for your safety. If Myria and I encounter danger there, then we donʼt need to feel afraid.”

”…”

Davis continued only to receive questionable looks as though wondering if he was really doing it for them, making him smile forcefully, ”Fine. If you donʼt want me to go, all you have to say are two words. The harem council has been formed, right? Letʼs take a vote. Iʼll return in half an hour, so talk it through.”

Dropping those words, Davis disappeared, and Eldia reappeared in his place, blinking.

He completely shut off his soul connections using Fallen Heaven, disallowing Evelynn, Nadia, and Everlight to find him.
