Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3517  Second Son

”Dissonance…? Are you sure that it will be fine?”

”Yes, Mingzhi. Itʼs not like I canʼt control myself. Itʼs just that there are these bursts of egotistical and arrogant moments that are difficult to suppress, but Iʼm sure with time, I can adapt to it well.”

Hearing Davisʼs answer, Mingzhi considered for a few moments before she nodded and opened the door for him. She heaved a sigh as he left her side, feeling that giant pressure no longer oppressing her.

Davis entered the hall and saw Evelynn and a few others, but his gaze fell on Niera and the tiny baby in her embrace.

It was as he expected. Niera had birthed a son.

Niera tried to stand up, but Evelynn had her eyes narrowed, pressing on Nieraʼs shoulder as though indicating for her to sit down. Niera pursed her lips, wondering why she had to maintain this kind of attitude towards Davis, whom she looked forward to presenting her son even if he was late.

However, she didnʼt know Evelynn already noticed something wildly different about Davis.

Davisʼs gaze was still on his second son.

The little baby was cradled in a fine cloth, only his head peeking out as he seemed to be sleeping. He had blonde hair, just like him and Niera, making him wonder whose eye color he inherited.

When Davis stepped closer, wanting to caress his second son, the latter appeared alarmed and looked around as though searching for something when his little bright eyes met Davisʼs, causing Davisʼs pupils to tremble.

The eye color was golden.

He instantly came to know something was different about this immortal child.

It wasnʼt like he noticed unusual self-awareness or sentience, but the eye color was different than Nieraʼs or his own, which meant that his son possessed a physique of some sort.

Davis was excited and prideful.

His second son was so strong that even the blazing protective aura around him stemming from the placenta on his side was at the Immortal King Stage. Of course, the placenta was disconnected, but she still had it on him, appearing to slowly nourish himself with it.

Nonetheless, Davis noticed the weirded-out gazes of the others as his aura once again leaked, causing him to sigh.

”How many days…?”

”Four days since his birth…” Niera answered.

However, she looked unsure of standing up again as his aura demanded that she shouldnʼt even look at him eye-to-eye. He was wildly different than before, making her want to know what happened in the past two weeks.

”Niera…” Davis raised his hand, ”Iʼm… Iʼm very…”

He pursed his lips, appearing to want to say something but couldnʼt before he inclined his head and smiled cockily, shaking his head.

”Iʼm…” He clenched his teeth, still smiling, ”… extremely sorry that I broke our promise.”

”…”

Evelynn and the others couldnʼt help but blink. How was that supposed to be an apology? However, they also noticed that he looked like an internal battle was going on inside him.

Niera finally stood up, bringing the child to him with an assured expression on her face.

”I accept your apology. I wouldnʼt lie if I said your absence bothered me, but more importantly, look… itʼs your second son…”

She pridefully handed him her child, causing Davis to shudder as he could feel her longing and excitement. Niera was like a little girl wanting to be praised. She had rarely imposed on him, but now, her eyes were saying that he shouldnʼt look at anything else other than her son.

However, after taking a glance at his son in his arms, Davis returned his gaze towards Niera and cupped her cheek with his free hand.

”Believe me. It wasnʼt my intention to dual-cultivate with Everlight for more than a week at most. If I had heard of the news of your birth, even Everlight wouldʼve come with me. However, I entered a state of trance and couldnʼt even remember what happened in the middle, except Everlight is now exhausted beyond compare and is still resting. I…”

He further explained that his soul physique had improved beyond his imagination and was causing dissonance between his Will and instincts, making him find it difficult to maneuver as his soul seemed to be too arrogant and egotistical right now.

”So thatʼs what it was…”

Evelynn stood up and sighed, lightly rubbing her third eye, ”When I tried to see through your eyes, I wasnʼt able to, even feeling a prickly sensation that disallowed me to see.”

”What?”

Davisʼs pupils dilated, ”It seems like it is time to teach the Divine Emperor of Death a lesson.”

”Aha~” Evelynn giggled at his reaction.

She was glad that he was the same person. However, she lowered her eyes, not saying that she had also received a backlash and bled from her third eye.

In any case, it wasnʼt much of a problem since she had healed since then, so she decided to just wait until he could get his arrogant soul under control, and then, she could see through his eyes all she wanted.

”Look,” Evelynn pointed, ”In essence, heʼs your first son.”

”Ah~ no.” Niera shook her head swiftly, ”Big sister, we went over this numerous times. Although I became pregnant first, the one who first comes out will be the first. Azariel is undoubtedly the first son, so please donʼt mention this again. I donʼt want to needlessly bend the hierarchy.”

”Needlessly huh…” Evelynn smiled lightly, ”Thatʼs an invitation to a battle.”

”Aiya~ Iʼm getting cornered~”

”Ahahaha~”

The two of their antics made the others laugh, causing Davis to also smile.

He knew these two were in their own world by having birthed his sons, which meant they were probably feeling extremely special.

In fact, he also felt more prideful about having a son again, more than he thought he did, finding it to be the arrogant influence inside of him, having been gratified. It made him smile, thinking there were some pros to this change, but ultimately, he hated some unknown thing influencing him the most.

”Whatʼs my lovely second sonʼs name?”

Davis asked, looking at his second son, staring at him with his curious eyes.

It reminded him of Azarielʼs unamused gaze.

”Iʼm thinking of naming him Lucian Davis… reflecting the intensity and warmth of both the sun and fire. Although this name has been used a lot in the Golden Crow Clan and other fire-based major powers, according to Shea, I love it. What do you think?”

Davis nodded, ”Well, I was also thinking Lucian, Arion, or Solaris, so Lucian sounds good. It has a good ring to it and also rhymes with his aunt Lucia.”

”Excellent. Arion will be my next sonʼs name~”

Niera uttered, looking excited before she opened her mouth again, ”And Aelia will be my first daughterʼs name.”

”Oh, so youʼve already decided?”

”Yes~”

”Niera, youʼre getting ahead of yourself.” Sophie patted her shoulder, ”If I birth a son before your second son arrives into this world, I will take Arionʼs name.”

”No, Iʼm not giving up!”

Niera held Davisʼs hand, not giving him up as she looked at Sophie with competitive intent.

Sophie and the others couldnʼt help but smile.

Their Niera, who had a gloomy face all this while, finally lit up after Davis came by. It also improved their moods to see him come back after going missing for a while.

Davis also held Niera close with Lucian. He felt extremely guilty for not being with her during delivery. For one, he wanted to be there as the father, and for two, he let Niera face heavenly tribulation all by herself.

Just the thought of letting Niera face tribulation all by herself was shuddering, to say the least.

Why? Because the heavenly tribulationʼs strength attracted by the birth of an immortal child was equal to the cultivation base of both father and mother or the average, meaning if Davis was at Level Nine Immortal King Stage and Sophie was at Level Four Immortal Stage, the immortal tribulationʼs strength would be at Level One Immortal King Stage!

Such a thing… it meant Niera was dead if she faced it alone!

He impregnated her when she had just become an Immortal and barely entered the Mid Immortal Stage through dual cultivation with him and taking minor resources that nurtured the baby but also her.

However, the fact she and the child were alive meant the tribulationʼs prowess was lower.

Davis could guess why that was the case-

-because his soul cultivation had regressed to Level One Immortal King Soul Stage in order to improve to his current level and slowly rose over the week.

He didnʼt know what to feel about the fact that his cultivation had fallen ironically saved Niera from her demise. If his main cultivation, soul cultivation, actually didnʼt regress, she wouldʼve lost the baby and then reborn through Everlight, who was actually dual cultivating with him.

He didnʼt even want to think of such a scene.

ʼSo the heavens pick the average from the parentsʼ main cultivation base… the cultivation base that has the highest prowess regardless of the level of the cultivation base…ʼ

Davis learned of this through inference, but he was royally pissed that he couldnʼt give a heartfelt apology to Niera, who almost lost her life.

He knew he had been lucky with his cultivation having regressed, but his egotistical and arrogant soul was blocking him from saying such a thing again.

Nonetheless, he regulated himself and injected a fine strand of soul sense into Lucian.

Davis could see the immortal vessels in his tiny body slowly developing like an organ. This tiny dude had a dantian even before he was out of his momʼs belly, making Davis smile wryly.

”An immortal baby will step into the Immortal Stage the moment they become sixteen years old, more or less. Oh? His dantianʼs core, meridians, and even bones are all fire-attributed right from the start. What kind of physique does he have? Does anyone know?”

Davis panned his gaze on Niera and everyone else.

They looked clueless as they werenʼt experts, but Ellia stepped up, her lips curling.

”I didnʼt want to say unless you returned, but yes, Lucian got the short end of the stick. Our Niera survived a Destructive Heavenly Tribulation-”

”Destructive!?”

Davisʼs pupils dilated.

”Yes…” Ellia pursed her lips, wondering if he was feeling fine, ”-so I think your son most probably has Solar Apocalypse Physique, a physique so destructive that can actually cause everything around the user to burn regardless of their Will unless controlled and can even burn down… a Minor Realm at the peak of the Immortal Emperor Stage…”

”…”

Davisʼs lips pursed while the others trembled, especially Nieraʼs eyes, which turned much worried as she looked at her son.

Lucian was a Divergent? They thought the Destructive Heavenly Tribulation was because the father was an Anarchic Divergent!
