Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2894 A Past Acquaintance

”I mean… I was wondering why senior would call Myria a Saintess when sheʼs rumored to be a Divergent.”

Davisʼs expression became taken aback as he said politely. However, his true intent was to hide the fact that Myria was an Anarchic Divergent and also possessed life-and-death energy like him.

The Celestial Transcendent gave a long look at him amidst the thundering skies, his gaze calm as serene waters.

”Are you her son?”

”No!” Davis flinched, ”What the...”

He clenched his teeth, knowing that the Celestial Transcendent probably arrived at this conclusion because they used the same powers, Life Laws and Death Laws. Since this was the case, he felt it was safe to assume that the heavens imbued some information about him to the Celestial Transcendent.

”I… I want to make her my woman instead...”

”Ahaha~”

The Celestial Transcendent suddenly burst out laughing, causing Davisʼs expression to sink.

What was funny?

”The era of Saintess Myria was such an era that even Empyreans and Autarchs lined up for her, waiting for her to grow to their level so they could properly court her. If it werenʼt for that day, then perhaps sheʼd still be… sigh...”

The Celestial Transcendent seemed full of remembrance as he rubbed his chin before sighing deeply.

”Fine, fine.” Davis chuckled lightly before he nodded his head, ”I understand that sheʼs the utmost or one of the top Celestial Fairies of that era. However, I assume you know of my powers, so am I still lacking?”

He asked, his expression brimming with confidence.

But to his question, the Celestial Transcendent shook his head.

”Child, I donʼt know if you deserve each other, but thatʼs not important. Whatʼs important is that you should be able to accept her everything before she can accept you. That child bears too much pain in her heart to be able to accept anyone.”

Davisʼs brows squinted. That tone… it was as though the Celestial Transcendent personally knew of Myria. It caused him to want to dig more.

”Is it because her life is unending?”

”Donʼt you know?” The Celestial Transcendent narrowed his brows, ”She killed her own father.”

”…!”

Davis flinched in shock.

But his reaction made the Celestial Transcendent frown even more.

”If she hasnʼt even shared such a thing with you, then you should stop disturbing her. Iʼve known hundreds and thousands of Divergents in my years and had my fair share in ending their lives, but the ones who are unselfishly kind and compassionate beyond compare, Iʼve only known one, and that is Saintess Myria.”

”She might not be the case now, but back then, she was an innocent soul, a respected individual even in my old eyes. Iʼve talked a few times with her, and I still remember her cute visage back when I visited her to check on her physique when she was a little child. Almost all the rulers of the Upper Realms congratulated her and her only father on her physique. Us old men and women were all waiting for her to reach up to our level, but-”

The Celestial Transcendent suddenly stopped, his expression turning determined.

”As a Celestial Transcendent, I only wish that she doesnʼt have to suffer by continuing to exist, but as a human… I only wish that if she canʼt obtain happiness, at least donʼt cause her to suffer. I canʼt interfere in your lives as weʼre worlds apart. The only thing I can do… I am allowed to do… is erase you two from existence to ease your suffering.”

”…”

Davis was still speechless, his expression appearing forlorn, but the Celestial Transcendent continued.

”As expected, the heavens are unable to wait anymore, constantly bombarding my senses. Itʼs time.”

His relaxed posture finally made a move, causing Davis to instantly come out of his reverie and ready himself.

”Young lad, I see that you are sane and reasonable to some degree. You may not be a bad person amidst the lines of this ruthless cultivation universe, but I must abide by my words and eliminate all hindrances that threaten the rule of the heavens. Itʼs not personal.”

*Rumble!~*

The dark skies rumbled with scarlet-black lightning snakes crackling above.

”Iʼve had a lot to digest right now, but fine. Thank you for your valuable knowledge.”

eaglesnovɐ1,сoМ Davis cupped his hands and bowed for a second. He then raised his head and returned to his battle posture as he created a Spear of Damnation, pointing at them as reincarnation energy swirled around him.

”Also, I understand that you have no malice as far as Iʼve seen. Therefore, as long as senior doesnʼt target my family, come. Iʼll welcome a battle to the death anytime.”

”-but not soon after I ascend. Give me some time, alright?”

Davis suddenly frowned, causing the Celestial Transcendent to blink before he burst out laughing.

”Aha~ Iʼve never met a shameless Anarchic Divergent like you. Be careful!”

He pointed at Davis and warned in a genial tone, disappearing the next moment.

Davisʼs gaze flickered, but he instantly panicked over having lost the other partyʼs figure!

*Bang!~*

Davis was sent flying to the right as he felt a huge boulder had struck him from the left, sending him flying. However, he forcefully raised his head and saw the Celestial Transcendent approaching from the skies while overflowing with annihilative heavenly wind and heavenly lightning.

But there was something else clad on his fists.

”Chaotic energy!” This was the first time Davis had seen it on someone else.

However, he felt like he shouldʼve expected this, considering that the other party was like the gardener of the entire Three-Layered Universe. With the help of the heavens, which place doesnʼt he have access to!?

Clenching his teeth, he flipped mid-air and struck with the other partyʼs fist.

*Bang!~*

The space shattered, and the both of them were sent flying away from each other before they both regained balance, one crackling with annihilative heavenly wind and heavenly lightning while another glowed with an iridescent bloom of vortex that seemed to be a neverending pathway to the reincarnation cycle.

However, they both had their fists clad in grayish-silver chaotic energy, causing Davis to slightly rub the blood off his lips as he chuckled.

ʼThis isnʼt going to be easy as I thought…ʼ

Glancing above, he saw the twelve Paragon Magical Beasts descending, but he returned his gaze to the one who had the sentience to kill him.

”By the way… how many have passed this tribulation?”

”Three, and they all had one thing in common.”

”What is it?”

”They were all giants of their own cultivation paths.”

”…”
