Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2887 Inner Conflicts

Davis chuckled as he put cues in the mind of this lightning cultivator called Lai. He made him think that he had cut him, the Emperor of Death, through his silver sword that seemed to be of Early Immortal King Grade when in truth, he had dodged and made Lai believe that he cut through him, not even hallucinate but believe.

Such was the power of his Enigmatic Heart Intentʼs third realm, but unfortunately, he found it extremely hard to use it on cultivators with the same or more prowess than him.

Nonetheless, just as the three heavenly warriors continued to chase him, splitting in three directions to be able to at least attack him from one side, he suddenly stopped in mid-air, abruptly fuming with black-silver heavenly lightning and dark crimson heavenly flames that made their bodies quiver as they came to a stop.

Their eyes flickered, watching his next move carefully, but they saw him move his lips.

”You see… this tribulation doesnʼt seem to hold a candle to the tribulation I faced back when I was a mortal. Do you know why?”

*Bang!~*

Davis received the next annihilative heavenly wind tribulation with his hand again. No matter how many times they saw it, their eyes still couldnʼt help but twitch, but at the same time, they were trying to think of an answer to his question as they were also curious.

How come he was so powerful enough to take this Annihilative Immortal King Tribulation that was bound to make anyone, even the worst nightmare out there, feeling hopeless?

”Itʼs because the majority of the karmic burden that was on me was because of a simple yet stupid heavenly taboo. If you investigated my past, you should know about it, no?”

”Divine? You donʼt deserve such a title.” Gnarled Lai.

However, Davis didnʼt take offense and continued to talk.

”Regardless of whether I deserve it or not, that aspect is affecting me less and less as my cultivation base increases. Itʼs just as she said, and Iʼm also sure you people know of it since you know taboos, but it still hasnʼt gone away, giving me headaches. Would you explain how to completely make it disappear?”

Davis asked with sincerity as though he was engaged in a serious and civil conversation now, causing even the timid Raves to roar.

”Stop trying to buy time! You will fall today!”

As they saw him condensing the annihilative heavenly wind into essence, they felt prickly in their souls, feeling like their father was watching them fail at everything they did.

”No, Iʼm truly asking with sincerity. If you know the method, I might let you all leave alive.”

But still, Davis spoke in a convincing tone which made them hesitate a bit.

ʼBesides, the fact that I died should also add additional karmic burden on me…ʼ Davis imagined.

Back then, he remembered when his immortal tribulation was nine levels higher, but now, it was practically at the same level. Considering that his karmic burden shouldʼve dropped considerably since he had entered the Immortal Stage, it shouldʼve become at least six or seven levels higher, but instead, it maintained a petty rate of nine as though it would continue to haunt him to death.

Of course, at that time, he had a formation disc made by Myria to help him as his wives shouldered some extra karmic burden from him.

However, since he died and was resurrected, he understood that he couldʼve incurred further karmic burden, which made his karmic burden levels worsen again.

”Well, since you donʼt know the answer, Iʼm happy to reveal it to open your eyes.”

Davisʼs lips curled.

His figure abruptly became covered with a bright gold aura, causing the three heavenly warriors to widen their eyes.

”You… how come you have karmic virtue…?”

”Impossible… An Anarchic Divergent who is good in nature…?”

”Are Anarchic Divergents even acknowledged by the heavens…?”

At this moment, the Emperor of Death couldnʼt help but look like he was truly a Saint at this moment, causing them to shiver ever so lightly, wondering if they had caught the wrong person.

They didnʼt know who Mo Tian was, but hearing the rumors while coming here and witnessing him use life energy, they could tell that both were the same person.

ʼDid you all think I was just ogling at women in the banquet? So many characters, so many karmic virtue, karmic sin, so many handshakes, so many close contact encounters… arenʼt they all practically telling me to plunder karmic nature from them!?ʼ

Davis couldnʼt help but inwardly laugh. If it werenʼt for this, he imagined that his tribulation wouldʼve been eleven levels higher, practically killing him.

He had just managed to collect about two meters of third-tier karmic virtue and fifteen meters of second-tier karmic sin, allowing him to re-amalgamate them into second-tier karmic virtue that embodied him and caused the heavens to unwittingly lower its prowess against him before the tribulation even started.

Particularly, he had collected a lot of karmic sin from Young Clan Lord Lars Zenflame, so he could tell the other party was corrupted to his core and couldnʼt stomach him looking at his Shirley. If it werenʼt for his restraints, he wouldʼve almost killed him in that private room.

Nonetheless, witnessing what the Emperor of Death revealed to them, the three heavenly warriors were shaken and confused.

Their basic reason for existing as heavenʼs warriors could be said to be to protect these kinds of people, the ones with karmic virtue, while also meeting out punishment for those who possessed immense karmic sin.

Since that was the case, they always believed that the heavens were fair. Even if it was unfair, it was just.

However, looking at the blinding golden aura from the Emperor of Death, they truly didnʼt know what to feel.

*Bang!~ Zrrkkk~!*

By this time, the sixth annihilative heavenly wind blade struck Davis, only to be caught again in his grasp like a fly that had its wings clenched, unable to do anything other than watch silently.

But that same attack caused someone to roar.

”Donʼt waver! He is causing us to hallucinate again! My Celestial Wind Body can break through illusion!”

Raves screamed at the top of his lungs, causing the others to wake up from their reverie.

”Sigh, you people never learn...”

Davis shook his head. However, he wasnʼt particularly going to bicker with them since he knew karmic virtue wasnʼt what made him stronger.

Did it ease his tribulation? Yes.

But dying and comprehending Abstruse Intents of Death Laws and Life Laws was a game changer for him, allowing his reincarnation energy to be powerful as his chaotic energy at the moment, and since these were sentient wills he was dealing with, what other than his reincarnation energy could be so effective, leaving everything in this tribulation so easy to cross?

”Fine, since thatʼs how you wanna play it, weʼll play it. From our intel, we heard that your little sister possesses the Transcendent Truth Eyes, is that true?”

Davisʼs gaze flickered, ”Who told you that?”

His tone raised a few octaves, causing the three of them to grin. They looked at each other before smiling a bit.

”What a pity… but if there is anything that will happen pleasingly in her life, she would eventually come in search of us and join us. After all, thatʼs her destiny as a ruler, the most respected of heaven warriors.”

*Bang!~*

The seventh annihilative heavenly wind blade fell, yet Davis merely captured it with his bare hands and destroyed it with a clench of his single hand, causing the three heavenly warriors to tremble ever so lightly as they took a step back.

======

”Pui!~”

Ellia spat out a mouthful of blood. Her expression was full of disbelief as she witnessed the woman she carried drive an ice sword into her dantian, robbing her of her cultivation.

*Plop~*

She went on her knees, raising her head to look at the unbelievably distant yet cold glare staring her down.

”Clara...”

Resounded Elliaʼs voice weakly, along with the dumbfounded yet horrified stares of her sisters, quickly yet belatedly running to help her!
