Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2881 Becoming A Lure

Davis raised the Spear of Damnation, seeing the blackish-red lightning dragons quiver ever so lightly while still baring their fangs at him. His lips curled into an amused smile as he had noticed this before.

After all, the Spear of Damnation was even effective against the Paragon Magical Beasts.

He had Myria to thank for this wonderful technique that was the bane of souls.

It didnʼt slaughter souls but simply caused them to disperse as it severed its ties to this world. Such an abstruse comprehension was imbued in this energy spear was nothing short of a heavenly geniusʼs work, almost making him feel like no one could match her, not even him.

ʼNo… both those fairies are heavenly geniuses...ʼ

He also thought about Ellia, waving his hand again as he reaped the sentient will of another heavenly specter that came to take his life.

*Puchi!~* *Puchi!~* *Puchi!~*

Despite these willful dragons surrounding him, Davis found himself at ease, erasing each heavenly dragon specter with a single stab or swing of his Spear of Damnation. His comprehension of it had also improved by leaps and bounds, allowing him to use it many times as it didnʼt disappear after having used it.

His energy usage was at an optimal level, not even expending a bit of it.

”Hmm?”

Abruptly, he noticed many surges of energy approaching from the distance.

ʼTo be rushing into this hellhole, it must be them...ʼ

Davis grinned, turning around and resuming his adventure of destroying the Fire Phoenix Clan to his heartʼs content.

Although he only targeted structures, people were also dying from his actions, but he didnʼt care, not after what he saw in the banquet.

There was not a single clause that treated Shirley like an inheritor. She was practically a plaything in their eyes.

He may be smiling, but his anger knew no bounds, wanting to kill, kill, kill!

”Emperor of Death! Stop this madness!”

Davis heard Great Ancestor Zenflameʼs voice. However, he paid no heed and continued moving to the next city. The remaining blackish-red lightning dragons were also following him relentlessly, making him have two parties chasing him right now.

”Bastard! How dare you wreck my Fire Phoenix Clan!?”

”Youʼll pay for this!”

”Stop. We can work this out!”

Numerous curses and voices trying to convince resounded from the darkness in the distance. He also heard Patriarch Killian Zenflameʼs voice which sounded quite insane, but he didnʼt respond and stormed into another city like a meteor.

*Boom!~*

He struck the ground, causing the defensive formation in the plaza to implode first before the heavenly lightning dragons caught up to him.

*Puchi!~*

He struck one-two with a single slash followed by a stabbing motion in one move, taming and absorbing their essence into the life ring, and continued to run, wreaking havoc in the city.

Abruptly, Immortal Emperorʼs undulations surged from a distance.

Davis turned to look and saw a huge construct being thrown at him.

”Fuck…!”

*Boom!~*

He shot like a meteor toward the distance as dark crimson flames spurred from his legs, allowing him to move forward. The sudden propulsion threw him off as he went off course and crashed into a building.

But fortunately, it was an Immortal King Grade building, so he didnʼt receive any damage with his unfathomably strong physical body.

ʼDamn it… these elders found out a loophole already…!ʼ

Davis rolled around and regained his balance, turning around and escaping.

He knew that it was forbidden to interfere in oneʼs immortal tribulation as the heavens could tell each and everyoneʼs thoughts involved in a tribulation.

Therefore, the Grand Elder didnʼt think of harming him and instead threw a construct to his general location, which couldnʼt be considered as interfering in his tribulation directly.

However…

”Grand Elder Seil Zenflame, I didnʼt think you were here to help me. Thanks a lot, but I donʼt need it!”

*Rumble!~*

Davisʼs voice had only resounded out like a ray of hope in the darkness when suddenly the dark clouds flickered with a strange multi-colored light.

”Ahhh!!!!”

A horrified and pained voice resounded from the darkness.

Davis didnʼt look back, rushing towards another city as he shot into the skies, but his face appeared as though he was going to laugh out loud over hearing Grand Elder Seil Zenflameʼs death cry.

The other members of the Fire Phoenix Clan stopped to look at a bolt of five-colored lightning piercing through Grand Elder Seil Zenflameʼs skull. However, he didnʼt die but seemed practically retarded as his eyes seemed to have become dull, only a smiling expression left on his face, one that seemed to be a smile of insanity.

”…”

Everyone felt a huge chill in their hearts, not knowing how their Grand Elder got punished by the heavens with a bolt of five-colored lightning reserved for a heavenly warrior to prove their worth.

However, Great Ancestor Zenflame knew what exactly happened.

After all, the heavens could tell everyoneʼs thoughts but not Davis Alstreimʼs! Not a Divergentʼs and especially not an Anarchic Divergentʼs! They would just need to shout something, and the heavens might take their words for granted!

But the heavenly will was not a fool as well, so it sent a bolt of lightning that didnʼt take the life of the foolish person but was still powerful enough to test the person to see if it could become its warrior!

This was what made the Divergents fearsome, and they were told from time immemorial not to near their tribulations under any circumstances!

In essence, they could cheat the heavens, making it so that the tribulation was the only time they shouldnʼt deal with them, leaving it to the heavens to end them instead!

Seeing this scene, the Grand Elders tried to slowly creep out from the scene while the Elders werenʼt much different.

”You all…!”

Great Ancestor Zenflame growled.

”What are you all doing!? Have you forgotten all your duties, deigning to run away like cowards!?” roared Patriarch Killian Zenflame.

Surprisingly, the former turned to look at the latter, wondering how this insane descendant still had some of his sanity left. However, that surprise didnʼt last long, as he saw him leave.

”Since he is here and seems to have some kind of leisure in front of his tribulation, letʼs make the Fire Phoenix Clan his deathbed. Iʼll go activate the ancestral palaces, waking up our Ancestors.”

”Bastard! As the Patriarch, you can do that from anywhere nearby. Thereʼs no need for you to leave, you cowardly bird!”

Hirona yelled out, her patience having gone, even becoming abusive with her words.

However, Patriarch Killian Zenflame merely sneered, ”My life as the Patriarch is far more important than yours. You all will use your lives for the Candidacy while I will allow the Fire Phoenix Clan to reach greater heights. We arenʼt the same, idiots.”

”Just you three wait. My Ancestor will meet you all with suitable punishments~”

He dropped a few more words and disappeared from the city, leaving the three immortal inheritors with dumbfounded expressions on their faces. Yet, one of them knew who had been supporting this brazen move of Patriarch Killian Zenflame from the shadows.

”Itʼs Reselius, isnʼt it?

Patriarch Killian Zenflame laughed as he heard Great Ancestor Zenflameʼs shuddering words.

Hearing this, Hirona and Sierra also looked shocked beyond compare, their gaze falling on Great Ancestor Zenflame as they recognized this name.

”Thatʼs right. The second son you crippled yourself, Ancestor Reselius Zenflame, reborn from his own worthless ashes after you three sealed yourselves in the Heavenly Ice Stasis Valley to make the Fire Phoenix Clan what it is now, prideful and glorious. He is my grandfather and the person I look up to the most! None of you can match him in sheer experience, so donʼt you dare tell him or me what to do!”
