Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2477 Unspoken

”Before that… donʼt you have something to say to me?”

Zora Luan raised her brows as she pressed with her melodious voice, causing Davis to blink before he cupped his hands towards her.

”I apologize for faking that I was Feng Chu. As a matter of fact, I again apologize for leading you on back then in the mountain forest and having you watch Daisy and me-”

”Fine, fine... Youʼre excused...”

Zora Luanʼs expression changed before she waved him off. There was a tinge of flavor to her movements as though she was embarrassed. Perhaps, the face behind her veil was also seasoned red.

Davis held back his smile, appearing innocent as he dropped his hands. He really wanted to see what kind of expression she had behind her veil, as he could see her tremble with shame.

On the other hand, Zora Luan couldnʼt imagine how he had caught on to her presence back then, but now, she could more or less understand that this person in front of her didnʼt fully display his prowess.

She recognized the man in front of her was Davis Alstreim, a deep schemer who planned a counter for her in a short time. After coming here, he went outside and even played innocent to know who and all were against him.

He was also a womanizer with more than ten women by his side.

Therefore, Daisy should also be one of his wives, or rather, she felt that it was his first wife, Evelynn, as she had initially expected.

Originally, she looked down on him for being scheming and unscrupulous with women, but she had also heard some dubious rumors about how he once sacrificed his life to save his family, and only then had he turned into a slaughter devil. Today, she heard how he protected his wife, Isabella, from being taken away and, believing his character as she witnessed him on their first encounter, quickly came to his rescue.

This matter caused her to look at him with a complicated gaze as she somewhat understood why he did what he did, but she was still unable to see through his true thoughts.

Just what kind of person was he? Just someone who would slaughter the world for his family or someone who was profoundly scheming that he was using them by acting to save them?

Heaving an invisible sigh, she turned around and hovered.

”Weʼll talk on our way to your residence.”

”Alright.”

Davis nodded. He took out his status plate and activated one of its many functions.

It turned into a ray of light and led him to the distance.

The status plate had many functions stored within it.

Not only was the status plate the key to his residence, but it would also record his soul fluctuations on the life jade tablet in his master room. In the case he died, the residence would be locked and could only be opened by the authorities, whereby they would perform last rites such as informing his family and giving them space to live for a while according to his achievements before asking them to leave.

Such was the life of a disciple.

But for a true disciple like him, it would be thousands of years before his family would be asked to leave. He had read such perks inscribed within the rule book, and it was the same for Divergents, so it could be said that the Aurora Cloud Gate was truly good to their disciples.

Nonetheless, as they flew in the skies, crossing many floating islands, Zora Luan finally opened her mouth.

”The Longstrand Family… my Luan Clan and many others who could enter the important departments of the Aurora Cloud Gate also know of its many secrets. We usually donʼt discuss it in closed doors, much less speak about it outside, but to make you understand why Ruven Longstrand would be willing to accept this exchange is because-”

”That you people have already come into contact with Divergents before.”

”-Precisely.”

Davis couldnʼt help but chuckle at Zora Luanʼs acknowledgment. Could those Divergents and he be compared in the same length? He was an Anarchic Divergent, for heavenʼs sake, but it seemed like none of them had any idea about it except Elder Aradiel Furiose and Saintess Lunaria.

On the other hand, Zora Luan nodded at him, finding that he was quick to understand what she was trying to say. She couldnʼt help but treat him as her junior disciple more as she opened her mouth and continued.

”There are a lot of Divergents in the Aurora Cloud Gate, some hidden among the core disciples and some among the true disciples. Even the higher-ups could be one of them. We canʼt tell them apart from normal people until we see their tribulations or if they gave away their identity by using some unearthly powers like using heavenly lightning. Even if they are known to the world, they could be disguising themselves under another identity like you.”

”So Iʼm the troublemaker now?” Davisʼs lips twitched.

”Most probably, yes. Even if the world knew that there were some Divergents hiding here, they werenʼt as excellent and frightening as you to be cautious of them. It wasnʼt worth offending the Aurora Cloud Gate over it, but you are different. You… you are too powerful… for the powers to leave you alone...”

Zora Luan shook her head lightly, ”However, Divergents here are mostly lonely people. They wouldnʼt try to bring anyone trouble unless someone truly hurt them, so many still stay hidden even to this day. As for me, I only know two or three of them, but the number of times I talked to them could only be counted on one hand that I could say with certainty that I talked to you more.”

”Really? Who are they?” Davisʼs eyes lit up.

However, Zora Luan smiled behind her veil.

”Iʼm sorry. Although I can understand your excitement of wanting to meet fellow Divergents, weʼre not supposed to leak the identity of other Divergents, even if the ones searching for them are Divergents. As families existing from time immemorial inside the Aurora Cloud Gate, we have our own rules imposed on us.”

”Oh… thatʼs fine.”

Davis felt that it was a pity, but sooner or later, he imagined that he would see them. Otherwise, he would start suspecting fate if it had other worse things in store for him. Since fate could send Myria against him, it would be very well capable of it once more and, perhaps, many times in the form of other Divergents.

He wasnʼt a cautious person for nothing, already seeing what kind of dangers he could come into contact with.

ʼSpeaking of dangers…ʼ Davisʼs eyes narrowed as he wanted to ask once again, ”So I should be careful of the Fire Phoenix and Earth Dragons here? I meant the Immortal Kings, of course...”

”Aha~”

Zora Luan couldnʼt help but laugh at his complete disdain for Immortal Stage Experts. It was like he didnʼt have them in his eyes. However, considering there was a new rumor that he took down Immortal Kings with his immortal beast mount, which made her understand that it was no wonder, he would look down on them, perhaps even on her, as she couldnʼt sense him being cautious with her.

Still, she was curious about his death-attributed wolf but true to her self, she stayed behind the rules and didnʼt probe deeper.

But at this moment, the ray of light finally came to a stop above a floating island.

Davis and the others also stopped while the formerʼs eyes lit up as he saw his residence.

”Wonderful…”

A breath of joy left his mouth as his expression turned into a deep smile, seemingly satisfied with what he got.
