Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2454 Distraction

A hundred Mid-Level Immortal Crystals approached Davis in the air.

Each crystal was the size of an adult head and looked like a semi-transparent white sphere, teeming full of heaven and earth energy. The energy it held was equivalent thousand times the capacity of a fist-sized sphere, not to mention the purity was also greater.

The value of these immortal crystals would go no less than 500,000 Low-Level Immortal Crystals. However, that was just the exchange rate in the rich Aurora Cloud Gate. Outside, it may go for more or even a million Low-Level Immortal Crystals. That was ten times higher than its capacity!

That was how rare Mid-Level Immortal Crystals were. After all, it was used by Immortal King existences for their cultivation!

Davis received the immortal crystals as he waved his hand. They disappeared into his spatial ring before he raised both his hands and cupped his fists, appearing respectful.

”Now, you somewhat deserve to have my time above this stage.”

”Heh!”

Goren Azuremark scoffed as his undulations surged, rising from Level One Immortal Stage to Level Two Immortal Stage. It didnʼt stop as it climbed all the way to Level Five Immortal Stage, throbbing with a destructive might that caused people to suck in a breath of cold air.

Although there was some doubt in his heart as the hundred Mid-Level Immortal Crystals was not a significant amount to him, it was not something he would easily part with either. However, beating this overly arrogant disciple meant garnering a good reputation from fellow disciples, especially the core disciples. That was more valuable than some hundred Mid-Level Immortal Crystals.

ʼSo itʼs someone from the Azure Flame Kirin Clan...ʼ

Davis remembered that the Blazing Thunderlight Kirin was a mixed magical beast between the Azure Flame Kirin and Obsidian Lightning Kirin. To be able to give birth to such an entity, the Azure Flame Kirin must be strong, although he didnʼt know if the Azuremark Family or Clan was the main branch.

Seeing this escalation, Zora Luan wanted to stop this battle. In fact, she thought of stopping the altercation at many junctures, but she had previously been impressed by Feng Chuʼs physical prowess that had been able to stop an immortal while still being a mortal.

She saw the immense potential in him and inwardly thought of him to be a core disciple material when she recruited him, and now that she saw that she was being proved right with how powerful he was in the previous match, she couldnʼt help but stay her hand.

However, that would mean the trial conducted for Davis was wrong. How could the Aurora Cloud Gateʼs recruitment be wrong?

It had never been wrong, so that was why she was disappointed in her decision. Her word wouldʼve been taken for granted, and he wouldʼve become a core disciple while her reputation was at stake. It didnʼt make sense to her unless it was an artificial error.

Inwardly, she felt some anger, wanting to file a complaint to the Recruitment Department over this matter. After all, her reputation had been dragged to the mud, and her contribution points were deducted. Her happiness over becoming an Immortal King Beast was quickly squashed by this matter.

But little did she know that her word wasnʼt taken into account because Feng Chu was classified as a Divergent by the Law Enforcement Elder, and that privilege she had given him had been revoked. Since she wasnʼt provided a reason for her contribution points being extracted in order to protect his identity as a Divergent, she could only come to the conclusion that Feng Chu wasnʼt up to the mark.

Nonetheless, she couldnʼt help but inadvertently clench her fists, hoping that Feng Chu would win.

”Letʼs start.” As Davisʼs voice echoed out, Goren Azuremark flew towards him in a bold form.

A wave of azure flames surged around his body as they gathered before his palm. He took his hand back as he grabbed the azure air and unleashed them towards Davis as his fist strode forward.

*Sizzle!!~*

The air seared in the wake of azure flames soaring through the battle stage as they sought to burn Davis alive.

The terrifying azure flames heralded immolative properties that had Davisʼs eyes go wide, feeling that it was quite reminiscent of heavenly flames. It was just like how the Blazing Thunderlight Kirinʼs extinction lightning was of similar nature to heavenly lightning.

ʼNo… did that extinction lightning originally belong to the Obsidian Lightning Kirin…?ʼ

Davis wondered as his eyes reflected the azure flames heading towards him. It was so slow that many unwanted thoughts ran in his head the moment before he finally decided to make a move.

He jumped out of the way at the last second, the azure flames rushing past him. However, he couldnʼt help but narrow his eyes at this moment.

”Ahh! Just a bit, and he wouldʼve burned to a crisp...”

”Senior brother, Goren, make sure to teach him an unforgettable lesson…!”

Without even having to tell him, Goren Azuremark moved like a kirin in the air, using some elusive movement art that made him appear like a kirin traversing through the clouds.

It left numerous afterimages in the wake of his path as an azure mist emerged, and just when Davis thought he would stop and unleash an attack after reaching an optimal distance from the corner of his eye, his foot suddenly exploded with some power as he appeared before him in an instant.

”Azure Night Star~”

With a powerful momentum, Goren Azuremark grew an azure star out of his palm. It grew to exude a frightening prowess of the peak of Level Five Immortal Stage before it struck Davis.

*Booom!!~*

A huge azure explosion filled the land, even enveloping the user itself.

However, Goren Azuremark once again stomped his foot towards Davis and used the explosionʼs force to retreat like a hissing arrow. His attack was fast, precise, and left no maneuver to dodge, sealing Davis in a blazing coffin of azure flames.

”...!”

Zora Luanʼs expression changed. Even if Feng Chu had a powerful physical body, it would be difficult to come out unscathed before that kind of attack. Even she wouldnʼt be able to defend at such a close range and no guard even if her physical body was at the attackʼs level. Even as a magical beast, she would take immense damage, much less a human.

ʼWhy was Feng Chu just standing there like a fool, his gaze actually moving elsewhere at the battle?ʼ She couldnʼt help but fume and become worried.

However, noticing the two women not displaying an ounce of emotion, especially Ellia, who was so intimate with him, her heart couldnʼt help but skip a beat for some reason.

The crowd was in awe over Goren Azuremarkʼs move.

The intensity of the azure flames soared, but suddenly, they became minimal and completely disappeared out of the air, leaving a black-robed inner disciple still standing there with some contemplative expression on his face.

”…!?”

Goren Azuremark became stunned as he witnessed this scene.

Whatʼs going on? How come this new disciple was unscathed? Did he use a talisman or protective treasure of some kind to protect himself? In that case, where are residual undulations of such protective devices? This could be considered cheating.

As he used his soul sense to investigate, Davis glanced at a particular location using his pupils one more time in a secretive manner before he pursed his lips.

ʼHhm. For some reason, Nightveil is also here…?ʼ
