Chapter 447: The First Satellite Experiment

Kenichi sat in his laboratory, researching ninjutsu with Danzo.

Although Hiruzen had become uncooperative because of Obito’s schemes and Jiraiya’s sudden appearance to fight him, Kenichi had no intention of forcing Hiruzen to agree. After all, Jiraiya had indeed died by his hand, and Kenichi did not want Hiruzen working for him while harboring hatred.

”You killed Jiraiya.”

Danzo was forming hand seals to construct a ninjutsu as he spoke to Kenichi.

”Yes.”

Kenichi nodded.

He had indeed killed Jiraiya, and Danzo had witnessed the scene at the time.

Although Danzo had the advantage of Edo Tensei, his strength was still somewhat lacking when facing Jiraiya. If Jiraiya had not recklessly charged straight toward Kenichi, Danzo would not have been able to break one of Jiraiya’s legs.

In the end, it had been Jiraiya’s own choice.

He had chosen to sacrifice one leg for the sake of his plan to attack Kenichi.

But it had still been too late.

Kenichi’s ninjutsu had instantly vaporized Danzo, who had been standing far away.

”Aren’t you afraid Konoha will retaliate against you for doing this?” Danzo looked at the calm Kenichi, somewhat unable to understand the young man’s thoughts. ”Tsunade and Jiraiya had a very good relationship.”

Even though an invasion might be approaching at any moment, Kenichi still had the leisure to stay here and research how to make a stone fly farther?

Could making a stone fly farther solve the current problem?

Danzo was also a little curious about what Minato would think after hearing the news. After all, Minato had been Jiraiya’s student.

”What’s the point of worrying?” Kenichi said calmly. ”Will Konoha decide not to attack just because I’m worried?”

Danzo could not help glancing at Kenichi after hearing this.

He had not expected this brat to be so composed.

Kenichi formed hand seals.

Recently, he had been using his Mangekyo Sharingan rather frequently, so it was not ideal to use it right now to construct ninjutsu. Fortunately, his understanding of ninjutsu had already deepened, so even without using his Mangekyo Sharingan, he could still make improvements.

Wind Release erupted from Kenichi’s mouth.

The powerful impact instantly pushed his body backward. However, with the body he had strengthened through training, Kenichi endured the immense recoil.

”Compared to the Airship Burst Technique, this revised ninjutsu has slightly stronger recoil.”

Kenichi scratched his head.

He was not sure whether this ninjutsu would achieve the desired effect, but it was time to go outside and test it.

”Amamiya brat.”

Just as Kenichi was about to go out and continue experimenting with his stones, he heard Danzo call out to him.

Kenichi turned his head and saw Danzo drawing something on the table.

”Although I don’t particularly like you, I’m already dead now, so those things no longer matter.”

Danzo handed the item to Kenichi.

Kenichi took it in confusion and discovered that it was a map.

It was a map of the Land of Fire, and one location on it had been marked with an X.

”When I was in Root, to prevent Hiruzen from withholding Root’s funds, I stored some savings here and never told anyone else,” Danzo explained after seeing Kenichi’s confusion.

Kenichi was stunned.

He truly had not expected Danzo to give him something like this.

After all, his relationship with Danzo was not good. At present, it was closer to Kenichi coercing Danzo into cooperating with him.

However, Kenichi still accepted the map Danzo had given him. Although he did not know how much money Danzo had hidden there, extra income was always a good thing.

The Land of Water was currently living off its accumulated resources. With the new capital’s design plan about to be introduced, the Land of Water would almost certainly have to reopen cargo transport. After all, the Land of Water was an island nation, surrounded by the sea. It had abundant fishing resources, but it lacked many other things.

This had also caused cargo transport in the Land of Water to become extremely developed.

Gato, for example, was a wealthy man who had made his fortune in the Land of Water and had once been extorted by Kenichi.

Kenichi had considered whether to drain the pond to catch all the fish and confiscate all the wealth of the rich people in the Land of Water. But the consequences of doing so would be severe, so he ultimately gave up on the idea of getting rich all at once.

”Is there anything you need my help with?”

Kenichi looked at Danzo and asked.

He did not believe Danzo was helping him unconditionally. The other party must have some purpose of his own.

”There’s nothing I need help with.”

Danzo waved his hand.

”I simply don’t want these funds to remain buried underground forever. It’s better to use them for something practical.”

Danzo had once thought about his clan, but later, he gave up on that idea.

Aside from him, the Shimura Clan had no outstanding ninja.

Leaving those funds to them would be useless. It might even bring disaster upon them because of the enormous amount involved.

Kenichi looked at Danzo with a strange expression.

He truly had not expected Danzo to think that way.

But it did not matter.

He only needed to remember this himself.

When Kenichi walked out of the laboratory, he saw Hikari leaning against a pillar in front of the laboratory. Her head kept bobbing up and down, making him almost laugh.

”Hikari, why are you...”

Kenichi was about to wake her when he noticed that Hikari seemed to be holding something in her hand.

He looked over curiously and found that she was holding a key.

Kenichi breathed a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, it was not a gift. Otherwise, he really would not know where to put it.

”Hikari?”

Kenichi gently nudged Hikari.

She opened her eyes in a daze. After seeing Kenichi in front of her, she blankly wiped the drool from the corner of her mouth.

Then her face instantly turned red.

”Amamiya-nii...”

Hikari awkwardly wiped the drool from the corner of her mouth, her face flushing crimson.

It was an utterly embarrassing moment.

”Why did you fall asleep here?”

Kenichi looked at Hikari with amusement.

He had not expected the gentle and lovely Hikari to drool too.

Then again, Kenichi himself had also used to drool during lunch breaks when he was in school.

”Amamiya-nii, I wasn’t much help during the last battle. I’m sorry!”

Hikari bowed.

Kenichi quickly helped her up, then pinched her cheek with a mixture of amusement and exasperation.

He had deliberately not allowed Hikari to help at the time.

Hikari was very important to him.

He needed Hikari’s Mangekyo ability to develop the Internet. To be honest, Kenichi also had not thought that dealing with Obito would be so troublesome, even without Hikari’s help.

”So Hikari made this for you, big brother!”

Hikari handed the key in her hand to Kenichi.

Kenichi accepted it blankly.

What did Hikari mean?

Wasn’t this just a key?

”Big brother, the room is over there!”

Hikari pointed to a certain place, then looked at Kenichi excitedly.

A sense of danger slowly rose in Kenichi’s heart.

This little girl, Hikari, could not have...

Thinking this, Kenichi picked up the key in his hand and nervously walked to the room Hikari had pointed at. He inserted the key and opened the door.

What appeared before him made Kenichi freeze in place.

It was a room full of clothes.

From hats to tops to bottoms, everything was there.

Kenichi also noticed that the quality of the clothes seemed to progress as they went farther in. The clothes at the very front looked the most normal, while the farther back they were, the stranger they appeared.

But now Kenichi understood.

He finally understood why Hikari had given him a key.

”Hikari, these clothes...”

Kenichi glanced around and counted the clothes before him.

There were three hundred and sixty-five sets in total.

Three hundred and sixty-five sets.

And these were not merely three hundred and sixty-five tops. They were complete outfits, from tops to bottoms to hats, with everything included.

”Hikari can’t do anything...”

Hikari bashfully lowered her head.

In Hikari’s memories, the happiest time each year had always been New Year.

She would eat with her parents, then cuddle with her mother, and the next morning, when she woke up, she would receive a brand-new outfit handmade by her mother.

That had been the best gift Hikari had ever received.

Kenichi looked at Hikari and could not resist reaching out to ruffle her hair.

This little girl was always so silly.

Making so many sets of clothes. Did she want him to wear a different outfit for an entire year?

He estimated that after one year passed, there would be another year’s worth of clothes waiting for him.

Kenichi tried on the top Hikari had made.

It fit quite well, and the material was excellent. The stitching was barely noticeable, making it very comfortable to wear.

”I like it very much.”

Kenichi smiled and rubbed Hikari’s head.

Hikari immediately beamed with joy.

Happy times were always short-lived.

After sending Hikari back to rest, Kenichi boarded the airship and flew high into the sky. He now needed to confirm whether his ninjutsu improvement had succeeded.

”How are the new clothes?”

A Shadow Clone stood nearby, looking at the clothes Kenichi was wearing, and asked.

”Not bad.”

Kenichi fiddled with the radar he had made.

This radar had been created some time ago, but it had not yet been tested in actual use. Now was the time to try it out.

”I think we could consider trying to incorporate aerodynamics and things like supersonic missiles.”

The Shadow Clone tried standing on the radar stone.

It was acceptable. At least he could stand on it. If he lay down, part of his legs would be left hanging outside.

”How can you do that without professional knowledge?”

Kenichi rolled his eyes.

Supersonic missiles?

Why not just create a wormhole while they were at it?

Although ninjutsu in the Shinobi World might reach similar levels in some ways, technology was a different matter.

Although this radar was also a ninjutsu version, it was still very different from a proper satellite.

”That problem needs to be solved by you, the main body. Anyway, I’m the one going up as the suicide squad.”

The Shadow Clone was very clear about his role.

Kenichi patted his shoulder, then threw both the satellite and the Shadow Clone out.

The Shadow Clone used the previously improved Airship Burst Technique without hesitation and instantly flew upward while stepping on the stone.

But the stone fell down.

Kenichi’s mouth twitched.

Thankfully, he had chosen an uninhabited area for this experiment. Otherwise, if that stone fell, it would probably kill someone on the spot.

”Huh?”

Kenichi looked up.

The Shadow Clone had disappeared very quickly, having already flown to an extremely high position.

Kenichi felt that he had fallen into a misconception.

Without a stone, could the Shadow Clone not fly on his own?

It was just that the speed and direction of the flight would be difficult to stabilize. Each flight was actually relying on...

”So, would tying it to a high-altitude balloon be better?”

Kenichi pondered for a moment.

But it seemed that would not work either.

The high-altitude balloon manufacturing technology here was not mature. The previous high-altitude balloons could only rise slightly higher than airships.

Moreover, with such strong recoil, whether the balloon could withstand it was still a question.

”Now we can only wait.”

Kenichi shook his head, then slowly lowered the airship.

The Shadow Clone did not need an airship. It was only a clone and could be dispelled later. Kenichi could determine whether the experiment had succeeded based on the memories he would receive.

”So next...”

Kenichi looked in a certain direction and scratched his head.

In the end, he still piloted the airship over.

Soon, Kenichi found what he was looking for.

He parked the airship nearby, then took a bouquet of flowers from a scroll and held it in his hand.

Before him was a quiet forest with beautiful scenery. Birds sang among the trees, and the breeze stirred the leaves with a soft rustle.

Kenichi looked at the grave before him.

It was a very traditional grave, and the name Jiraiya was written on the tombstone.

This was Jiraiya’s grave.

Beside the tombstone sat a bouquet of paper flowers and several novels placed inside glass containers.

Kenichi could see them clearly.

They were the novels Jiraiya had written, from his earliest The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi to The Story of Me and the Orochimaru Hime.

Kenichi placed the flowers in his hand beside Jiraiya’s tombstone, then looked at the grave before him.

He had once considered whether to keep some of Jiraiya’s remains, perhaps to revive him or use Edo Tensei.

But he had given up on that idea.

If he did something like that, his teacher would probably truly turn against him.

”But will Obito...”

Kenichi scratched his head.

Obito had also learned Edo Tensei.
