Chapter 412: High-Altitude Hot Air Balloon

A scorching, dazzling light tore across the night sky, illuminating Amamiya Kenichi’s face.

Six or seven roaring fire dragons burst from the dark forest and charged toward the Ninja Allied Forces’ encampment. They were quickly intercepted, but the attack still succeeded in putting the entire camp on high alert.

”...Could someone else be trying to attack the Ninja Allied Forces here?” Minato found it difficult to understand.

This was a place where ninja from four major villages were stationed. Who would still think of attacking such a place?

Danzo narrowed his eyes and stared ahead.

He did not think this was an attack. It looked more like a warning, a way of informing the Ninja Allied Forces that they should be on guard.

But that made no sense.

Their arrival should not have alerted anyone. Could it be that a Hyuga clan ninja had observed them?

But if a Hyuga clan ninja had seen them, then the enemy should have issued a direct warning before launching an attack against them. Why release a Fire Release Ninjutsu toward the encampment instead?

”Unless the attacker has something wrong with their brain,” Danzo said, looking in the direction the attack had come from.

There had only been that one Fire Dragon Jutsu. Nothing else followed.

Even so, the Ninja Allied Forces’ encampment was already brightly lit, and dense groups of ninja had begun searching the surroundings.

”How interesting.” Amamiya Kenichi laughed softly.

Although he did not know the exact situation, he already had a likely suspect in mind.

The person most likely to use a Fire Dragon Jutsu of that scale to attack, or rather, to warn the Ninja Allied Forces, was Obito.

Aside from Obito, Amamiya Kenichi could not think of anyone else who would do something like this for no reason. Their arrival was supposed to be secret.

Furthermore, unless Konoha had gone insane, they would never choose to attack ninja from the other three great villages. That would be no different from digging their own grave.

Even if Konoha’s ninja wanted to attack Sunagakure or Iwagakure, that would still be far more reasonable than attacking here.

After eliminating those possibilities, Amamiya Kenichi knew who would do such a wicked thing.

It had to be that bastard Uchiha Obito.

And the one who discovered them was most likely Black Zetsu.

Thinking of this, Amamiya Kenichi quickly activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and scanned the surrounding area.

The composition of the soil, rocks, minerals, the tiny creatures crawling through the darkness, and all sorts of other information flooded into Amamiya Kenichi’s mind in an instant.

Amamiya Kenichi frowned slightly, then deactivated his Mangekyo Sharingan.

His development of his Dojutsu was still not comprehensive enough.

He felt that if his Dojutsu were fully developed, it could not only be used to analyze the essence of things, but also to scout enemies. After all, if the constituent elements of a human body were detected in complete darkness, then there had to be someone there.

That was why he had tried just now.

He wanted to see if he could detect any strange constituent elements and use them to determine Black Zetsu’s hiding place.

Unfortunately, before he could finish, his eyes had already begun to feel extremely uncomfortable. A patch of ground might look like nothing but dirt, yet it contained an overwhelming number of things, including microorganisms and tiny insects.

”Let’s go. We’ll leave this place first. They’re already on alert now.” Amamiya Kenichi was somewhat annoyed, but he could only temporarily withdraw.

He had already seen several ninja squads approaching.

”I think we can directly kill one of those squads, then replace their identities and infiltrate,” Danzo said, offering a different opinion.

Amamiya Kenichi glanced at him.

With the three of them acting together, it would not be difficult. He had the Mangekyo Sharingan and could use genjutsu for strong control. With Minato and Danzo assisting, they could indeed achieve that.

However, Amamiya Kenichi had other concerns.

Killing those ninja squads and replacing them was not the real problem. The Transformation Jutsu could accomplish that.

The troublesome part was not those ninja.

”No. Retreat first.” Amamiya Kenichi’s decision remained firm.

Seeing this, Danzo said nothing more and followed Amamiya Kenichi away from the area.

What Amamiya Kenichi truly feared was never the Ninja Allied Forces.

It was Black Zetsu and Obito, who were hiding somewhere unknown.

Especially Black Zetsu.

His stealth ability was exceptional, and he also seemed to possess some strange and powerful control ability. Even Obito, with his Mangekyo Sharingan activated, could be controlled by Black Zetsu for a short time.

Although the duration was brief, it was enough to be fatal.

If Black Zetsu suddenly rushed out and controlled him, things would become troublesome.

Amamiya Kenichi pinched the bridge of his nose.

Until he found a way to locate Black Zetsu, he had to admit that Black Zetsu was simply the most disgusting fellow in the world. If that ability were used in his previous life by a paparazzi reporter, it would definitely make a fortune.

’I wonder if Sensei’s research has yielded any results yet,’ Amamiya Kenichi sighed inwardly.

After conquering the Land of Water, Amamiya Kenichi had casually mentioned Black Zetsu to his Sensei during an experiment, using him as an example in a hypothetical question.

Who would have thought that this would immediately spark his Sensei’s interest?

Ever since then, his Sensei had remained in the laboratory and had not come out.

Watching the forest below descend into chaos, Amamiya Kenichi felt somewhat depressed.

This plan had originally been highly feasible. He had not expected that, as soon as they arrived in the forest and prepared to infiltrate, the whole thing would fall apart.

This was probably what people meant when they said plans could never keep up with changes.

”What do we do now?” Minato asked.

They were already here, and the Ninja Allied Forces might remain on high alert for a long time. It would no longer be easy to infiltrate.

”...” Amamiya Kenichi rubbed his temples.

After Obito’s little disturbance, the possibility of infiltration had decreased. Konoha would definitely have the Hyuga clan conduct a thorough inspection, and it was very likely that the searching ninja squads would also have to undergo reinspection when they returned.

However, Amamiya Kenichi still had another method.

He could fly an airship to the highest possible altitude and drop the bomb from above.

But that meant facing potential anti-air Ninjutsu. If the stationed allied forces destroyed the atomic bomb before it exploded, then the bomb would be wasted.

If he wanted to avoid alerting them, the best method was to increase the flight altitude, making the airship fly higher than conventional models. This would minimize the chance of detection.

Then, he would paint the atomic bomb black to reduce the possibility of it being discovered.

That should create a similar effect.

With that in mind, Amamiya Kenichi decided to try it.

However, the airship could not fly that high. Any higher, and it would exceed the limits of its materials.

Fortunately, Amamiya Kenichi had another option.

For example, the hot air balloon he had brought out first.

Strictly speaking, airships could generally fly higher than hot air balloons.

But this was the Ninja World.

The Ninja World’s material technology meant that this airship could not fly higher than a hot air balloon. If he made an airship using hot air balloon materials, tiny air holes would appear.

That was why, when Amamiya Kenichi made airships, he always chose other materials and had to apply a special layer of oil for protection.

Hot air balloons did not have as many restrictions.

A hot air balloon built purely for altitude could fly extremely high, and Shadow Clones could also solve the issue of test pilots.

He could even stay here himself and attract the attention of Obito and Black Zetsu. Although he could not detect Obito right now, he only needed to know that Obito and Black Zetsu were definitely watching him.

”Let me think first.” Amamiya Kenichi took Minato and Danzo onto the airship, then temporarily moved away from the forest below.

At the same time, he began preparing to construct a high-altitude hot air balloon.

High-altitude hot air balloons were somewhat different from ordinary ones.

However, Amamiya Kenichi himself was not confident that he could make one properly, because even the most common and practical zero-pressure balloons could not be created with the current technology of the Ninja World.

He could only do his best to make a balloon with a stable material structure and a certain degree of stretch and elasticity.

As for inflation, that could only be handled by Shadow Clones.

The problem with this approach was that the balloon would be a single-use item.

Even the person riding the high-altitude hot air balloon would be expendable. Basically, it was the type that went up and usually did not come down.

After all, the higher one flew, the more treacherous and unpredictable the weather conditions became. Whether the weather in the Ninja World followed the same principles as in his previous life was also another question.

Fortunately, the one riding the high-altitude hot air balloon would be a Shadow Clone, so the problem was not too serious.

Luckily, Amamiya Kenichi’s scrolls contained plenty of materials, allowing him to create a pure black hot air balloon.

A hot air balloon like this was only suitable for nighttime use. It definitely could not be used during the day.

Under direct sunlight, the balloon’s temperature would rise too quickly, making it prone to bursting.

”Though it isn’t exactly safe right now either...” Amamiya Kenichi muttered, looking at the hot air balloon in front of him.

Getting it to fly would not be much of a problem.

The question was how high it could go.

With that in mind, Amamiya Kenichi had a Shadow Clone board the hot air balloon, then watched as it vanished into the night sky.

After a while, a memory returned to his mind.

Amamiya Kenichi fell into thought.

According to the memory transmitted by the Shadow Clone, the high-altitude hot air balloon had indeed flown higher.

Although the increase was not huge, it was still about two hundred meters higher than the hot air balloons Amamiya Kenichi had made before.

He did not know whether the other ninja villages could make hot air balloons that flew even higher, but Amamiya Kenichi felt the possibility was not very high.

Besides, he did not have any better options now.

He could only make another high-altitude hot air balloon, paint it black, and have a Shadow Clone carry the scroll containing the atomic bomb up with it.

Meanwhile, Amamiya Kenichi took the airship to a nearby forest and stood atop the trees, observing the Ninja Allied Forces’ encampment.

On the way, Amamiya Kenichi activated his Mangekyo Sharingan again and scanned the surroundings, but still found nothing.

He even saw drifting protein traces rising from the soil where insects were moving, but he did not see anything that seemed to be Black Zetsu.

”I should have chopped Black Zetsu back then and taken a piece of his flesh. That way, I could directly analyze the flesh, then...” Amamiya Kenichi paused.

He thought of something.

When the Mangekyo Sharingan observed matter, it analyzed the constituent elements of that matter.

Although there were no two identical leaves in the world, and everyone’s composition was different, one person might have more fat while another might have less, things of the same type should still have roughly similar basic constituent elements.

For example, the metasequoia-like plant beneath his feet.

At the very least, it would be significantly different from humans, soil insects, and so on.

So, could he try to directly analyze the complete constituent elements of a metasequoia all at once, archive it, and then skip over metasequoia when distinguishing things the next time?

”It doesn’t seem impossible.” Amamiya Kenichi became somewhat interested.

In any case, he had to pretend to attract Black Zetsu’s attention now, so researching something else was fine.

The only problem was that Amamiya Kenichi was not sure whether his idea would succeed.

Still, he felt that his Mangekyo Sharingan ability should not be limited to only this much.

So Amamiya Kenichi activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and stared at the metasequoia beneath his feet, constantly analyzing its composition while intentionally omitting some wriggling protein traces from the analysis.

”...Mangekyo Sharingan?” Danzo looked at Amamiya Kenichi’s eerie eyes, his gaze carrying both shock and a trace of greed.

The Mangekyo Sharingan truly was a good thing.

He had once used Izanagi to successfully escape pursuit from the remnants of the Akatsuki. That power was incredibly useful, and Danzo was confident he could reach Kage-level strength relying on it.

”What are you planning to do?” Minato narrowed his eyes at Danzo, then stepped forward.

With this, no matter what Danzo intended, he would not be able to threaten Amamiya Kenichi behind him.

”Don’t worry, Fourth Hokage. I no longer have those desires.” Danzo’s eyes returned to clarity, and he calmly shook his head.

He admitted that, when he first saw the Mangekyo Sharingan, he had indeed been tempted.

But he quickly calmed down.

He was already dead. What use would the Mangekyo Sharingan be to him now?

Most importantly, he could not defeat Amamiya Kenichi anyway.

Amamiya Kenichi looked up. His Mangekyo Sharingan had already deactivated.

Observing Edo Tensei placed a heavy burden on his Dojutsu. Before advancing to the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, he did not intend to overuse his abilities.

He had naturally noticed the dispute just now, but he did not care.

Danzo had no chance to act.

Amamiya Kenichi could dispel Edo Tensei with a single thought, so naturally, he did not need to worry about Danzo attacking him.

”The metasequoia analysis is complete. As for whether my idea can actually work...” Amamiya Kenichi was a little excited.

And at that moment, a roaring fire dragon rushed toward the ninja base not far ahead.

Amamiya Kenichi’s eyes narrowed.

But Minato was even faster than him, instantly rushing toward the location where the Ninjutsu had been released.
