Chapter 439: Obito Unexpectedly Learns News of Rin Nohara

Today was a big day.

Amamiya Kenichi stood on the dock, gazing into the distance.

The boundless ocean stretched endlessly before him, with no other islands or land in sight.

It had to be said that although the ninja world was somewhat small, it still had a basic amount of territory. However, the ocean here seemed to occupy a vast amount of space, which caused a persistent shortage of arable land.

Once the ninja world was unified in the future, Kenichi planned to let the people rest for a period of time. During that process, he would unify the scattered cultural systems of the ninja world and aim to establish a common framework.

However, it was strange.

The languages and written scripts of the ninja world were fundamentally the same, yet the ninja world lacked the foundation for true grand unification.

”At that time, I can try to study the overall map of the ninja world, then see how to develop agriculture and science,” Kenichi muttered.

He looked at the sea before him, his eyes somewhat distant, pondering which path he should take in the future.

Although there was still a long way to go before the ninja world could be unified, Kenichi felt that as long as the clones could successfully merge into the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, he could accelerate the entire process.

In short, what Kenichi needed most right now was time.

As long as he had enough time, he could narrow the gap between himself and Uchiha Madara, and eventually defeat Madara head-on.

But it did not matter.

The phone in his pocket had just fallen silent.

”Kenichi, have you formed some kind of cooperative relationship with the leader?” Orochimaru’s voice came from the phone.

Hearing his teacher’s question, Kenichi fell silent for a moment, then gave a soft hum of confirmation.

He had indeed formed a cooperative relationship with the leader.

What he had not expected was that his teacher had seen through it.

Since Orochimaru had seen through it, what about the other members of the Akatsuki?

Had they noticed anything unusual?

The others did not matter much.

Kenichi simply did not want to provoke Obito and Black Zetsu’s nerves.

As long as he could keep those two stable for now, his plan still had a chance of success.

The call disconnected.

It seemed his teacher only wanted to understand that one question.

Kenichi glanced in the direction of Orochimaru’s laboratory and wondered what his teacher was thinking.

He also wondered whether there were any other Ōtsutsuki in the ninja world.

If there were, would they also be hiding like Black Zetsu?

If those people did not want to be discovered, finding them would not be easy, not even for Nagato, who possessed the Rinnegan.

The Land of Water was an island nation, and the weather of island nations often changed quickly.

Not long after, the previously clear weather became completely overcast.

The sea breeze swept past the members of the Akatsuki.

Kenichi looked up and saw that dark clouds had already covered the sky.

The clouds grew heavier, and the air became oppressive.

A storm was coming, and the waves were no longer calm.

Lightning patterns appeared at the corners of Kenichi’s eyes.

At the edge of the sea, several ships slowly appeared in his vision.

Kenichi knew that the main force had arrived.

Soon, the ships reached the dock.

After the vessels stopped, Konan, dressed in the standard black robe with red clouds of the Akatsuki, was the first to fly down.

Pain followed closely behind her.

Behind them, several large boxes were unloaded.

”Leader, are you the only ones from the Akatsuki who came?” Kenichi first greeted Konan, then looked at Pain.

The Rinnegan in Pain’s eyes made Kenichi feel a little envious.

”Some members are out on missions,” Pain said coldly.

Kenichi did not mind. He curiously looked around, then saw Sasori and Deidara come down as well, both carrying various items, large and small.

”Land of Water... what a nostalgic place,” Kisame Hoshigaki said as he disembarked from the ship.

He looked at the Land of Water, now changed beyond recognition, with a hint of nostalgia in his eyes.

On the dock, the most talkative person was not Kisame, who had returned to his homeland.

It was Obito.

”Senior Jade!”

The next person to descend made Kenichi’s eyes narrow slightly.

It was Uchiha Obito.

At this moment, he was wearing a mask, playing the role of Tobi, and his voice was full of excitement.

”Senior Jade, you’re amazing for taking over the Land of Water! You truly are my idol!”

Obito smiled, looking very ”happy.”

”Oh, it’s Tobi. You came to the Land of Water too?” Kenichi looked at Tobi in front of him, revealing a kind smile.

Then, like an elder brother, he walked over and patted Tobi on the back.

”Senior Jade, you’re truly too strong! Having a genius like you in the Akatsuki is enough, isn’t it?” Obito said with exaggerated enthusiasm.

Kenichi looked behind Obito but did not see Black Zetsu.

Had that guy already infiltrated the Land of Water?

That was truly disgusting.

Even though Kenichi knew Black Zetsu might be hiding nearby and spying for information, he currently had no way to deal with him.

”Let’s go then. I’ll take you to the location I found earlier for the Akatsuki’s base,” Kenichi said with a chuckle, leading Konan and Nagato forward.

However, when he saw the boxes carried by the Pains, Kenichi’s expression became a little strange.

Was Nagato lying inside those boxes?

”Senior Jade, where is the old site of Kirigakure? Can I go take a look?” Obito asked.

Along the way, Obito frantically asked all sorts of questions, making Kenichi’s scalp tingle.

However, Kenichi also knew that Obito was probably trying to dig a pit for him through casual conversation.

Or perhaps he wanted to probe for information.

For the first time, Kenichi felt that this path was far too long.

He really did not know how Konan had chosen it back then.

They should have simply set up the Akatsuki’s base at the border of the country, so he would not have to endure Obito’s torment.

”Senior Jade!” Obito came again.

”What’s wrong?” Kenichi felt somewhat impatient, but to avoid arousing Obito’s suspicion, he still asked amiably.

”Senior Jade, look. This is something I bought outside!” Obito smiled and took out an item.

Kenichi was startled.

He was not surprised that Obito had obtained a Rin Nohara doll.

After learning that Obito had caused chaos in Konoha, Kenichi had already understood that Obito might have seen Rin’s doll, which made him furious and ashamed.

However, what Kenichi had not expected was that Obito had actually made a similar doll himself and brought it out to question him.

After all, Obito taking out this item and asking him about it surely meant he wanted to test him.

As for what Obito would do after the test, Kenichi did not know.

But it had to be said that this was indeed something Obito would do.

Facing the possibility of exposing his true identity for a doll, a normal villain would probably not do something like this.

But Obito did.

Was he an idiot?

Or was Obito no longer planning to pretend and intended to reveal everything?

Kenichi could only think of these possibilities.

With a muffled rumble in the sky, followed by a flash of lightning, Kenichi saw what Obito had taken out.

It was indeed a doll of Rin Nohara.

However, it was much cruder and of far lower quality. It was completely unlike the one Sasori had made.

”Eh? This... isn’t this Rin Nohara?” Kenichi said in surprise.

The furious Obito froze for a moment and looked blankly at Kenichi.

What was with this reaction?

Did Amamiya Kenichi know Rin Nohara?

”Ri-Rin Nohara? Senior Jade, how do you know who she is?” Obito forcefully suppressed the surprise and shock in his heart, then asked urgently.

Kenichi heard this and showed a nostalgic smile.

”I once heard my friend mention this girl, and I also saw her once when I was young.”

Obito immediately knew who Kenichi was talking about.

Kakashi.

How did he remember?

Obito’s consciousness blurred for an instant.

Amamiya Kenichi, this bastard, was about the same age as him and Kakashi, perhaps even a year older.

If that was the case, it was indeed possible that Kenichi had seen Rin Nohara.

But Obito remembered that after Rin started school, there had been no one named Amamiya Kenichi around her.

If it was Kakashi, then it would not be strange.

Kakashi should have photos of himself and Rin.

Previously, Kenichi had intended to strike Obito and drive him completely insane.

But now, Obito himself had presented a new way to play.

”How do you have a doll of Rin Nohara?” Kenichi asked Obito curiously.

He had been pondering how to make the resurrected Rin appear more subtly.

But now, the item Obito had taken out gave him a perfect opening.

”I... I was doing a mission and accidentally saw it in a shop... saw it...” Obito subconsciously gave the answer he had prepared earlier.

But then, he discovered another problem.

”But I don’t remember Rin ever saying she had been made into a doll by someone, Tobi. Where did you get this?” Kenichi asked curiously.

Obito froze.

What did Kenichi just say?

He did not remember Rin Nohara ever saying she had been made into a doll by someone?

Rin?

”Ah? Are you talking about Rin Nohara? She’s in the New Capital now, but she was only recently revived, so she might not be suitable for meeting people yet,” Kenichi suddenly slapped his palm, then said with some difficulty.

Obito stood rooted to the spot.

What had he just heard?

Kenichi said he would ask Rin when he got back?

Was it Rin Nohara?

It could only be Rin Nohara, right?

After all, he had taken out Rin’s doll.

But how would Kenichi ask Rin Nohara?

Could it be...

Could it be...

Obito thought of a possibility.

His mind was filled with one sentence.

Rin Nohara was in the New Capital.

She had only recently been revived.

Obito’s mood gradually calmed.

And as he looked at Kenichi, his eyes slowly became dangerous beneath the mask.

It really was you, you bastard.

Amamiya Kenichi!

Only someone like you could do something like this!

You must have already known my true identity, which is why you are trying to use Rin against me!

Obito was almost driven mad with anger.

If it were anything else, he could have endured it.

But when it came to Rin Nohara, Obito could not tolerate even the slightest offense.

Even knowing that such a direct question might expose his true identity, Obito still did it.

”Senior Jade! Can I meet this girl?” Obito asked eagerly.

He even disregarded maintaining his persona.

In his mind, there was only that mad thought.

That possibility that made him tremble just by thinking about it.

”Tobi, what’s wrong?” Kenichi looked at the swaying Obito with a face full of ”concern.”

Inside, he was secretly delighted.

The annoyance he had felt from being disturbed by this bastard Obito had diminished a little.

Heavy rain began falling from the sky.

Pouring raindrops landed on Obito, soaking his hair and unsettling his heart.

”Eh? You’re... Tobi, right? If you don’t hurry, you’ll fall behind,” a gentle voice said.

Obito turned his head and saw Deidara looking at him strangely.

”Tobi, what’s wrong?” Konan asked, somewhat worried.

Nagato glanced at Kenichi.

He looked concerned on the surface, but Nagato knew that Kenichi must have done something to make Tobi so distraught.

Nagato looked at the faint smile on Kenichi’s lips and could not help shaking his head.

This guy truly had a twisted sense of humor.

But resurrection?

Nagato thought of the Rinnegan’s ocular technique.

What he had not expected was that Kenichi, that bastard, also possessed a similar resurrection Ninjutsu.

This was truly extraordinary.

However, that was also good.

The stronger Kenichi’s power became, the higher the possibility of achieving that dream.

Uchiha Obito stumbled back a few steps.

He looked blankly at Kenichi and Konan, who had come over to ask what was wrong.

He could only see their mouths moving, but he could not hear anything.

A sharp ringing filled his ears, leaving him bewildered and helpless.

But Kenichi could almost guess what Obito was feeling.

Is this all it takes to break you, Obito?

What will you do when you meet Rin Nohara, yet cannot express your love or reveal your true identity?

How much pain will you feel when you discover Rin Nohara’s feelings for me?

Thinking of Obito’s pained and struggling expression, Kenichi felt utterly refreshed.
