Chapter 426: Killing the Heart Is So Interesting!

Amamiya Kenichi looked at the girl in front of him, sitting quietly off to the side as he observed her.

Rin Nohara had not woken up yet.

Although Kenichi had already resurrected her through One’s Own Life Reincarnation by using a chunin’s soul, Rin still showed no sign of awakening. If the technique had not succeeded, and if Rin’s heartbeat had not returned to normal, Kenichi might even have suspected that he had revived the wrong person.

”She looks like a gentle, refined young lady. It seems my dear Brother Obito likes the girl-next-door type,” Kenichi muttered as he looked at Rin.

Her breathing was steady, but what caught his attention most were the two small horizontal marks on her cheeks.

At first glance, Kenichi had thought Rin had drawn them on herself. However, after examining her cheek, he discovered that those markings seemed to be naturally part of her face. That reminded him of Naruto, who had whisker-like marks on his own cheeks.

Still, it had to be said that the real Rin was indeed quite pretty. She possessed a quiet charm. While she was not an unparalleled beauty, she was pleasant to look at, the kind of girl who would have received many love letters from boys during her Academy days.

However, in Kenichi’s eyes, Rin’s greatest value was not her appearance.

For him, it did not matter what Rin looked like. Even if she were an unparalleled beauty, her greatest use would still be helping him complete his psychological attack on Obito.

”Brother Amamiya.”

A timid voice came from outside the laboratory.

Kenichi paused for a moment, then immediately stood up, pushed open the laboratory door, and walked out.

Standing outside was Uchiha Hikari.

”Brother Amamiya, have you eaten yet?” Hikari looked at him with a smile. Her hands were clasped behind her back as she leaned forward slightly.

The moment Kenichi saw her like that, he knew she must have brought him food.

”Not yet. Hikari, have you eaten?” Kenichi gently ruffled Hikari’s hair.

This little girl really did have a good personality.

”Hehe, I’ve eaten! Brother Amamiya, this is for you.” Hikari happily took out a bento box.

Kenichi paused, then casually accepted it.

The warmth from the bento box passed through the metal casing and into his hand.

”You can do it, Brother Amamiya! But please don’t overwork yourself!” Hikari waved her small fists, cheering him on.

Then she happily ran off.

Hikari knew that her brother had been very busy lately. She wanted to help, but she did not know what she could do.

She wanted to go to the battlefield, but Kenichi disagreed. Because of that, Hikari could only think of other ways to support him.

Kenichi watched Hikari’s retreating figure and smiled as he shook his head.

Then he opened the bento box in his hand and took a look.

Inside was a very home-style meal. There was tamagoyaki, a few side dishes, rice as the main portion, and a grilled fish placed on top.

Well, it could only be described as a very traditional-style bento.

Although it was not exactly to Kenichi’s taste, he was not a picky eater. After all, it was Hikari’s thoughtful gesture. So Kenichi still took the bento box back into the laboratory and ate while continuing to observe Rin’s physical condition.

Just as Kenichi put the grilled fish into his mouth, he noticed a prompt appear on a nearby instrument.

He leaned over and glanced at it.

It was an electroencephalogram monitor, and the display showed that Rin’s brainwaves had begun to fluctuate.

”According to previous experimental records, once the brainwaves react, it means Rin should be waking up around now,” Kenichi said while chewing the grilled fish in his mouth.

Only then did he realize that the grilled fish Hikari had made had no bones.

He wondered how she had managed that.

After a little while longer, Kenichi finished the bento Hikari had made. Rin finally reacted as well.

The girl whose existence had caused countless deaths in the ninja world slowly opened her eyes.

”This... this is...” Rin looked bewildered.

She remembered that she had already died.

She remembered returning to the Pure Land, waiting there day after day.

Waiting...

Ah.

Obito and Kakashi.

”No, didn’t I die?” Rin suddenly sat up.

The pain she had felt while still alive instantly returned to her memory.

She had died.

In order to prevent the Three-Tails from threatening the village, she had rushed toward Kakashi without hesitation and died by his hand.

So why was she alive again now?

Rin’s gaze immediately locked onto Kenichi.

This strange room contained only this man.

He was very handsome, and his eyes were strange. That instinctively made Rin want to reach for her weapon.

But she quickly realized that she was wearing only a loose patient garment, and her ninja tool pouch was nowhere to be found.

”!”

Rin’s pupils contracted.

She immediately tried to use Ninjutsu, but before she could even form hand seals, Kenichi caught her wrist.

”Rin Nohara, don’t be so nervous,” Kenichi said gently.

Rin’s reaction was extremely intense. She tried her hardest to break free from his grip, but it was useless.

Kenichi rolled his eyes, then casually tossed a set of clothes to her.

There was also a Konoha forehead protector with them.

The sight of that forehead protector made Rin freeze for a moment.

”Let me introduce myself. I am a ninja of Konoha, and my teacher is Orochimaru,” Kenichi continued gently, using what he believed to be his most charming tone.

Kenichi could certainly force Obito to watch the girl he cared about being used as a pawn in front of him, but he felt that doing so would only enrage Obito.

It would not truly crush his heart.

Or rather, the effect would not be good enough.

But if he made Rin trust him, rely on him, and eventually stand on his side of her own will, then had her show that trust in front of Obito, or even declare that she believed in Kenichi...

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

By then, the one shouting, ”My pain is greater than yours,” probably would not be Nagato.

It would be Obito.

”You... you’re a ninja from the village?” Rin looked at Kenichi, doubt still lingering in her eyes.

”Kakashi is my good friend.”

Kenichi took out a photo and handed it to Rin.

Rin’s pupils contracted.

She saw Kakashi’s face.

Although he was wearing a strange mask and had grown older, she recognized him.

This person was Kakashi.

And beside Kakashi stood someone smiling brightly.

That person was the man right in front of her.

In an instant, much of Rin’s doubt faded.

The fact that he was Kakashi’s good friend even made Rin feel a faint sense of closeness toward Kenichi.

But then she remembered her current state and hurriedly began putting on the clothes.

While she dressed, Rin glanced shyly at Kenichi.

This person...

But then she saw that Kenichi had already turned his back to her. Rin sighed in relief, and the nervousness and embarrassment in her heart eased slightly.

”Um... I’m Rin Nohara. May I ask who you are?” Rin’s voice still carried a trace of embarrassment.

She tightened her clothes around herself.

The clothes fit surprisingly well.

”Ah, my name is Amamiya Kenichi.”

Kenichi turned around and looked at Rin, who had now finished dressing.

His heart remained completely calm.

After all, he understood her condition very clearly, perhaps even more clearly than Obito did.

However, now that he thought about it...

Kenichi’s eyes lit up.

He had an interesting idea.

”Amamiya Kenichi...” Rin murmured the name, then gave him a grateful smile. ”Thank you, Mr. Amamiya. But why have I been resurrected?”

Immediately afterward, confusion appeared in her eyes.

After all, resurrection was no simple matter.

She even remembered seeing something before. Then she had suddenly fainted, and when she woke up again, she was here.

”Because I’m conducting an experiment to develop a resurrection Ninjutsu, and you happened to become the test subject.”

Kenichi did not answer immediately.

He only looked at Rin with a complicated gaze. After a moment, he spoke with a cold expression.

Rin stared blankly at him.

Was that so?

She was merely the test subject of a resurrection Ninjutsu?

But why had he looked at her with such a complicated gaze just now?

Rin was somewhat lost.

Soon after, Kenichi sent her out.

Kenichi still had experiments to conduct, so Rin could only walk outside in a daze. She did not know what she should do.

The security in this place was very strict.

Many Uchiha clan ninja were responsible for protecting it. When they saw Rin, all of them showed expressions of shock and surprise. However, they would not allow her to leave.

Rin became even more bewildered.

Then she met a girl.

The girl was very enthusiastic and introduced Rin to their current location.

This was a secret laboratory outside the Land of Fire, one with an extremely high level of secrecy and security. Ordinary people could not freely enter or leave, so Rin could only live here temporarily.

”Who exactly is this Amamiya Kenichi?”

Strong curiosity surged within Rin’s heart.

She felt that Kenichi was full of stories.

This strange man seemed to be hiding secrets buried very deep.

”How is it? Have the arrangements been made?”

Kenichi sat in his laboratory, cleaning the entire room.

The research he was about to conduct next was somewhat dangerous.

”Lord Amamiya, everything has already been arranged,” Uchiha Shiori said respectfully.

Kenichi nodded.

It was good that the arrangements had been made.

Kenichi was not very good at gaining a girl’s affection, and he did not know how to make Rin develop trust in him quickly. But in order to strike at Obito, he still tried hard to come up with a plan.

In the end, Kenichi decided to put on a play.

A grand drama.

The entire Land of Water would become the stage, and every controlled ninja would become the finest actor.

The goal was to make Rin lower her guard as quickly as possible, trust him, rely on him, and eventually see him as someone worth standing beside.

Shiori glanced at Kenichi.

She could not quite understand Lord Amamiya’s intentions.

After all, the arrangements this time were far too strange.

First, Lord Amamiya had used Shadow Clones to write many diaries and similar materials, then placed them somewhere that appeared deeply hidden but was actually easy to discover by accident.

After that, he made his subordinates memorize a series of deeply emotional stories that gave Shiori goosebumps just from listening to them.

The scale was even quite large.

The people in the capital were quickly preparing everything, all to satisfy Lord Amamiya’s demands.

And all of this was only for that girl?

Was it worth it?

Or did Lord Amamiya truly care about her that much?

Shiori was somewhat confused.

If Kenichi could hear Shiori’s thoughts, he would tell her that it was worth it.

Very worth it.

Although it was troublesome, it was also extremely entertaining.

Just imagining Rin standing on his side, speaking for him in front of Obito while Obito hid in some dark corner, twisting in pain and crawling through despair, made Kenichi tremble with excitement.

That damn Uchiha Obito.

That bastard had caused him trouble again and again.

Kenichi had tolerated him for a long time.

Now that he finally had a suitable method of revenge, Kenichi wished he could fast-forward directly to the moment he brought Rin before Obito and showed him a scene that would completely shatter his mind.

By then, Obito would probably suffer a full mental collapse, right?

”You may leave, then. Remember to carry out this plan completely,” Kenichi said with a wave of his hand.

He was not particularly concerned about whether the plan would succeed.

With so many people acting alongside Rin, it would naturally be best if Rin fell into the role he had prepared for her. But if she did not, that did not matter either.

He had plenty of ways to drive Obito mad.

Completely mad.

”Yes, Lord.”

Shiori respectfully departed.

Although she was deeply confused, because of the parasites and her own principles of conduct, Shiori would perfectly execute Kenichi’s plan.

After Shiori left, Kenichi began making modifications.

He quickly transformed his temporary laboratory into a sterile laboratory.

He planned to conduct research here.

Research into that peculiar Nano Disease.

However, considering the special nature of this disease, Kenichi still decided to have Shadow Clones conduct the research, while his real body would only be responsible for receiving memories and reading logs.

”But I always feel that this doesn’t seem like a virus. If it were a virus, then traces of it should be found in the body’s tissues,” Kenichi said as he took out a scroll.

At the same time, he recalled the contents of his previous memories.

The mortality rate of this disease was extremely high.

But strangely, no virus could be found inside the patients’ bodies.

Either the virus was hiding somewhere else, or it was not a virus at all, but something entirely different.

Kenichi shook his head.

Forget it.

It did not matter.

No matter what caused this disease, he would find the source.

After that, perhaps he could begin the weapon development process.

Although it was somewhat inhumane, war itself had always been like that.
