Chapter 422: The Mystery of the Ninja World: Why Obito Didn’t Revive Rin Nohara

In the end, Amamiya Kenichi brought Sasori and Deidara with him.

The only troublesome part was taking Sasori to the Land of Water. The Unit-01 he had created was simply too large, making it difficult to transport through ordinary means.

Fortunately, Sasori had his own methods. Kenichi had no idea how he did it, but somehow, Sasori put Unit-01 away. After that, he boarded the airship with Kenichi.

”Are we leaving now?” Sasori looked down at the experimental base below as it gradually shrank into the distance. A faint trace of emotion appeared in his eyes.

That place held too many of his memories. He had not expected that the time to leave would come so suddenly.

”Yes. I originally had a few things I wanted to investigate, but now there is something more important.” Kenichi glanced at the scroll in his hand.

Inside the scroll was a portion of Rin Nohara’s remains, which he had dug up during the grave robbery.

With this, he could use Edo Tensei on Rin. After that, he only needed a parasite-controlled genin to use One’ Own Life Reincarnation on Rin’s Edo Tensei body. In doing so, he would hold Obito’s greatest weakness in the palm of his hand.

”But what exactly is Obito thinking?” Kenichi shook his head, still unable to fully understand him. ”There are so many ways to create a world with Rin in it. Wouldn’t the Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique or One’ Own Life Reincarnation both work? Yet he had to choose Infinite Tsukuyomi.”

If one said Obito was deeply devoted, then he truly was devoted to Rin. He had practically earned the title of the number one devoted man in the ninja world.

But even though there were methods in the ninja world to bring the dead back to life, Obito simply refused to use them. Instead, he stubbornly pursued Infinite Tsukuyomi, even planning to send his close friend Kakashi into that dream world as well.

And he had been working hard toward that goal all this time.

After thinking it over, Kenichi felt that perhaps Obito blamed Rin’s death on this twisted ninja world itself.

After all, in the ninja world, shinobi were a kind of expendable resource. As long as one was a shinobi, one had to accept missions. Konoha lost shinobi every year.

Many died during wartime, but even after the war ended, shinobi still died on missions.

Perhaps Obito believed that even if Rin were revived, she would still face this infuriating ninja world. One day, she might die again. That was why he chose not to revive her and instead turned to Infinite Tsukuyomi, hoping to create a world where everyone could live happily.

However, the greatest flaw of Infinite Tsukuyomi was that its beauty was false and temporary.

When the time came, the people trapped inside it would die, transforming into White Zetsu and becoming war machines for Ōtsutsuki Kaguya to use against the Ōtsutsuki clan.

If not for the side effect of producing White Zetsu, Uchiha Madara’s starting point and position might have seemed far more noble.

”You know about the attack launched against you by the Four Great Ninja Villages, don’t you?” Sasori asked, looking at Kenichi.

During a previous mission with Deidara, he had seen a bounty jointly issued by the four great daimyo, targeting the Land of Water and Kirigakure.

Anyone who brought back the heads of the shinobi occupying Kirigakure and the Land of Water would receive a reward.

Recently, that had become the most popular mission at the bounty station. It had far surpassed the previous bounty on Uchiha Madara issued by that mysterious person.

”That’s right, Senior Amamiya,” Deidara added. ”Many shinobi at the bounty station accepted those missions and planned to go to the Land of Water to capture some shinobi for the reward, hm.”

Deidara knew about this as well.

He had even considered going to the Land of Water to make some money. At the time, it had sounded like an easy way to earn a fortune.

Who would have thought that Kirigakure and the Land of Water had been occupied by the senior he admired?

Deidara was very glad he had not actually gone. Otherwise, he would not know how to face Kenichi now.

”I know. But I drove them all away. As for what they plan to do to me next, I don’t know.” Kenichi nodded calmly.

How could he not know?

If not for the alliance of the Four Great Ninja Villages, Kenichi might still be conducting production work in the Land of Water.

”As for those bounty shinobi, unless Kakuzu personally takes action, I’m really not worried about ordinary shinobi,” Kenichi said calmly.

Although he was not currently in the Land of Water, his teacher was still there.

However, the moment he thought about facing his teacher after returning, Kenichi nervously rubbed his nose.

He did not know whether news of his attack on the Four Great Ninja Allied Forces had already spread. But Hiruzen Sarutobi’s death was probably impossible to hide, since shinobi from the other two villages had been present as well.

He only wondered what his teacher would think after learning that he had killed Hiruzen.

With that uneasy feeling in his chest, Kenichi accelerated the airship toward the Land of Water. Along the way, he even had time to capture a few Konoha shinobi from an airship that intercepted him.

Weren’t these ready-made bodies for Edo Tensei?

A benevolent smile appeared on Kenichi’s face.

Damn Obito.

Although Kenichi did not know why Obito had never used Edo Tensei on Rin, nor why he had never thought about reviving Rin now, the situation clearly benefited him.

So, while the airship was still flying, Kenichi used a captured Konoha chunin as the sacrifice. Then he took out part of Rin’s remains and placed them nearby.

Edo Tensei!

A moment later, the sacrifice slowly transformed into Rin’s appearance.

Then she slowly opened her eyes.

”Wh-where is this?” Rin opened her eyes in confusion.

Before she could see her surroundings clearly, Kenichi drove a kunai into the back of her head.

Rin immediately went still.

”Is this Edo Tensei?” Sasori and Deidara stood nearby, witnessing the entire process.

Deidara was merely surprised, but Sasori’s heart stirred slightly.

”Yes. Edo Tensei. As long as you have the remains of the deceased, you can bring the dead back to the world.” Kenichi glanced at Sasori.

Suddenly, he thought of something.

He remembered some of Sasori’s past. For example, Sasori had once made a pair of puppets named Father and Mother, which proved that, deep in his heart, he still felt some longing for his parents.

”Sasori, do you want to...” Kenichi looked at him and asked in a low voice.

He knew some of Sasori’s story. After all, Sasori could be considered his friend. If Sasori wanted it, Kenichi could arrange for his parents to be revived. It would not be a difficult matter.

”I’ll pass. This form of revival isn’t permanent, is it?” Sasori looked at Rin, whose face still carried the cracks of Edo Tensei.

This girl looked very similar to the puppet he had made.

But when Rin had opened her eyes earlier, Sasori realized that his own work seemed to be missing something.

”Indeed, Edo Tensei alone can only last for a year at most. But when combined with One’ Own Life Reincarnation, it can achieve perfect resurrection,” Kenichi said with a nod.

Sasori was quite powerful, so he could naturally see the drawbacks of Edo Tensei.

However, those drawbacks already belonged to the past.

Now, Edo Tensei combined with One’ Own Life Reincarnation could achieve perfect resurrection. Of course, that also had something to do with the age of the revived person at the time of death.

Lifespan remained an unconquered problem even now.

Using Edo Tensei and One’ Own Life Reincarnation together could only return the dead to their state before death. It could not revive them in their childhood or restore them to a younger appearance.

Otherwise, if he went around digging up the graves of old deceased powerhouses, wouldn’t he be able to create a shinobi army in minutes?

”Perfect resurrection?” Sasori suddenly looked up, his eyes shining as he stared at Kenichi.

Deidara, standing beside him, also gasped in surprise.

This was resurrection.

”Yes. Sasori, you are my close friend. Helping you is no big deal. Do you have your parents’ remains?” Kenichi nodded.

One’ Own Life Reincarnation was very powerful. Its only drawback was that the user had to sacrifice himself. But for Kenichi, that was not much of a problem.

Under the control of his parasites, the greatest weakness of One’ Own Life Reincarnation had already been overcome.

Kenichi was no longer worried about the deaths of his important subordinates. If they died, then they died. He could simply revive them.

However, that did not mean Kenichi intended to send his subordinates to their deaths.

Sending them to die was impossible. Absolutely impossible.

One’ Own Life Reincarnation could revive the dead, but in the end, it was still a one-for-one exchange. If a jonin died, then another jonin had to be sacrificed.

That was far too uneconomical.

”My... my parents’ remains are buried in the village. I would need to make a trip.” Sasori endured for a while, but in the end, he could not suppress the thought.

He had longed for his parents’ love since childhood. Otherwise, he would never have made the two puppets, Father and Mother.

Those two puppets had always been Sasori’s most cherished possessions.

”Resurrection itself is not a problem. But Sasori, if your parents are revived and learn what you have done, can you guarantee they won’t be angry?” Kenichi did not immediately change course.

The airship was already flying over the sea, and the remaining two Konoha shinobi had been restrained.

Kenichi did not mind reviving Sasori’s parents, but he had just thought of a problem.

Reviving them was easy. But what about after they came back?

There would still be many problems.

After all, Sasori had defected from his village. He had even killed the village’s Kazekage and turned him into a puppet.

In a sense, Sasori’s actions could be said to have completely severed his path back to Sunagakure. That was probably also why Chiyo cared so much about Sasori but had never been able to bring him back.

She knew Sasori would not return.

And she also knew he could not return.

Sasori fell silent.

He had been swept up by the joy of knowing his parents could potentially be revived. But now that he thought about it carefully, Kenichi was right.

Even if he revived his parents, could they accept the person he had become?

Sasori’s parents had died when he was young. But as he grew up, he had heard from Granny Chiyo that his parents died for the village.

That meant his parents must have been loyal to Sunagakure.

Yet he had betrayed that same village.

Perhaps he could hide it at first. But what about later?

Could he truly endure his parents’ hostility in the future?

Sasori stopped speaking. Kenichi also did not change direction, continuing to fly toward the Land of Water.

Deidara sensed the heavy silence in the air and quietly shut his mouth as well. Senior Amamiya was someone he respected, and Sasori was also his friend and senior. In a situation like this, Deidara did not know what he should say.

However, speaking of resurrection, Deidara felt that he did not have anyone in particular he wanted to revive.

That was good.

At least he did not have to be as conflicted as Brother Sasori.

Kenichi glanced at Rin, who was sitting motionless.

Speaking of which, how many years older was Obito than Rin now?

But with Obito’s current ghost-like appearance, it was truly hard to tell.

At that moment, Kenichi felt his pants pocket vibrate.

He swallowed, then took out his phone.

It was his teacher calling.

Only a red light was flashing, and only his teacher had his phone number. That meant the one contacting him could only be his teacher.

”Kenichi, I found something very interesting! Hurry to the experimental base on Seabreeze Island in the Land of Water!” His teacher’s excited voice came through the phone.

Kenichi breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed his teacher still did not know that Hiruzen was already dead.

”Understood, Teacher. I’ll be there soon.”

As soon as Kenichi finished speaking, his teacher hung up.

That made Kenichi a little curious.

What had his teacher researched that made him so excited?

He would know once he went to see it.

”...That bastard Heavenly Demon!”

Tsunade angrily smashed a table.

The Anbu beside her silently lowered his head.

Here we go again.

Ever since Lady Tsunade became Hokage, he had no idea how many tables she had smashed. He had only heard from a colleague in the finance department that, during this period, the finance department had learned from Kumogakure’s advanced experience and specifically established a Table Damage Compensation Special Fund.

After that, they even formed a cooperative relationship with a furniture workshop in Konoha.

”Shizune, tell me. What exactly did that guy do?” Tsunade looked angrily at the subordinate in front of her.

Shizune lowered her head, her eyes red.

She had only been discovered when Tsunade brought the injured back to Konoha Hospital for treatment and recovery.

”I... I don’t know, Lady Tsunade,” Shizune said in a strained voice. ”But afterward, I checked everything in the hospital and found that some disease research data was missing from the archives. Then Hyuga Hanabi and two genin disappeared...”

Shizune lowered her head even further.

She did not even know when she had been controlled. Her memory stopped at a pair of red eyes. After that, the next thing she remembered was Tsunade urgently waking her up.

”Hyuga Hanabi? You mean the patient with Nano Disease?” Tsunade narrowed her eyes.

Although she was the Hokage, she was also a medical ninja, and she was very familiar with several diseases recorded in Konoha.

Especially Hyuga Hanabi, who was a genius ninja of the Hyuga clan. The Hyuga clan head had even invited Tsunade to examine her before.

But those infected with Nano Disease were basically beyond saving. The fact that Hanabi was still alive was due to her special constitution.

”Nano Disease... What does Heavenly Demon want to do?”

A bad feeling rose in Tsunade’s heart.

That Heavenly Demon was not planning to develop something strange again, was he?
