Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 1035: Chapter 430: Hunter

Xu Dejun instructed others to take the three players for rescue, and only after their conditions gradually stabilized did he ask:

”Who are they?”

Wu Chang responded, ”They’re guys wandering the wilderness. They are intercepting all players ascending from the Desolate Realm to the Realm of Reason, especially that one in full plate armor, who is from the Bliss Sect.”

”I found them suspicious, so I casually captured them to see if you could pry anything out of them.”

Xu Dejun looked at the three being treated, momentarily speechless. The ease with which Wu Chang described capturing them was as if he was buying three rolls of toilet paper from a supermarket. But judging by the state of the three, as Wu Chang said, a delay in treatment would have led to a collapse of their Will.

Although Wu Chang had previously dealt with players from the Realm of Reason in front of him, even having defeated Hercules head-on, witnessing this scene, Xu Dejun still couldn’t believe Wu Chang was merely a player from the Desolate Realm.

Xu Dejun shook his head, suppressing the absurdity in his mind, and said:

”I do know something about their actions.”

”Shortly after you left last time, the Bright Society and Evolution Sect received some information and began intensifying their patrols of the wilderness. At first, we thought they were searching for us, but later discovered they were intercepting newcomers ascending from the Desolate Realm.”

”We tried rescuing a few, but found nothing unusual. The exact reason is still unknown.”

After the qualification dungeon ended, many players who failed to obtain a World Dungeon qualification chose to complete the ascension dungeon during this time.

One reason being that after the World Dungeon, changes in the Desolate Realm might be unfavorable for entering the Realm of Reason. The other being that challenging dungeons had either been strategized or gone out of control, making it highly probable to take advantage now by starting the ascension dungeon.

With these two major factors, a small wave of ascensions formed on the eve of the World Dungeon’s initiation.

After hearing Xu Dejun’s description and combining it with the timing of the Bright Society’s actions, Wu Chang easily understood what the Bright Society aimed to achieve.

It seems the infiltration by the Bright Society, or rather the Evolution Sect, into the Four Major Organizations of the Desolate Realm, is more severe than imagined. Even though Hou Jingchuan promised with certainty that everyone aware of the Faith Virus was one of us, someone still leaked the intelligence.

He took out a metal box containing the Faith Virus, handed it to Xu Dejun, and revealed the recent changes in the Desolate Realm and Hou Jingchuan’s plan regarding the Faith Virus.

Xu Dejun opened the metal box, saw the Faith Virus inside, and understood the Bright Society’s intentions.

He closed the box, looked at the three players being rescued in the distance, his expression particularly complex.

The Bright Society often clashes with Peace, well aware of Peace’s strength.

Even White Wolf with integrated Hati Divinity was taken down by Peace in the Desolate Realm. Unless the Bright Society is foolish, they wouldn’t expect the small fries spread across the wilderness to stop or capture Peace.

Clearly, these small fries are tools to detect whether Peace has arrived in the Realm of Reason.

Now that they’ve been caught by Peace, it signifies Peace has indeed arrived in the Realm of Reason.

Seeing Xu Dejun’s expression, Wu Chang knew what the other was thinking and reassured:

”Don’t worry too much. Even if the three don’t disappear and everything seems normal, the Bright Society wouldn’t dare gamble on my absence. Nearing the World Dungeon, they would strengthen their defenses regardless.”

Xu Dejun listened, a bitter smile appearing, acknowledging that Wu Chang was right. For a plan of this scale, the Bright Society would never relax vigilance before the World Dungeon commenced.

Whether they discovered Wu Chang or not, they would maintain the highest level of alert.

Xu Dejun hesitated for a moment, handed back the metal box to Wu Chang, and said:

”The Faith Virus is indeed a good countermeasure against the Bright Society, but I need to inform the other members of the Order Sect and discuss a feasible plan.”

Wu Chang said: ”Do it quickly, preferably before the World Dungeon starts, to have the Faith Virus in place.”

Xu Dejun, with seniority in the Management Bureau, would be respected by Hou Jingchuan in the Desolate Realm. But in the Realm of Reason, without a matching stature or force, his words carried less weight.

Regarding deploying the Faith Virus, he could only inform the actual high-ups of the Order Sect in the Realm of Reason, leaving the decision to their discretion, at most listening in. He couldn’t make any final decision, nor were his suggestions guaranteed to be considered.

In the eyes of the Reason Realm Administration Bureau’s upper echelon, though currently seen as an insider, his words were perhaps less effective than those of Peace, an outsider.

Wu Chang did not participate in this meeting. He wasn’t well-acquainted with the Management Bureau’s members and didn’t plan to get too involved.

In his view, regarding the World Dungeon, players from the Realm of Reason and those from the Desolate Realm were naturally positioned against each other.

For those like Xu Dejun, who acknowledged their limited Talent and difficulty in progressing further within the Order Sect, they might still act from the perspective of ordinary people and reality.

But for those truly capable and ambitious at the top, would they truly be willing to prevent the Bright Society just to maintain the order between the Desolate Realm and reality?

The conflicts between them and the Bright Society, as well as with the Evolution Sect, were merely clashes of power and ideology. But contradictions between the Realm of Reason and the Desolate Realm related to survival.

The situation of the Crimson Courtyard in the Realm of Reason is self-explanatory at a glance.

The controlled zones constantly eroded by the Abyss, the shrinking safe areas, and the rising prices to stay within safety already made survival difficult for many Realm of Reason players.
