Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 1012: Chapter 422: The Majesty of God (Part 2)

Wu Chang had been waiting for this opening.

He performed another short-range teleport. This time, he appeared above Hel’s head, and in his hand there was a huge Warhammer—the Light of Steadfastness that Erin had swapped out.

Immediately after, he swung the Light of Steadfastness and unleashed Determined Charge on the spot.

The effect of Master Level cold weapon proficiency let him surpass Hel in weapon handling; the Warhammer’s head smashed precisely onto the guard of the longsword in Hel’s right hand as she tried to block.

As he knocked aside the right-hand sword with brute force, the stun attached to Determined Charge made Hel’s body seize up for a split second, and the power in her left-hand sword defense dissipated.

The Light of Steadfastness was only a B-Level Item; against someone of Hel’s Level, the impact was extremely limited—it could only stun her for a brief instant.

But for Wu Chang, that instant was already enough.

”Mamba!”

Riding the remaining momentum from Determined Charge, he rotated along the opening created by the Warhammer and slammed his elbow, his left elbow striking hard into Hel.

The effect of the Mamba Iron Elbow was far beyond what the Light of Steadfastness could compare to. Hel’s upper body was knocked backward, staggering in short retreat, her twin swords hanging weakly at her sides, temporarily losing the ability to counterattack.

If this were a typical online game perspective, then under Hel’s HP bar, at the very least a whole line of abnormal Status would be flashing.

All kinds of abnormal Status made Hel’s already unstable condition even worse. Linked with Chaos Authority, it directly caused a layer of purple light film to surface over Hel’s body.

This was the manifestation of Chaos Authority beginning to affect its target.

At the same time, a line of notification flashed before Wu Chang’s eyes.

「Chaos Authority activated, Life +20, Energy +30.」

「Talent Name: Chaos Authority」

「Talent Description: You can convert Energy into tangible chaos and spread it outward. All targets affected by your Authority will be marked by you. Marked targets, according to the degree of chaos, will have part of their Main Attribute extracted by you. When Chaos Value exceeds a certain threshold, you can completely control or erase the marked target.」

Chaos Authority’s initial breach of Hel’s defenses let Wu Chang successfully extract Attribute Value from Hel.

Judging from the extraction result, Hel was a God whose specialties were the dual Attributes of Life and Energy.

Since he had already touched the first Desolate Realm barrier, half of the 30 points of Energy gained had to be deducted, bringing his Energy Attribute up to 370 points.

Taking advantage of the Mamba Iron Elbow’s effect and Chaos Authority breaking through the defense, he flashed to Hel’s front and launched another elbow strike.

”Mamba!”

After the second elbow, the third followed immediately. Three consecutive elbows landed, and relying on Blasphemer he inflicted considerable damage on Hel, while also stacking three layers of Mamba Mark, gaining an extra 30% damage reduction.

Just as he was getting into the rhythm of elbow strikes, wondering if he could infinitely chain-control and lock Hel down in one combo, a chill surged up from the back of his neck, stabbing straight into his marrow. His body froze mid-motion, and he did not teleport up to land the fourth elbow.

It was his Inspiration issuing a warning, telling him to beware of a threat.

He snapped to awareness and immediately tried to teleport away from Hel.

But before he could use Space threads to teleport out, he saw a streak of gray light flash by, and the threads that made up the Spatial Domain were severed one by one.

He looked toward where the gray light originated, and saw Hel forcibly break free from the control of the Mamba Iron Elbow and regain movement.

Masses of gray-white Divine Power, mixed with countless wronged souls, swirled around her, forming a small region similar to a Divine Kingdom. It was precisely this region that shredded the Spatial Domain and prevented Wu Chang’s teleportation.

Before Divinity, even Lord Level Power of Root couldn’t withstand it.

Not good, the BOSS just went into phase two!

Wu Chang’s heart tightened. Hel was clearly about to unleash a big move; there was no need to go in hard at this moment. He had to kite her, let her burst run its course, read her moves clearly, then counter.

He activated the White Ghost’s swift Skills, boosting his movement speed by 20%, and then used the Lightning Shadow Body Technique from the Thunder Skill Fragment, pulling distance from Hel.

The Lightning Shadow Body Technique allowed him to accelerate while using Energy to create Clones of indistinguishable authenticity, confusing the enemy about his position.

Against opponents of similar skill level, this move was extremely practical whether for offense or escape. Used well, it could even pull off a ”first-seen kill” effect. Unfortunately, after Wu Chang mastered this technique, he never got the chance to encounter an equal-level opponent, so the move had rarely been used.

Now was the perfect time to use it.

He had trained the Thunder Skill Fragment up to A-Level, and backed by 370 points of Energy, he could now split off eight thunder shadows in one go.

Including his true body, nine figures darted off in different directions, trying to make Hel chase after false bodies.

But with her Divine Kingdom unfolded and Divine Power bursting, Hel did not chase Wu Chang physically as before. Instead, she raised the longsword in her left hand.

Under Wu Chang’s puzzled gaze, the longsword elongated and reshaped, turning into a huge rake.

Seeing the rake raised high in Hel’s hand, Wu Chang’s first reaction was: why are you stealing Second Senior Brother’s weapon.

Only on the next beat did he remember that when the All-Knowing Crystal revealed Hel’s identity, it had also told him a few myths about Hel.

One of those myths mentioned that Hel would ride a three-legged Bai Ma into the mortal world, spreading Death.

She carried a rake and a broom with her. In any region she passed through, if half the people died, it meant she was using the rake to harvest Life; if everyone died, then she was using the broom.

It matched. The instant he saw the rake, Wu Chang understood how the neat wounds he’d seen outside the secret research facility had been created.
