Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 1031: Chapter 428: Holy Land Baptism (Part 3)

The Extraordinary Steam Engine has gradually been used in various industries, but the problem of pollution is still difficult to solve and can only be temporarily ignored.

The two of them traveled by carriage, with Wu Chang showing He Yun the customs and culture of Grimland as they made their way to Saint George’s Cathedral.

Before entering the Dungeon Plane, Wu Chang had already confirmed the time with Julie through the Pillar of the Divine Kingdom, so they didn’t have to wait and directly met Olivia and Julie in the basement of Saint George’s Cathedral.

During the Steam Phantom Dungeon, when Wu Chang saw Olivia, he felt that she was unusually noble and elegant, exuding an extraordinary aura from her very bones.

At the time, he thought this demeanor came from Olivia’s royal etiquette training since childhood, but upon meeting her again, with the ability to grasp destiny, Wu Chang discovered that Olivia’s demeanor was actually due to her destiny.

Around her, brilliant colored steam swirled, not dazzling, yet incredibly striking.

From Wu Chang’s perspective, Olivia’s aura of destiny was enough to illuminate the entire basement.

This was the destiny representing the Plane Son.

Wu Chang looked at himself. Although he had accomplished many significant deeds in the Steam Phantom Plane, changing its course multiple times, he did not possess ”Fortune Raider” at the time and thus did not absorb any destiny from it.

At this moment, he only had a permanent 25 points of destiny. Compared to Olivia, the difference was vast—not quite the brilliance of the moon compared to a firefly, but the scale was roughly tenfold.

In other words, to become a Plane Son, one needed at least 200 points of destiny.

While Wu Chang observed Olivia, Olivia was also observing He Yun.

It was not her first time seeing a mechanical lifeform, but the mechanical doll created by He Yun had a mechanical aesthetic far surpassing that of the Steam Phantom Plane. One could tell just from its appearance that the technology level far exceeded that of the Extraordinary Steam Engine.

Moreover, she saw a shadow of the Peace Envoy from He Yun’s mechanical doll.

Olivia asked, ”Who is this?”

Olivia knew a lot of inside information, so Wu Chang directly said:

”This is He Yun. From this mechanical doll, you can see that the Peace Envoy I previously piloted was also built by her.”

Olivia gazed intently at He Yun. From He Yun, she could sense a steam rule similar to her own, which inevitably reminded her of Xavier.

”Miss He Yun, did you transform yourself into a mechanical lifeform to condense divinity as well?”

He Yun shook her head and said, ”What you see here is just a doll. It merely carries part of my consciousness and is not my true body.”

Olivia’s eyes flickered with surprise. She couldn’t completely understand what He Yun had said, but she could feel the power of such an ability.

She followed up, ”From you, I sense the Steam Root Power. Is the technology you mastered based on the development of steam engines?”

”The Steam Root Power I possess actually comes from Stilan,” He Yun explained.

Before they came, they had already anticipated Olivia’s various questions and prepared accordingly.

They hadn’t lied, just altered the story of the power obtained from the Mechanical Crown to Wu Chang having gathered extensive research on the Extraordinary Steam Engine in Xavier’s mechanical workshop, which He Yun had understood and from which she derived the Steam Root Power.

It sounded quite unbelievable, but after He Yun demonstrated her Mechanical Heart in front of Olivia, Olivia had no choice but to believe.

Even among roots, there are differences, and compared to the Mechanical Heart, the Steam Root Power seemed incredibly rudimentary, like the child laborers in the East District mines compared to the noble lords of the West District—both humans, yet worlds apart in status.

Even if He Yun claimed she had conjured the Steam Root Power out of thin air, Olivia would likely believe it.

After introducing He Yun, Wu Chang presented the purpose of He Yun’s visit.

”After reading Xavier’s research, Miss He Yun became very interested in the Differential Machine and wants to see the birthplace of the Extraordinary Industry firsthand and also participate in the creation of the Differential Machine. I wonder if Her Majesty Olivia would allow it.”

”Of course, as long as Miss He Yun is willing, she is now the chief engineer of the Differential Machine project.” Olivia immediately agreed, so fervently that she even forgot to maintain the composure of a queen.

Involving He Yun, any second of hesitation would be disrespectful to science.

After pausing for a moment, she carefully glanced at He Yun and said:

”I have one more request, if it’s possible, I would like to hire Miss He Yun as my teacher.”

With Xavier’s death, there was no one left in the Steam Phantom Dungeon to teach Olivia. Her thirst for power and knowledge made her have this thought the moment she saw He Yun.

Upon hearing Olivia’s request, He Yun showed a troubled expression.

With her consciousness spanning multiple planes, she could only divide it into three parts. One part needed to remain with the Hymn Company and the reality, and between the Underground Shelter and the Steam Phantom, she could only exist in one at a time.

The appearance of the Eternal Light Research Institute made her more inclined to stay in her own plane and not linger in the Steam Phantom Plane, but it seemed inappropriate to refuse Olivia at first meeting.

Olivia noticed He Yun’s hesitation and said:

”I understand that you have affairs in other worlds and may not have the attention to spare for teaching, but I have prepared rewards that match your knowledge.”

”There is a Holy Land in Stilan that only the King and the Kingdom’s most brave knights can enter. Sir Sean should know of it.”

Wu Chang nodded beside them, knowing the mysterious path he had entered during his duel with Xavier using the Lake Light Holy Sword was the Holy Land Olivia mentioned.

Olivia continued, ”Once inside, you will receive the blessings of the God, gaining further insight into your own power, and randomly receiving some sort of enhancement.”

”If you’re willing to teach me, I’m willing to open the Holy Land for you to enter.”

Uncertain of the Holy Land’s effects, He Yun looked at Wu Chang.

Wu Chang nodded slightly at He Yun.

The Lake Light Holy Sword, imbued with the Power of Order nurtured in the Stilan Holy Land, even provided inspiration to Erin, suggesting that the Holy Land absolutely harbors some kind of secret.

For He Yun, who only has the ability of the Mechanical Heart, a random enhancement was equivalent to a targeted upgrade, making it perfectly suitable.

Receiving a confirmed answer from Wu Chang, He Yun pointed to Wu Chang and said, ”It’s possible, but entering the Holy Land involves not just me, but us.”
