Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 1026: Chapter 427: Power of Fortune

With Hel completely dead, the Netherworld ritual was cut off by the Sword of Order, and the trouble in the Underground Shelter Plane came to an end.

Hel’s appearance added a bit of extra danger to this trip, but it was also because she showed up that the surface Purification Ceremony got pulled onto the right track ahead of schedule.

According to He Yun’s previous plan, purifying the surface via the surface Purification generator not only required consuming a vast amount of Power of Faith, but to cleanse the entire surface, they would have to gather all the Underground Survivors and spend decades to finish.

But now, thanks to the Sword of Order being repaired, not only is there still a large reserve of Power of Faith, the time needed has also been drastically shortened.

More importantly, Erin, the one who swung the Sword of Order, perfectly fits the doctrine of the Eternal Light Sect.

She really did save this dead World, and will truly lead the believers back to the surface.

They only need to spread what happened inside the secret research institute, and the Eternal Light Sect will become the common faith of all the Underground People; it might even become the only religion in the World from now on.

Not to mention ordinary believers—even He Yi’s gaze toward Erin at this moment is filled with respect.

Seeing everything wrapped up smoothly, Wu Chang planned to take a few people back to the Underground Shelter to prepare for tomorrow’s trip to the Realm of Reason.

But when he came out of the Resonance Laboratory, he saw the drone possessed by He Yun’s Will resting on the circular central console of the research department, currently trying to force her consciousness into the console’s computer.

”What are you doing?” Wu Chang asked suspiciously.

He Yun said, ”I want this building. I can tell this structure is formed from a fusion of multiple civilizations’ technology, and it’s extremely valuable.”

”I want to connect my consciousness into the servers here, but there’s a strange Power inside them, like a special firewall layer blocking my consciousness from getting in.”

Earlier Wu Chang’s attention had been entirely on the Seed of Death and Hel’s resentment, and he’d forgotten the inherent value of this secret research institute itself.

Whether in Hel’s resentment or Hercules’s resentment, he’d seen what this institute looked like when running at full capacity.

Leaving aside Bright Society’s cruel high-pressure management and the gu-like, Life-draining high-intensity training, just looking at the internal training system, it’s simply leagues better than anything the Crimson Courtyard can offer.

Put simply, this place is a multi-Domain, full-function training hall.

Training here is fine-grained: whether it’s physical fitness, combat skills, hot and cold weapon usage, Ability training, or even Divinity Awakening and comprehension, there are matching training rooms and training systems for each.

For example, the Resonance Laboratory that was used to activate the Netherworld ritual—Wu Chang will be able to use it in the future when he Awakens his true Divinity, cultivating along Bright Society’s mature scientific route for absolutely double the result with half the effort.

He Yun was right: if they can bring out the full function of the secret research institute, its value is no less than a private Plane.

It’s just that as one of Bright Society’s core creations, the secret research institute was never going to be invaded by He Yun that easily.

He remembered back at Hymn Company, he’d seen a Bright Society member whose Divinity was related to computers; the firewall blocking He Yun should be set up by that guy.

Times like this, you have to ask the almighty All-Knowing Crystal.

After waiting for a while, the All-Knowing Crystal informed Wu Chang that the reason He Yun couldn’t take over the secret research institute was that the institute was still in an ”online” state.

The secret institutes that Bright Society built in the Desolate Realm are, in essence, enormous S-Level Items. They don’t have clear ownership permissions like regular Items, but the designer of the institute’s overall system has top-level admin authority.

Wu Chang turning the Underground Shelter dungeon into a private dungeon only blocked Bright Society from entering the Plane; it didn’t cut off the connection between the Death Temple Research Institute and the other institutes.

In other words, without permission from the architect of this institute system, no one else can use the secret research institute.

If someone tries to seize it by force, it will trigger the institute’s self-destruct mode.

Unless one of two situations happens: first, you use more advanced tech or Divine Power to brute-force crack this system.

For example, if He Yun someday condenses Divinity and becomes a Lower Level God, with the Mechanical Heart she might be able to bypass the admin system.

The other option is to try cutting off the connection between the Death Temple Research Institute and the outside world, putting the Death Temple Research Institute into an offline state.

Once it’s disconnected from the outside, unable to form a whole, an isolated institute will find it hard to resist the erosion of He Yun’s Mechanical Heart.

Though He Yun’s growth pace is fast, condensing Divinity isn’t something she can do in the short term. Plan One would take too long, and Wu Chang is in no mood to wait.

As for Plan Two, it looks difficult—and in practice it’s anything but simple.

This situation is like a God projecting an avatar down onto a Plane in the Middle Layer, and Wu Chang having to go cut off the connection between the God’s true body and its projection.

Regarding Plan Two, the All-Knowing Crystal couldn’t give any reasonable, workable plan, but it did tell Wu Chang that he could try; if his Destiny is good, he might pull it off.

Wu Chang was left full of question marks. What do you mean ”if his Destiny is good” he might pull it off—can something like this be done by luck?

He felt this was unreliable and asked for confirmation: ”Specifically, how am I supposed to try?”

The All-Knowing Crystal’s reply was extremely short. ”Elbow it.”

Hiss.

Wu Chang drew in a breath, walked to the core of the circular console, and muttered inwardly. Could it be that his Mamba Iron Elbow has gotten strong enough to work on non-Life forms now?
