Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 1021: Chapter 425: Netherworld and Runaway_2

Hatred and love are the two most intense emotions of humans; powerful hatred often gives birth to even more powerful imaginary divinity.

Thus, through the transformation in the secret research facility, the divinity of the Goddess of Death within Hel continued to mature, carrying her body towards the mythical transformation of Hel, turning half of her body beautiful and alluring, while the other half remained deformed.

Seeing the time was ripe, Mercury activated the final plan.

”Netherworld.”

In the time spent nurturing Hel, he had been capturing the surface people, and now the number of surface people gathered in Collette City had exceeded one million.

The Netherworld Plan, as the name suggests, involves Mercury using Hel to transform the surface of the entire planet into a Netherworld filled with the aura of death, where no grass can grow.

As Hel devours all life on the surface, turning it into the Netherworld, the Netherworld is also helping Hel take the final step to become the true Lord of the Underworld.

Mercury openly confessed all his plans to Hel and said bluntly:

”I will use the lives of the millions of surface people outside as catalysts, through their life, to awaken the dormant billions of souls that died in mutations and have not yet dissipated on the surface.”

”When the world begins to change, everything you are familiar with, including your family and friends, will vanish.”

”If you don’t want this to happen, then try to control death, control the Netherworld. I have a premonition that your existence will become my supreme masterpiece, even surpassing Gaia, whom they hold high expectations for, to become the most powerful Main God divinity.”

After declaring the plan, Mercury placed Hel into the underground space in the center of the research institute to begin activating the Netherworld Plan.

Under the guidance of various instruments, the divinity within Hel began to run rampant, with grayish-white light spreading from her as its center, madly devouring all life.

The first to be devoured by her was the other test subjects within the Death Temple Research Institute.

Hundreds of test subjects were engulfed by her Death Divinity, stripped of their souls.

The grayish-white light continued spreading outward, leaving the secret research facility and entering Collette City.

All the surface people gathered in Collette City had signed contracts with Mercury to cooperate with his god-creation plan.

They could only watch as the Death Divinity surged toward them, unable to resist.

Where the gray light passed, flowers and plants withered, the land became dead, and any surface people who came into contact with the aura of death would, like the test subjects, have their souls extracted and fall dead on the spot.

The Netherworld Plan is a grand project, and according to Mercury’s estimation, it would need to last one or two years to completely transform the entire planet.

However, once the plan starts, as long as Hel’s divinity acts as a catalyst to invoke the accumulated Power of Death within the planet, the subsequent transformation’s completion is just a matter of time.

He doesn’t need to oversee it throughout; everything can proceed smoothly.

Mercury stayed in the secret research institute for three days, confirming that the Death Divinity covered Collette City, harvesting the souls of over a million surface people, irreversibly transforming the surface world into the Netherworld.

Then he left the secret research institute and headed to other planes.

As he left, his expression was terrible, as if he had encountered major trouble.

Although Hel was confined underground in the research facility, she was able to ”see” everything happening outside through the Death Divinity and knew what she had done.

Watching everything she was familiar with being destroyed by her own hands brought her heart to a state of numbness and despair, as though dying slowly like the planet.

Who knows how long had passed, perhaps ten days or maybe a month, when suddenly a voice awakened her.

”I have seen your research records. If given a chance for revenge, what would you be willing to sacrifice?”

Hel’s empty eyes refocused on where the voice originated, discovering that a door had appeared on the wall not far away. The voice that awakened her came from within the door.

Without hesitation, whether it was her or the souls that had been absorbed into her, she replied without hesitation when faced with this question.

”Everything.”

”I like that answer.” Accompanied by the voice, a man walked out from the door and approached Hel.

Hel did not know the suddenly appearing man, but Wu Chang was very familiar with him.

He didn’t recognize the man’s face, but the aesthetic essence of somberness and elegance in the man’s temperament, which was actually meant to conceal madness, was evident.

Just a glance reminded him of Lu Langfeng who had appeared in Wanghai City.

The man before him was wearing a different face, but he was sure it was the Painter.

The Painter greeted Hel and said:

”You don’t need to be too tense. I just like your determination; I don’t really want you to sacrifice everything for it.”

”In this world, what you need to do is simple, and that’s to eat me.”

Hel looked at the Painter in confusion, ”Eat you, why?”

The Painter pulled open his shirt, revealing a tattoo-like pattern on his chest, depicting two intertwined snakes similar to Mercury’s Snake Staff.

He didn’t hide anything and said straightforwardly:

”Because a troublesome creature marked me. It is exceedingly adept at tracking, and even if I allow the body I’m controlling to die, this mark will still attach to my other bodies.”

”With this mark, my consciousness cannot pass through the Pillar of the Present World to return to my world, so I need someone to swallow it to relocate its existence.”
