Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 1024: Chapter 426: Apocalypse Knight (2)

Seeing that the situation was irreversible, Mercury and the others could only seal off the secret research facility from the outside, preventing others from discovering anything unusual there, and planned to return later to retrieve Hel’s divinity.

As the secret research facility was sealed from the outside, Hel’s resentment came to an end.

Hel, or rather the collective resentment of all the experimental subjects who died in the secret research facility, directed towards the Illuminati. When Hel received the Painter’s help and broke free from Mercury’s contractual restraints, she had already dealt with all the other staff inside the secret research facility.

The only one left alive was Mercury.

The final target of resentment naturally also pointed to Mercury.

[Completely kill Mercury and let the souls rest in peace.]

As for the bloody will voiced by the resentment, the latter half was quite simple. He had already exorcised all the souls within Hel using the Soul Cleansing Banner.

As for the first half, taking out Mercury couldn’t be done immediately; he would have to wait until entering the Realm of Reason to find another opportunity.

Wu Chang’s consciousness left Hel’s resentment, and he had already gained a general understanding of everything that happened in the Underground Shelter Plane.

From the imagery within Hel’s resentment, the establishment of the secret research facility occurred after Mercury transformed Underground Shelter No. 88 into the Pillar of the Present World.

Due to the appearance of the Pillar of the Present World, the entire plane was brought into the Middle Layer, meeting the conditions for the Bright Society to establish a secret research facility.

When Mercury was hiding around the He Yun siblings, he set his sights here due to the unique conditions of the plane.

He killed two birds with one stone, using it as the Pillar of the Present World and establishing a secret research facility outside it, utilizing the death energy and souls within the plane to construct the Divine Hall of Death.

The underground people initially used to lure the surface people, they were likely the Bliss Sect followers mentioned by the He Yun siblings, who slaughtered Underground Shelter No. 87.

They didn’t have the good fortune of the He Yun siblings. As the plane entered the Middle Layer, Mercury’s projection was less suppressed, bringing a dimensional reduction attack to the Bliss Sect followers still at the level of the Desolate Realm.

This made Mercury tired of the act halfway through and directly took severe measures, forcibly taking over this group of Bliss Sect followers.

Wu Chang smirked, ”Once a person’s fists are big enough, they don’t like to use their brains much.” The same was true for Mercury and others.

Under the overwhelming power of Mercury, the secret research facility was successfully established, and many surface people meeting the requirements were sent there as experimental subjects.

Hel, as the most successful target among them, received special attention from Mercury, who designed the Netherworld Plan for her, attempting to use the entire planet as a sacrifice to outline the mythical Netherworld, and thereby help the Death Goddess divinity within Hel mature and even ascend.

Unfortunately, during the execution of the Netherworld Plan, the Painter happened to break into the secret research facility and steal the item used for creating the Imaginary Divinity.

To deal with the Painter, Mercury, proficient in pursuing, had to put Hel aside and hunt down the Painter.

Unexpectedly, when the Painter stole the Imaginary Divinity Stone Slab, they also peeked at the secret research facility’s internal files, targeting Hel.

Seizing the opportunity, they found Hel and used the help of freeing Hel from bindings as leverage to get Hel to free them from Mercury’s mark, then escaped back to the Desolate Realm.

Free from control, Hel acted more like a War God than a Goddess of Death within her resentment, fighting against multiple Bright Society members pushing them to flight.

Unfortunately, having just numeric value without operation and awareness, she died under the siege.

Although Hel was revived through Death Divinity, before her revival, she hadn’t figured out how to restore the revival consciousness, resulting in her being alive like a living dead with only simple attack instincts.

The Bright Society couldn’t deal with Hel temporarily, so they sealed her for the time being, intending to wait until after the World Dungeon when the Middle Layer could support World Dungeon levels to accommodate higher power levels before reclaiming Hel’s divinity.

Unfortunately for them, Wu Chang claimed the Underground Shelter Dungeon as a personal one, leaving them no way to enter.

Wu Chang sighed. If only Hel had a higher grasp on divinity to stay clear-headed during revival, once her divinity matured fully, it might truly surpass the Gaia divine format possessed by Amber.

At that time, he could have had one more strong ally dealing with the Bright Society in the Realm of Reason.

But the time left for Hel was too short to complete all of this.

With Hel’s death, the Netherworld Plan went completely out of control, and the Power of Death on the planet’s surface was triggered, plunging the entire surface into a deathly gray.

After sorting out the process, Wu Chang told Erin and the He Yun siblings all that happened on this planet.

Upon hearing this information, He Yi once again felt isolated, wondering why he was the only one curious about how Wu Chang knew all this?

Before Wu Chang could answer, He Yun blocked the question.

”It’s spirit communication. Wu Chang has the ability of spirit communication, and he used this ability when saving you, brother.”

Despite skepticism about spirit communication being so detailed, with his sister saying so, He Yi couldn’t continue questioning.

Having understood the causes and consequences through resentment, it was time to address the problems from back then.

But before that, he first needed to retrieve what Mercury was yearning for.

Wu Chang approached Hel’s corpse and extracted a light sphere condensed from gray mist from her forehead.
