Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 139: Chapter 130: Unusual Black and White Qi

When Wu Chang first entered the Abyssal Game, he purchased ten paid articles from the forum.

One of them mentioned that completing dungeons isn’t just about fighting or mechanically comparing stats; just having a high enough level and attributes isn’t enough to complete the corresponding difficulty of the dungeon.

If you want to achieve a higher dungeon completion rate, you need to treat the dungeon as a real world, not just a simple Beast Fighting Arena.

Players need to simulate the thoughts of the Dungeon World’s natives, communicate more with the Dungeon World’s natives, and fully exploit their roles to better explore the plot and delve into the Dungeon World.

Wu Chang deeply agreed with this theory, so he always liked communicating with the natives of the Dungeon World.

Especially those dungeon natives mentioned in hidden side quests, like Professor Ebert from the Peaceful Town, and the current Gravekeeper Han’er.

From them, Wu Chang could learn many unknown secrets of the dungeon, greatly aiding in completing the dungeon.

These dungeon natives are like this: if you don’t communicate with them, they will just sit on their secrets and watch the show, but if you activate their enthusiasm, they can always bring you some different surprises.

The method to activate their enthusiasm is simple, just put them in danger like the players.

For instance, Han’er before us, who looks blood-depleted and wobbly while walking, but if you set a frenzied Tree Demon behind him, he would dodge faster and more smoothly than cannon fire.

”Brother Sean, come out quickly, I really can’t hold on!”

”I can’t breathe, Brother Sean, help me quickly!”

”Help!”

Han’er cried miserably, but he dodged the Tree Demon for five minutes, with the Tree Demon using all its techniques, unable to touch Han’er even once.

In the chase and escape, neither Han’er nor the Tree Demon noticed the sky darkening.

Heavy dark clouds gradually obscured the sky over Graveyard No. 44.

Through the probing during this time, combined with the Tree Demon’s resentments against the cannon fire, Wu Chang had comprehended all of the Tree Demon’s attack patterns, now it’s time to close the net.

Perhaps due to the red moon being obscured by clouds, the Tree Demon’s movements gradually slowed down, widening the distance between itself and Han’er.

It sensed something dangerous accumulating above, but it couldn’t look up to observe, just as it couldn’t see the moonlight above it.

The next moment, Wu Chang pinched a spell in the corner and chanted, ”Thousand Thunder Summon!”

「Skill Name: Thousand Thunder Summon」

「Skill Description: Gather thunderclouds and utilize the Majesty of Heaven and Earth to continuously strike Celestial Thunder at the target. Each Celestial Thunder consumes a large amount of user’s Energy, and when Energy depletes, it will start consuming Will. The damage from Celestial Thunder is influenced by the user’s Energy and Inspiration. Celestial Thunder deals double damage to Yin Sha entities, with each strike increasing damage by 50%.」

「Note: Rumor has it that completing the Thunder Skill Fragment can summon a thousand thunders to strike simultaneously.」

Thousand Thunder Summon is the ultimate move unlocked after upgrading the Thunder Skill Fragment to C-Level, Wu Chang had upgraded it to C-Level but had never had a chance to use it, now the chance had come.

With a thunderous roar, a bolt of lightning descended from the sky, the dazzling white cleared the red that engulfed the Great Cemetery.

The Celestial Thunder struck directly at the Tree Demon’s head, descending with such speed that the Tree Demon didn’t have time to react, the Tree Demon’s crown turned to ash instantly, its ”hair transplant” efforts ruined by this thunder and turned bald.

The Tree Demon wailed, the many faces on its trunk turned to gaze at Wu Chang from afar.

This thunder did not cause significant damage at least compared to when it swallowed an entire string of grenades, and half of its body blew apart, the damage wasn’t as big.

But the energy contained in the Celestial Thunder made it feel a scorching pain from the soul, this intense pain frightened it, also making it frenzied.

The lower half of the Tree Demon composed of human limbs became engorged to a black-purple, about to launch with the springing motion it used against the cannon fire, but Wu Chang had figured out the Tree Demon’s spring start-up, having no intention to dodge at all, and pinched a spell again, the second Celestial Thunder struck down instantly.

The second Celestial Thunder was much more fierce than the first, turning the upper half of the Tree Demon into charcoal, the bluish-white electric light traveled along the groove-like bark on the Tree Demon’s surface, bringing a series of explosions and fire.

Celestial Thunder is the nemesis of Yin Sha evil spirits, the intense pain scattered the gathered power in the lower half of the Tree Demon, causing it to collapse on the ground with a scream.

The toppled Tree Demon looked up at the sky, not finding the blood moon it was looking for, only the dark clouds covering the sky, and a third blinding Celestial Thunder.

The third Celestial Thunder, stronger than the combined strength of the first two, directly blasted through the Tree Demon’s body, turning it completely into charcoal.

Gazing at the now temporarily motionless Tree Demon, Wu Chang let out a long breath and dispelled the clouds overhead.

If the Tree Demon hadn’t fallen, Wu Chang wouldn’t have been able to hold on much longer.

Thousand Thunder Summon is a Cultivation Skill, and compared to Ordinary Skills, the execution of Cultivation Skills places more emphasis on the user’s Attributes, having a lower minimum but a higher maximum.

The higher maximum represents a greater consumption, even with Wu Chang getting the Master of Breaking the Game bonus, possessing a formidable 45 points of Energy, he couldn’t withstand this consumption.

Every Celestial Thunder consumes exponentially more Energy, the first Celestial Thunder used up 20% of his Energy, the second one used 40% more.

By the time he called the third Celestial Thunder, it not only emptied his Energy but also added an ”Lightning Attraction” effect on him.

「Status: Lightning Attraction」

「Status Effect: You overdraw your Energy and Will to summon Celestial Thunder, under the Lightning Attraction status, your Willpower Limit decreases by 9 points. Status Duration: 24 hours.」

According to this calculation, if he forcibly summoned the fourth Celestial Thunder, the Lightning Attraction status would knock off another 36 points from his temporary Willpower Limit, and even with his Will Attribute, he’d have to worry about Inspiration Runaway.

However, such a strong consumption brings equally formidable effects.

Without leveraging any natural force at all, three Celestial Thunders thoroughly carbonized the Tree Demon, performing far superior to a string of grenades from the cannon fire.

Seeing this now, no wonder he couldn’t withstand Chi Yuan’s Thousand Thunder Summon earlier, substituting with an elite monster from a B-Level dungeon on the verge of losing control, it wouldn’t withstand either.

Wu Chang cleared his ears slammed by the thunder, walking toward the Tree Demon.

Turning the Tree Demon into charcoal was not the end, under the blood moon, if left unattended for a while, it would regenerate.

He took out the Soul Cleansing Banner from his personal space, to ensure the Tree Demon stayed down, further action was needed.

Activating the Soul Cleansing Banner, he entered Divine Travel Perspective, where the world in his eyes turned black and white.

The living are white, the dead are black.

When he used the Soul Cleansing Banner on Liu Ning in the Peace Thankful Dungeon, Liu Ning’s soul being led away by a zombie appeared grey, a mixture of black and white.

Currently, inside the Tree Demon, he not only saw black, white, and grey but also a red that binds the three colors together.

The red manipulates the Tree Demon’s life and death energy, forcibly maintaining it in a mysterious state between life and death.

As long as this red doesn’t disappear, the Tree Demon will remain in a state of inability to revive, unable to kill, where the soul cannot rest nor awaken.

Frankly, this state puts the Tree Demon in an eternal life state, but in Wu Chang’s view, this form of immortality is definitely a punishment, not a reward.

The red manipulating life and death energy is extremely stubborn, even Celestial Thunder could not remove it, but everything has its counter, and the Soul Cleansing Banner is its natural nemesis.

As Wu Chang’s Energy depleted using Thousand Thunder Summon, in order to drive the Soul Cleansing Banner, he had to use the method Chi Yuan taught him before.

Stepping the Gang Step, uttering the spell, waving the banner three times, pointing at the Tree Demon’s slowly restoring body. ℯℯ𝑙.

A stream of pure white Qi surged from the banner, with just a gentle brush, it completely cleaned off the red manipulating the Tree Demon’s life and death energy.

The struggling body of the Tree Demon suddenly stilled, the bizarre body made up of countless corpses slowly disintegrated; the disordered corpses fell to the ground and sank into the earth.

Moments later, where the corpses disappeared, a large cluster of life force-filled shoots sprouted.

The green shoots, under the blood red moonlight, stood out starkly.

With the absence of the bizarre red control, the Tree Demon’s black, white, and grey energies dispersed uncontrolled, as the Tree Demon disintegrated and rose slowly, and before they could ascend to the sky, they were gulped down by Wu Chang True Self waiting on the side.

The Talent Skill Gulping activated.

The Tree Demon was an elite monster among the B-Level nearly out-of-control dungeons and one of the stronger elites, more powerful than Doctor Charles in the Moonlight Sanatorium.

Devouring the Tree Demon directly increased the Strength Attribute of the True Self by 15 points, and the height under Giant Whale Transformation increased by 1.5 meters.

Equating to swallowing 15 mermaids in one go, but only deducting 0.5 from the Willpower Limit.

The True Self smacked its lips, quite a feast indeed!

While the Tree Demon was thoroughly resolved, the cannon fire’s Blood-Colored Will, [Blast it to smithereens!] also dissipated along with it.

Now it’s time for Wu Chang’s favorite treasure hunting moment.

Wonder what good loot the cannon fire will drop for him.
