Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 122: Chapter 117: Wu Chang’s Wish

”What wish did you make?” Wu Chang couldn’t help but ask.

Being singled out by the Miracle Committee surely meant He Wei’s wish wasn’t your average one.

He Wei said dejectedly, ”I just wanted to customize two works more impactful than my cherished ones.”

Wu Chang furrowed his brow slightly. That wish was indeed tough, but not impossible.

After all, with AI so advanced, can’t they just arrange whatever you want to see?

He replied irritably, ”Tell the truth.”

He Wei gave an honest and simple smile, sheepishly saying, ”I also wanted to witness it in person, not through a screen.”

Aha, found the problem.

Wu Chang showed a look of disdain. He knew that if He Wei had the power to make his heart’s desire come true, the world would have a hard time.

Even if the Evil God came down personally, they’d be in for hell.

Wu Chang sighed and tilted his head toward the direction of the Golden Mask, asking, ”Then why were you singled out? Did you anger them?”

He Wei glanced around and whispered, ”Not really, they were quite pleased to find out my wish couldn’t be easily fulfilled. They said they wanted to take me to headquarters to make a wish to the Great Miracle directly.”

Oh? An unachievable wish is actually more popular?

Wu Chang pulled He Wei, confirming the details of his wishing process.

According to He Wei’s description, like everyone else, he first shouted out his wish, although his was a bit outrageous, so he muttered it quietly.

But as soon as the wish was uttered, he quickly caught the attention of all the committee members.

The Miracle Committee member wearing the Golden Mask came straight to him, saying they wanted to personally listen to his wish, using their own Power of Miracles to resonate with He Wei’s wish, helping him connect with the Great Miracle.

When even the Great Miracle couldn’t fulfill his wish from afar, the Golden Mask treated him like a treasure, singling him out to take him back to headquarters.

After hearing He Wei’s description, Wu Chang and Sword Star exchanged a look, both feeling this was an opportunity.

The key to breaking the Heart’s Desire scenario surely involved the Miracle Committee.

As a management entity in Yifu City, the drones haven’t found the headquarters of the Miracle Committee.

To enter the headquarters, it should require a special method, much like entering the Dream Plaza.

What He Wei experienced was likely one way.

That is, having a wish that’s almost impossible to achieve under normal circumstances.

The two immediately relayed the discovery to Shi Ning and others.

He Wei, recovering from the panic of his secret being found out, belatedly looked at Wu Chang and asked:

”Boss, why do I feel you’re unusually calm, not worried about the current situation at all. Boss, do you know what’s happening?”

Wu Chang was just about to use his usual real lies to fool his way out, but before he opened his mouth, he remembered Sword Star was right next to him, so he changed his tune and awkwardly said:

”With your wide connections and you don’t know, how could I possibly know what’s happening.”

He Wei laughed, ”Right.”

Sword Star, listening from the side, shook his head, silently noting Wu Chang was still too honest, lacking enough lying experience, looking quite unnatural. It might fool a college student fresh out of school, but any more seasoned person would see right through it.

He’d have to remind him later.

While Wu Chang was talking with He Wei, Shi Ning on the other side had already made a judgment.

He instructed those who infiltrated Dream Plaza to try to become special candidates according to He Wei’s method, to gain the qualification to enter the Miracle Committee headquarters.

Even though they figured out the method, making an outrageous wish was not an easy task.

There are many restrictions when making wishes in Dream Plaza.

The first and most important point is sincerity.

The wish you make must be something you truly desire from the depths of your heart, a wish you’ve repeatedly thought about in your mind.

A wish concocted on the spot just because it’s hard to achieve won’t be seen as a heartfelt wish.

For instance, if you’re a P-game player kneeling in Dream Plaza and praying for world peace, even if you shout yourself hoarse, it won’t be recognized as your real wish.

For most Abyssal Game players, their wishes are nothing more than surviving in the scenario, becoming stronger, or leaving the scenario.

The more ambitious ones just want to climb up and become a higher-up in the Management Bureau.

For the Great Miracle of Yifu City, these are the most normal wishes, not difficult to handle.

For their wishes, the only response from the staff on site is, ”Please continue wishing, when enough Wish Power is accumulated, a miracle will occur.”

Based on the summary of several failures, Shi Ning discovered a few rules.

Firstly, the wish must be related to oneself. Even if you are truly selfless, wishing for world peace doesn’t count as your wish, and the same goes for wishing to destroy the world.

Secondly, wishes must be specific. Vague wishes are usually ignored.

A member of the Management Bureau wished to gain the power to control everything.

How to control, how control is judged, and what you can do after gaining control?

Without these detailed settings, a mere vague concept cannot become a wish.

But if these settings are completed, it will no longer be a single wish, but many wishes.

Third, the wish must be direct and achieved in one step.

Faced with a step-by-step wish, the wish will be automatically graded. For instance, if you wish to become the richest person in the world, it will be simplified to a desire for wealth, automatically downgraded to becoming a rich person. The more sincere the heart, the wealthier you become.

With the three points summarized above, only Sword Star and Wu Chang remain in the plaza, as the other teammates have declared failure.

After some thought, Sword Star conjured up the wish he wanted to make.

He softly said, ”I want to use the Flying Sword Abyss Suppression from the Abyss Second Layer as my Lifebound Flying Sword to initiate the Sword Immortal reincarnation.”

Flying Sword Abyss Suppression, the legendary S-Level flying sword, only appears in S-Level dungeons related to sword cultivators.

Sword Star’s wish sounds like two wishes, but it is not.

As long as he can get rid of the egghead, Sword Star’s reincarnation into a sword cultivator seems within reach, and Sword Immortal is the advanced profession of a sword cultivator. By rounding up, Sword Star could be considered a mini version of a Sword Immortal.

His wish is simply to chop off the prefix before his Sword Immortal with the Flying Sword Abyss Suppression.

Sword Star’s wish was personal, specific, and direct enough.

This wish, indeed, attracted the attention of the Miracle Committee member.

The Miracle Committee member wearing the golden mask approached Sword Star and said:

”From you, I felt a special power of wish. Your wish is temporarily difficult to achieve, but I can resonate with it using the Power of Miracles and pass it on to the Great Miracle.”

”If your wish is pure enough, the Great Miracle might exceptionally fulfill your wish, allowing you to become one of us.”

The words of the Miracle Committee member instantly drew the attention of other citizens in the plaza. They looked at Sword Star with envy in their eyes.

Sword Star cooperated fully, allowing the Miracle Committee member to place a hand on his shoulder, then he repeated the wish.

It doesn’t take a guess to know that the wish is doomed to fail.

The Flying Sword Abyss Suppression is an item produced in the S-Level dungeon on the Abyss Second Layer, capable of slaying the Evil God of Abyss Third Layer. The sword qi it unintentionally emits is enough to tear apart a runaway Heart’s Desire dungeon.

If that so-called Great Miracle really had the strength to fetch the Abyss Suppression, it wouldn’t be trapped in a B-Level dungeon in the Desolate Realm.

After Sword Star finished his wish, the Miracle Committee member took a half-step back, and a tear cut by a sharp object appeared on the lapel of his suit.

Wu Chang raised an eyebrow after seeing this, thinking the Great Miracle wouldn’t really be so bold as to seek out Abyss Suppression for a job switch, would it?

After a short silence, the Miracle Committee member’s gaze toward Sword Star changed, becoming enthusiastic and excited.

”I sensed your wish; it is very pure. You are also a special person. Later, come back to headquarters with us. The Great Miracle will be delighted to meet you.”

Sword Star showed a smile on his face and replied, ”It’s an honor.”

After Sword Star, it was Wu Chang’s turn.

Wu Chang did not voice his wish but silently recited it in his heart.

Before he could finish silently reciting his wish, the Miracle Committee member’s gaze seemed magnetically attracted, torn from Sword Star to focus on Wu Chang.

The Miracle Committee member began to sweat, and sweat flowed down through the gaps of the golden mask on his forehead, as if there was a faucet inside the mask.

As a veteran Miracle Committee member, he had a foreboding about the ominousness of Wu Chang’s wish. If he could, he would prefer to pretend nothing had happened and skip over Wu Chang.

He could even directly hand over the golden mask to Wu Chang, allowing Wu Chang to take his place in the Miracle Committee position.

Unfortunately, he could not.

His duty did not allow him to evade.

In Wu Chang’s hopeful gaze, the Miracle Committee member swallowed and repeated in a trembling voice, ”From you, I felt a special power of wish. Your wish is temporarily difficult to achieve, but I can resonate with it using the Power of Miracles and pass it on to the Great Miracle.”

Wu Chang put on an expectant, innocent look and said, ”That’s great, let’s get started.”

He grabbed the Miracle Committee member’s hand, placed it on his shoulder, and began silently reciting the wish he had just made.

”I really am not cheating, please stop having the Abyssal Game administrator target me.”

As Wu Chang silently wished, the Miracle Committee member in front of him began to spasm violently.

The golden mask representing the identity on the Miracle Committee member’s face shattered into powder under invisible force, and the Miracle Committee member himself seemed to be a can thrown into a large shredder.

One filled with carbonated drink.

The fizzy juice sprayed everywhere, and the remaining flesh and blood body was crushed into a layer of twisted and folded skin by an inexplicable power.

”You killed the Miracle Committee member and gained 500 experience points.”

”The player level is too different from the Miracle Committee member, and the experience points gained are doubled.”

”The scarcity of your wish surpassed the Miracle Committee member, and you successfully obtained the status of Little Miracle’s Blessing from the target’s body.”

”You gained the permissions of a Miracle Committee member.”

Wu Chang: ?

No, buddy, did you come here to scam?

He wiped the mysterious liquid from his face, threw the severed hand on his shoulder— the only intact part left by the Miracle Committee member— to the ground, and innocently shouted to those around him:

”Everyone saw it, right? I didn’t do anything; he fell on his own. Don’t try to scam me!”
