Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 126: Chapter 120: A Novel Strategy for Defeating the Boss (Part 2)

Unable to move and with low perception ability, these two traits combined sparked a bold idea in Wu Chang’s mind.

He thought of a very new strategy for tackling the BOSS.

When Wu Chang was checking the grievances, Sword Star and Shi Ning had already completed their conversation.

Shi Ning suggested that the two of them wait and assist him in determining their current location first. Then, he would draw a Five Ghosts Mountain-moving Talisman to deliver sufficient supplies to them before entering the BOSS room for battle.

Confirming the spatial position was very simple; they just needed to activate a Crane Seeking Talisman and control it to rotate around themselves. After a minute, Shi Ning would be able to lock onto their coordinates.

After hearing this, Wu Chang pondered for a moment and said, ”I actually have an idea. I don’t know if it’s feasible.”

Sword Star showed no impatience, ”Go ahead.”

Wu Chang’s combat power was somewhat lacking, but his intuition was very accurate. Along the way, he had discovered many clues, which made neither Sword Star nor Shi Ning overlook his ideas.

Pointing at the large door in front of him, Wu Chang slowly said, ”Based on my experience playing games in the real world, these BOSS rooms usually seal once entered, only stopping when one of the players or the BOSS is dead.”

Sword Star nodded, ”In fact, in the Abyssal Game, this is generally the setting as well. Precisely because of this, Professor Shi and I are particularly cautious.”

Wu Chang continued, ”This kind of inescapable terrain suggests that the interior is a closed space, and the BOSS inside usually cannot leave the room easily for some reason.”

”I think maybe we can crack open the door slightly, and without entering the room, first test the BOSS inside.”

Sword Star frowned. He thought Wu Chang’s reasoning was flawed, but on second thought, couldn’t find any faults, and it seemed quite reasonable.

Sword Star was caught up in Wu Chang’s reasoning, but Shi Ning was not.

”If you can attack the BOSS across the door, the BOSS can also attack you across the door. Even though Sword Star can attack from a distance using the flying sword, if the BOSS is attacked, it might automatically close the door, trapping the flying sword inside. When the BOSS destroys the flying sword, the fight would become even more difficult for you.”

At this point, Wu Chang said, ”Maybe I can give it a try.”

”You?” Sword Star and Shi Ning said in unison.

Sword Star asked in confusion, ”I’ve seen your file, and I don’t remember you having any ranged attack methods. Even if you do, are you confident you can engage in a long-range skill showdown with the BOSS?”

After all, they were in a B-Level dungeon that was out of control, with a real difficulty approaching A-Level.

Not just Wu Chang, even Sword Star, without using some close-range, high-power sword techniques, wasn’t confident about defeating the BOSS inside the room.

Wu Chang gave a hearty smile and said, ”I certainly didn’t plan on a direct confrontation with the BOSS. Based on my experience, my Social Phobia skill, combined with Professor Shi’s Concealing Talisman, is enough to prevent most BOSSes from noticing my presence. As long as no directional skills are used, the BOSS might not discover me.”

”As for my damage skills...”

At this point, Wu Chang displayed his Sea Snake Transformation, planning to reveal right from the start his skills of Social Phobia and Sea Snake Transformation.

”Talent Skill: Snake Venom”

”Skill Description: In the state of the Sea Race, your energy attribute increases by 50%, and you can convert energy into soul poison. Targets hit by snake venom will lose control of their bodies, gain a poisoned status, and receive continuous poison damage.”

”Soul Poison: A special poison targeting intelligent life. The poison directly reaches the soul, and entities with energy bodies and those without flesh or blood cannot be immune.”

”Talent Skill: Miasma”

”Skill Description: Instantly spray a large amount of misty poison, permeating the surrounding air or water domain, causing area damage, and applying soul poison to the target.”

”Talent Skill: Amphibian”

”Skill Description: The sea snake has powerful adaptability, allowing it to survive on land. This high adaptability grants the user partial transformation abilities to use some of the sea snake’s capabilities in any environment, at any time.”

Wu Chang maintained an honest and straightforward smile, saying, ”Previously in the Peaceful Town dungeon, by a stroke of luck, I became a Town Councilor and attended a secret gathering. During the gathering, I consumed a special Golden Flying Fish and gained this transformation ability.”

Seeing Wu Chang’s three transformation skills, Sword Star and Shi Ning fell silent.

Transformation isn’t a particularly rare ability. Just take a stroll around the public area of the Crimson Courtyard, and out of ten players, at least three can transform, with orcs and vampires being the most common.

Ordinary transformation skills usually only amplify an attribute by 20%, providing a passive and an active skill. The skill effects are generally not very strong.

However, Wu Chang’s transformation skills, compared to those ordinary ones, were a bit too strong.

Especially the use of soul poison and amphibian adaptation made this transformation both powerful and versatile.

Without considering upper limits, just within the Desolate Realm, the strength of the Sea Snake Transformation was no less than some weaker hidden professions.

Shi Ning looked at the skill descriptions of the Sea Snake Transformation while considering the skill combination Wu Chang mentioned, and it seemed indeed feasible.

”You can try it.”

While agreeing with Wu Chang’s approach, Shi Ning instructed Sword Star, ”While he tries, Sword Star, you stand by and protect him at all costs.”

Upon gaining their approval, Wu Chang opened a crack in the large door in front of him, activated Social Phobia and the Concealing Talisman, and cautiously crouched outside the door.

The interior was dark, making it hard to see the specifics inside. He could only vaguely see a glowing object at the far end of the room, emitting a great aura.

That thing was calling out to the two of them, summoning them to enter the room and return to its embrace.

The allure of the summoning was incredibly strong. Sword Star resisted it with all his might, relying on the Sword Heart skill not to fall for it. He hastily looked at Wu Chang, only to find Wu Chang’s expression calm, showing no sign of being affected.

Wu Chang whispered, ”It hasn’t noticed my presence.”

Subsequently, Wu Chang used the Sea Snake Transformation to slowly inject the room with the colorless and odorless snake venom.

To make himself appear more strained, he even attempted to borrow a few energy potions from Sword Star before starting.

Sword Star, being generous, directly gave him five Energy Activation Potions and instructed, ”Don’t be frugal. As long as it’s for clearing the Erosion Dungeon, the bureau will reimburse.”

”Item Name: Energy Activation Potion”

”Item Type: Consumable”

”Artifact Level: D.”

”Item Description: After use, it slowly restores 80% energy value within 100 seconds. This value will not exceed a maximum of 40.”

Wu Chang raised his eyebrows. D-Level consumables without penalties for consecutive use in a short time truly are premium goods, as expected from a well-funded bureau.

He drank a bottle on the spot, accelerating the toxin injection.

Under his control, the poison quickly spread to the foot of the Tree of Miracles.

The effect of the soul poison meant that regardless of whether the Miracle Committee fused into the Tree of Miracles was judged as humans or trees, as living or dead entities, they had to obediently eat the poison.

Under the intense soul poison, the Tree of Miracles quickly reacted.

One minute under the soul poison mist, the leaves on the Tree of Miracles turned yellow, and the faces of more than a dozen Miracle Committee members began to appear haggard.

They murmured amongst themselves, thinking they hadn’t rested well.

Three minutes under the soul poison mist, the Tree of Miracles began to exhibit signs of decay, and several Miracle Committee members became older.

They felt time had passed too long, starting to feel the aging, and so wished to regain youth. Their faces improved to some extent, but the feeling of weakness did not disappear.

On the fifth minute of poisoning, the Tree of Miracles couldn’t control its body anymore, starting to twitch erratically, and some branches made of flesh drooped powerlessly around the trunk.

Several Miracle Committee members felt they were under attack but couldn’t figure out where the attack was coming from.

On the seventh minute of poisoning, the growing fear of weakness made them agitated, launching indiscriminate attacks around them, attempting to use AoE to expose the hidden rats in the room.

Yet all these skill attacks did not exceed the room they were in, so Wu Chang and Sword Star outside the door remained unaffected.

On the tenth minute of poisoning, the Tree of Miracles entered the second stage, in which it could concretize the wishes of players for its use, but at this moment, it was meaningless.

On the fifteenth minute of poisoning, the Tree of Miracles’ light dissipated, and over a dozen Miracle Committee members, with intense reluctance, turned into massive rotting flesh and collapsed into pieces.

A prompt appeared before Wu Chang.

”Defeated Tree of Miracles, gained 3000 experience points.”

”The player level and the Tree of Miracles’ level were too far apart, experience points doubled.”
