Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 118: Chapter 114: Welcome to Yifu City

The players participating in the dungeon raid were quickly selected.

The initial selection of players was set to 18, most of whom came from Shi Ning’s lecture tour team, with player levels around Level 20.

Local players from Wanghai City included only Wu Chang, Zhao Yan, and two other instructors.

Unfortunately, powerful players like Lei Huo and Meng Yawen were busy at the branch handling additional compensation brought by Lin Jiang.

The fighting club where the branch is located happens to be outside the erosion zone.

Among the 18-member team, the absolute main forces in the raid were Shi Ning and Sword Star.

Shi Ning, as a researcher, does not like combat, but having been in the Abyssal Game for a long time, his level has reached the Desolate Realm’s cap at Level 30.

His style leans towards support, with his personal skill system centered around drawing talismans.

He took out a yellow-cloth-covered altar table and a stack of yellow paper to draw three paper talismans for each member.

”Item Name: Insight Talisman”

”Item Type: Limited Time Consumable”

”Item Description: Using the Insight Talisman grants the Spiritual Light status, with a chance to discover special clues in the dungeon, influenced by inspiration.”

”Item Name: Protective Talisman”

”Item Type: Limited Time Consumable”

”Item Description: Using the Protective Talisman grants a layer of golden light shield, blocking substantial damage and granting the state of invulnerability to evil.”

”Item Name: Crane Seeking Talisman”

”Item Type: Limited Time Consumable”

”Item Description: Using the Crane Seeking Talisman summons a pathfinding paper crane, which is attracted by ongoing extraordinary events.”

Shi Ning grouped the team into nine groups, two per group, with him and a defensive member from the Management Bureau holding the center, while the other eight groups spread out in eight directions, starting from Wanghai University and expanding outward to explore.

He advised everyone, ”Once an uncontrolled dungeon begins eroding reality, it will gradually surpass the original level cap of the dungeon. We must act quickly to find the Erosion Core before the dungeon grows into an A-Level uncontrolled dungeon.”

”In reality, erosion dungeons differ from the Abyssal Game’s dungeon raiding strategies. Exploration should not pursue completion percentage; speed and safety take priority. Mark anything suspicious, avoid rushing in; once preliminary exploration is complete, proceed with other teams.”

According to the original grouping, Wu Chang should be paired with Zhao Yan, with Sword Star and Shi Ning providing center support.

But Sword Star worried that Wu Chang might struggle to protect himself, so she voluntarily decided to team up with Wu Chang.

Though Sword Star meant well, Wu Chang did not appreciate it and instead found it bothersome.

Being followed by someone who can see through truth and falsehood, he’d rather carry an actual burden.

Yes, the burden refers to Zhao Yan.

Wu Chang True Self and Erin’s Golden Scenery Garden residential area is southwest of Wanghai University, so he voluntarily applied to explore this region.

As soon as he left Wanghai University, he sensed something was wrong.

Having spent four years at Wanghai University, he could navigate the surrounding streets with his eyes closed. He was certain that the west gate of the school should not be like this.

The landmark Orange Hotel was still there at the gate, but its sign had changed to Peach Grand Hotel.

Looking inside the entrance, the hotel’s lobby was filled with tables and chairs, truly turning into a restaurant.

This feeling was incredibly eerie, as if two cities were overlapping and merging.

He informed Sword Star of the anomalies he discovered and asked, ”When a dungeon loses control and erodes reality, does it overlap with the real world?”

Sword Star shook her head, ”You should have come across recently popular Otherworld Secret Realms; they are remnants left by dungeons eroding reality. Normally, when dungeons erode reality, a new region seems to emerge from thin air, without affecting the original space.”

Wu Chang frowned, unsure if this change came from the Painter’s ability or the uncontrolled dungeon.

Several drones flew over their heads towards a densely populated area in the southeast.

While the drones were flying, speakers attached to them were broadcasting announcements.

”Attention citizens: Due to the impact of extreme weather anomalies, the city has entered a red alert status. Please remain indoors and do not venture outside lightly.”

These drones, influenced by a Management Bureau member’s ability, were unaffected by the dungeon’s erosion barrier, currently acting as loudspeakers to remind city residents not to leave their homes.

Based on previous experiences dealing with erosion dungeons, staying indoors typically avoids more than eighty percent of the danger.

”Attention citizens...”

As the drones broadcasted for the third time, the voice suddenly became intermittent, as if the signal was disrupted.

A few seconds later, the broadcast resumed, but the content had changed.

”Welcome to Yifu City, the Miracle Committee of Yifu City reminds everyone to stay positive, stay energetic, and stay healthy every day. Please integrate with us, our beliefs will forge a wonderful future for Yifu City.”

From the rear quickly came news explaining the reason for the drone anomaly.

According to the person involved, when the drone he controlled moved 500 meters away, he felt something in the dungeon hijacked his ability.

Not only could he not break free from the hijacking, but promotional messages about Yifu City directly embedded into his mind; had it not been for the Protective Talisman, he would likely have had an Inspiration Runaway on the spot.

The opening was disadvantageous, but not without gain.

At least they now knew the background of the dungeon, named Yifu City.

This name is enough to investigate related intelligence about the dungeon.

The erosion dungeon has departed from the Abyssal Game, syncing its time flow with the real world; the downside is the prolonged raid time, leading to increased casualties within the dungeon.
