The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1000: Chapter 1000: Settling Wages (7)

Gu Yao initially didn’t have any special feelings for Erni, and even found her reserved personality somewhat unappealing, but those days at the market stall, he saw her striving, clearly shy, yet still trying her hardest to hawk her goods, smiling at every customer who came to buy the pancake snacks...

It was then, he suddenly found, the little girl was actually quite adorable.

Having been away for so long this time, he found himself starting to miss her, and now, seeing the little girl smiling so brilliantly, he found his heart brimming with joy, too. He hurriedly dismounted, but ended up scooping the little girl onto the horse’s back.

People around them immediately burst into good-natured laughter, even teasing that the two were a perfect match.

Gu Yao’s face turned red from the teasing, and Erni’s face was even redder than a monkey’s bottom, but it was obvious she was happy, grinning so wide that her eyes disappeared.

Gu Qingheng also heard the news and came out to greet them.

When Gu Yao saw the vibrant Gu Qingheng approaching him step by step, tears suddenly fell: ”Big brother...”

Gu Qingheng stepped forward and patted his shoulder: ”You’ve worked hard.”

But Gu Yao shook his head happily; his brother was better, truly better! Especially upon seeing Shadow Seven following behind, he was even happier. Not only was his brother’s health better, but his fighting spirit had returned as well. How wonderful!

”Xinxin, we’re back...” Li Zhong turned to look at the entire transport team, excitedly saying to Yang Ruxin, ”We’ve returned safely...”

”You’ve worked hard.” Yang Ruxin nodded, greeting everyone in turn, ”Let’s first handle the handover, and we’ll talk later. Moreover, you’ve all been away for so long, your families are missing you...”

The handover went smoothly, there was an inventory list for the outgoing trip, and the goods were accounted for, with the prices already agreed upon beforehand, so just dropping off the furniture and bringing back the receipts was all that was needed. As for Silver, Qi Jingyi would settle the accounts after the furniture was sold.

On the return trip, they had also brought back some goods from Beijing, which were all itemized, with clear counts and prices.

Yang Ruxin settled everyone’s wages, calculating at two hundred wen per person per day, with Uncle Lao Kuang and a few others in charge receiving an additional thirty wen each day.

That is to say, everyone earned at least a little over five taels of Silver on this trip.

However, when they reached Beijing, Gu Yao took it upon himself to advance each person two taels of Silver, because it isn’t every day they come to the capital, and they should bring home some gifts for their families. Thus, that advance would be deducted from their wages.

This was more money than they could earn in any other job, and everyone could do the math. Just one trip a year could support a family for several years.

”Everyone has worked hard.” After Yang Ruxin distributed all the Silver, she looked up, ”I’ve also prepared some New Year’s goods for everyone; you might as well take them home with you.” As she spoke, she had Wang Laibao and Xu Shou bring out the items, giving each person a pheasant, two pounds of sausage, a jar of shrimp paste, and a pound of candy.

No one expected that not only did they visit the capital and see the world, earning Silver, they were even receiving New Year’s goods, leaving them at a loss for words.

”Since the boss has given these to us, let’s accept them and just work hard in the future,” Li Zhong spoke on behalf of everyone, ”Everyone hurry back home...”

”You hurry back as well,” Liang Youcai chuckled, ”I bet you’ve been missing your wife, haven’t you?”

”Don’t you miss her too?” Li Zhong glared at Liang Youcai, ”If you don’t miss her, then don’t go back...”
