The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 972: Chapter 972: The Mayor (3)

”Sister Guo...” Shen Yilan seemed a bit anxious.

However, before Guo Rou even reached the doorway, footsteps sounded from outside, and then a group of well-dressed ladies walked in.

Guo Rou had no choice but to retreat.

The leader of the group was a slightly plump woman, whom the others treated with a great deal of respect. This person was known to Yang Ruxin; she was Ma Lushi, the wife of the town head of Lianhua Town, with whom she had previously spoken during her visit to the Fang Family. Ma Lushi was also one of the ladies who had received medicinal tea from her. Another lady, whom Ruxin had not met before but was treated respectfully by Shen Jiashi, yet stood slightly behind Ma Lushi, must be Guo Tongshi, the wife of the deputy town head.

In the Daxuan Dynasty, the position of town head was not ranked nor appointed by the Ministry of Personnel. Instead, it was elected by the village heads and Lizheng. Nevertheless, the town head was like a Ground Snake in his own right.

Whenever a County Magistrate arrived at a place, they would generally establish good relations with the town heads to better manage the affairs of the entire county.

Therefore, it was only natural for the Shen Family to show kindness and good cheer to the town head.

The deputy town head acted as the right hand of the town head and was typically appointed by the town head himself.

Accompanying these two women was Jia Family’s madam from Shen Family’s second branch, followed closely by two aunts, Ge Yunfang and Hun Ling, the latter being Shen Yilan’s biological mother.

Ma Lushi spotted Yang Ruxin the moment she walked in, and a smile immediately bloomed on her previously unsmiling face, ”Miss Xinxin, you’re here too.” Walking straight up to her, she was exceedingly polite, ”Had I known you were here, I would have brought my mischievous girl along.”

”Madam Ma.” Yang Ruxin nodded slightly, ”There will be an opportunity to meet Sister Shuangshuang in the future.” Ma Lushi had three children; her eldest and youngest were sons, and her middle child, a daughter named Ma Shuangshuang, was sixteen years old and reportedly seeking a marriage, which explained her absence from such gatherings.

”Sister Lu, who is this...?” Guo Tongshi quickly followed.

”Sister Tong, this is Miss Yang,” announced Ma Lushi in a voice that was not at all subdued, ”You’ve always been curious about the medicinal tea I drink? It was blended by Miss Xinxin.” Looking toward Yang Ruxin, she continued, ”Miss Xinxin, I must tell you, ever since I started drinking the medicinal tea you prepared, my bowel troubles have improved greatly. Now, I can ’go’ every single day...” The ’bowel troubles’ she referred to were a more discreet way of speaking about constipation.

Upon hearing this, Guo Tongshi’s eyes nearly shone with excitement, ”Miss Yang, my husband’s surname is Guo...” She was well aware of how severe Ma Lushi’s constipation had been, as she often dared not eat much and had consumed several ineffectual medicines. Recently, her complexion seemed to have improved, reportedly thanks to the medicinal tea.

”Madam Guo, greetings,” said Yang Ruxin with a nod, ”However, the herbs in that medicinal tea were all personally prepared by my master...”

”Your master?” asked Guo Tongshi, puzzled.

Ma Lushi leaned in and whispered something in Guo Tongshi’s ear.

Guo Tongshi’s eyes widened in astonishment, ”So it’s...” Then she suddenly burst into a radiant smile and waved to Guo Rou, ”Rourou, come here.”

Guo Rou’s complexion was not great, and she walked over hesitantly.

”Xinxin, this is my daughter, Guo Rou, she’s a bit older than you. In the future, I hope you two can become closer...”
