The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 973: Chapter 973: House Arrest (4)

”Madam Guo, I dare not get close to Miss Guo.” Yang Ruxin’s eyes narrowed slightly, ”Just now, Miss Guo was saying she wanted to have me driven away, claiming that if I didn’t leave, she would.”

She was willing to befriend those local tyrants in town but that didn’t mean she was willing to tolerate provocations. With people like Madam Ma who had shown goodwill, it was fine, but with someone like Guo Rou who judged without discernment, she had no interest in extending a friendly hand.

”Rourou, what’s going on?” Guo Tongshi’s face immediately became awkward. Her family was nothing more than a deputy town chief, without any official rank, even the town chief’s wife had to be handled with great care, and her daughter... had she offended such a person?

”I...” Guo Rou glared at Yang Ruxin.

Ma Lushi’s expression also turned grim: ”Madam Tong, it seems that Miss Guo has quite the temper?”

”This...” Guo Tongshi’s face flushed red, ”Sister Ma, I think it might be a misunderstanding...” Then she glared at Guo Rou, ”What exactly happened?”

Guo Rou shrunk her head but still failed to realize her mistake; instead, she stubbornly said, ”She’s bullying others because of her power. First, she forced Li Cuicui away, and then she bullied Tong Lingling. I was just displeased...”

”Would Miss Guo like to explain why I forced Li Cuicui away or why I bullied Tong Lingling?” Yang Ruxin tugged at the corner of her mouth, ”As a country girl, would I really pick on two young ladies for no reason as soon as I arrived?”

”You...” Guo Rou really didn’t know how to explain because if she were to tell the truth, it seemed that Li Cuicui and Tong Lingling were indeed the ones who spoke first.

”Can’t say anything now?” Yang Ruxin took a step forward, ”You know nothing, so why come out and play the so-called righteous defender? Do you think it’s easy to be a hero?”

”I...”

”It was Li Cuicui who insulted Xinxin first, and then Tong Lingling smeared Xinxin’s reputation. Xinxin was just responding to them...” Wei Yao could no longer hold back, ”Yet Miss Guo accuses Xinxin of being wrong, even wanting to drive Xinxin away...”

”Shut up.” Guo Rou glared at Wei Yao.

”You shut up!” Guo Tongshi shouted angrily, raising her hand and delivered a slap to Guo Rou, ”Go back immediately, grounded for a month.”

”Mother...” Guo Rou covered her reddened face, tears swirling in her eyes. The New Year was approaching, with many activities to come. Even the gates of Beijing were not closed for the three days of New Year, not to mention the celebrations in the following month. Being grounded now meant she would miss everything.

”Take her away.” Guo Tongshi showed no mercy, calling over her personal maid, ”Without my permission, she is not to step half a step out of her courtyard.”

And so, Guo Rou was led away in tears.

”Miss Xinxin, I am sorry. I have spoiled that child.” Guo Tongshi apologized to Yang Ruxin awkwardly.

”Madam Guo is too kind.” Yang Ruxin smiled, ”I always abide by the principle of not offending others unless I’m offended...” Then she continued to take her seat.

”Yes.” Guo Tongshi nodded sheepishly, then looked pleadingly towards Ma Lushi.

Ma Lushi sighed and then turned to Shen Jiashi, ”Madam Shen, let’s start the banquet.” Having interacted with Yang Ruxin before, she understood her character somewhat; she wasn’t one for needless drama, and her cue now indicated that she no longer held a grudge.

”Alright.” Shen Jiashi nodded eagerly, ”Please, let’s move to the Warm Pavilion over there; it’s bright and the plum trees on both sides are in full bloom...”
