The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

38: Chapter 38 Scattering All Family Wealth”Huh?”

Han Jingyang smiled and explained, ”He changed his own destiny through acquired effort. To put it bluntly, he changed his fate by making money. Now that there’s a problem, we can naturally start from this angle. Dispersing all his wealth is also a form of changing his fate. Although it’s a reverse change of fate, it offers a chance to avoid a greater disaster. Does that make sense?”

Shen Yuhai’s eyes lit up. ”Retreating to advance.”

”More or less. So-called metaphysics is really just a way for our ancestors to interpret the world, society, and people. Destiny is a set of theories for interpreting relationships between people, not much different from the Marxism-Leninism you study. It’s a theory based on people, and changing one’s luck and fate is a tool-oriented theoretical system that helps people achieve their goals in social activities.”

”I understand. The essence is the same, just the appearances differ. In essence, both are ways of interpreting social laws.”

”As expected of Director Shen, you see things differently, straight to the essence.”

”It’s because you explained it thoroughly enough. But metaphysics is metaphysics after all; it’s still not quite the same as ours, right?”

”Old Shen, is there any difference between metaphysics and science?”

Shen Yuhai was silent for a long time, then shook his head.

Han Jingyang chuckled inwardly; he had finally managed to fool him.

Although it was a bit unscrupulous, he had no choice.

As a charlatan like him, he had to have different scripts for different people because he needed to make them willing to pay up.

Facing someone like Shen Yuhai, a complete and even scientific-sounding theory was extremely important.

With Sun Fuchang, he didn’t need to say so much; as long as he could vaguely justify it, that was enough.

It was even simpler with Liu Jing and her family. He didn’t need to explain anything, just take action and let the facts speak for themselves. Once they saw the results, they would empty their wallets without hesitation.

Of course, these theories weren’t entirely made up; they were carefully compiled by combining popular theories on the market with his own real experiences and observations. Even without his cheat, he could still make a name for himself in the metaphysical circle just by relying on this set of theories.

Afterwards, Shen Yuhai directly changed the subject. ”Zhou Yucheng’s problem is indeed quite serious; it’s related to an ancient tomb at the level of a Tang Dynasty prince or nobleman.”

Han Jingyang asked casually, ”Did he participate directly?”

”Not exactly, but a major artifact passed through his hands. The tomb-raiding gang was uprooted, and everyone in the relevant chain has been brought to justice, except for Zhou Yucheng. The reason he’s still holding on is that there is no more direct and powerful evidence, but there are transfer records, and even tax records and invoices as evidence.”

”What’s the key point?”

”The key point is whether he participated with subjective intent or was unaware. Although the nature of the violation is the same, the sentencing is completely different. There’s nothing to be said about the former, but the latter has a lot of room for maneuver—probation or even just a fine is possible.”

”Does this mean someone has it in for Zhou Yucheng?”

”Yes. Zhou Yucheng is a businessman; it’s inevitable that he has to deal with all kinds of people. No matter how slick he is, he can’t avoid offending anyone, right?”

Han Jingyang nodded slightly. ”It seems I didn’t mislead him; he really does need the help of a noble person.”

”No, I actually think dispersing his wealth is a better choice.”

”Oh?”

”He doesn’t even need to disperse it all; he can still keep some capital to make a comeback.”

Han Jingyang understood.

It was all caused by money.

But that’s normal. In the current social environment, over eighty percent of conflicts are caused by money.

But should he warn Zhou Yucheng?

Han Jingyang couldn’t make up his mind for a moment. After all, he had never dealt with such matters before and was unsure of himself. If the final outcome was good, it wouldn’t matter.

But what if the outcome was very bad? How would he handle himself then? How would he face Zhou Yucheng?

Pretend he knew nothing, take Zhou Yucheng’s money, and leave?

That was possible too. Anyway, he didn’t have much of a connection to Zhou Yucheng, and he didn’t particularly like the man himself. Even if Zhou Yucheng ended up as a prisoner, he would still have a clear conscience. After all, he did what he was paid to do, and other matters had nothing to do with him.

After pondering for a moment without getting anywhere, he looked up at Shen Yuhai. ”Old Shen, do you think I should warn Zhou Yucheng?”

”You can give him a proper hint, but your previous thought also makes sense. Even if he knows this method, he might not be willing to do it. He spent a lifetime working hard to save up that little bit of family fortune; it’s truly cruel to ask him to give it up just like that. So, just do your best. Regardless, Zhou Yucheng counts as a significant figure.”

”Will it affect you?”

”That won’t happen,” Shen Yuhai smiled. ”Regardless of whether this idea came from me or not, as long as I’m not the one telling Zhou Yucheng personally, it doesn’t matter.”

”It seems Zhou Yucheng didn’t take the wrong path before; you really are his noble person.”

”No, you are. If it weren’t for you, Zhou Yucheng would not only be in trouble, but he might not even be able to keep his assets. Since you’ve stepped in, you can at least help him keep one of those things.”

Han Jingyang nodded slightly. ”Okay, I’ll find an opportunity to give him a heads-up.”

With the decision made, he felt much more relaxed.

Of course, the premise was that Zhou Yucheng was worth helping.

If Zhou Yucheng had committed a heinous crime like murder, he wouldn’t have bothered to care.

But handling one cultural relic, this...

Let’s put it this way: worldwide, every single owner of an antique shop has violated such laws.

Because at least half of the antiques circulating in the current antique market are unearthed items, and according to the law, buying and selling such items is a crime.

But no place would arrest all these owners.

It’s just that Zhou Yucheng was unlucky, got caught with evidence against him, and happened to fall into the hands of his enemies.

There’s no other explanation.

After finishing the discussion about Zhou Yucheng, Han Jingyang and Shen Yuhai both fell silent.

Because both of them knew that what they had just discussed was only the appetizer.

The content that followed was the most important.

After a dozen seconds of silence, Shen Yuhai said in a low voice, ”The person has been arrested, and Sun Xiaoliang has confessed everything.”

”And then?”

”He confessed a bit too much and spilled the beans about your affairs too.”

”Will it have an impact?”

”It won’t affect the case itself, but it will have an impact on things outside the case. To say nothing else, you definitely won’t escape the observation of our system; at the very least, we have to put you on record. If any similar cases really happen in the future, you will definitely be the prime suspect.”

”You believe in this too?”

”We only believe in evidence. No matter how outrageous it is, as long as it truly exists, we will definitely keep an eye on it. Come to think of it, Quancheng isn’t short of various folk masters; for example, those young men who do parkour were called in to be put on record long ago, and there’s also that person who throws throwing knives with extreme precision. You’re getting the same treatment as them.”

”...”

Han Jingyang’s expression was unpleasant, but his nerves relaxed quite a bit.

Just being on record—that didn’t matter.

Moreover, it was almost impossible to leave direct evidence for what he did.

Without evidence, no one could do anything to him.

Unless some powerful national-level agencies and organizations stepped in.

But does the country have such units?

Han Jingyang thought of the various mysterious units described in novels, and he actually felt a little bit of anticipation.
