The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

22: Chapter 22 Bad FriendsHan Jingyang thought for a moment, and still answered it.

After all, Old Sun had just spent 2.8 million with him, making him a bona fide big customer.

The call connected, and Old Sun apologized repeatedly: ”Mr. Han, I am truly sorry. I’ve made a laughingstock of myself and caused you embarrassment. I will definitely, absolutely make it up to you another day.”

Upon hearing this, Han Jingyang’s anger immediately dissipated, because Sun Fuchang hadn’t actually done anything to wrong him; the problems lay with Sun Fuchang’s wife and son.

He always judged matters based on their own merits, not on the people involved.

So he laughed: ”You should deal with your family matters first. Also, keep a close eye on that bottle; it is a true treasure. If it gets even a slight bump, I will scold you, even if you’ve already paid for it.”

”Okay, I will keep it safe. If necessary, I’ll just lock it away and wait until these matters are resolved before taking it out again.”

”As long as you know what you’re doing, that’s fine.”

”Also, well, um, Xiaoliang just went out, so you, you should be on guard…”

Han Jingyang narrowed his eyes: ”What do you mean? Is he coming to cause me trouble?”

Sun Fuchang’s tone was very ashamed: ”He has a bunch of bad company, and if he drinks a little, there’s nothing he won’t do…”

Han Jingyang snorted: ”Old Sun, then let me say this plainly upfront: if he really dares to come, I won’t hold back again.”

”This…”

”So try your best to keep your precious son under control. That’s all.”

Han Jingyang hung up the phone directly.

Liu Jing obediently ladled a bowl of rice for Han Jingyang and placed it in front of him: ”Boss, is the problem very serious?”

”It’s nothing, just eat.”

”Oh.”

Liu Jing was uncharacteristically quiet and didn’t chatter away. After keeping Han Jingyang company through the sumptuous seafood feast, she spoke again: ”Boss, how about we go out for a stroll?”

She was trying to persuade Han Jingyang to go out and avoid the trouble.

Han Jingyang smiled: ”It’s not a big problem. We’ll operate as usual. If something really happens, you run first.”

”Definitely, definitely. A weak woman like me wouldn’t dare get involved in a conflict between you big men. At most, I’ll help you call the police.”

”As long as you know what you’re doing, that’s fine.”

Encountering such annoying matters, Han Jingyang had no mood to go treasure hunting, so he continued to study the few dharma instruments related to Feng Shui that he had just acquired in the shop.

The bagua mirror, sanqing bell, zhentan wood, and tianpeng ruler.

These were bona fide Taoist dharma instruments, the standard equipment for a Taoist priest descending from the mountain.

They were also the dharma instruments most commonly used by folk Yin-Yang Masters and Feng Shui Masters; all that was missing was a peach wood sword.

It wasn’t easy to assemble such a set of old items, let alone that they were all original pieces, all from the Jiaqing era. To have them passed down to the present day in such complete condition was truly remarkable.

Moreover, except for the compass, they were all Grade 6 and came with three skills.

Their attributes were all ”Evil-Warding”.

The three skills, however, were different, namely ”Domestic Peace”, ”Righteousness Overcomes Evil”, and ”Warding Off a Hundred Evils”.

Understanding from the literal meaning, the targets of these three skills were slightly different.

”Domestic Peace” was easy to understand; it was for guarding the house.

”Warding Off a Hundred Evils” was also not hard to explain, but its scope of application should be broader, with more applicable scenarios, not as singular as ”Domestic Peace”.

Only ”Righteousness Overcomes Evil” was hard to explain, but it should also be aimed at various negative attribute energies like evil qi and baleful qi.

The overall attributes were very uniform, but the specific effects differed.

This was his understanding of this four-piece set.

It’s just that he really didn’t know how these skills and items could be put to use in such an urban environment.

Perhaps they would be good placed at home, to find peace for the family.

”Sell them?”

If other items with different attributes and skills might still have a market, nobody would likely buy items with such a thoroughly supernatural vibe, especially rich people willing to spend hundreds of thousands or even millions on an item; they definitely wouldn’t jump into this pit.

After 3 PM, just as Han Jingyang put away the four-piece set, he saw Old Shen leading his wife, carrying large and small bags, pushing the door open and greeting him warmly: ”Mr. Han, I am sorry, I am sorry, I’ve only arrived at this hour.”

Old Shen’s wife explained from the side: ”My mother-in-law’s condition just stabilized, and we didn’t even have time to eat lunch.”

Old Shen scolded: ”Why say all that?” Then he said to Han Jingyang: ”Mr. Han, I don’t mean anything else. First, it’s to settle the fee for your hard work, and second, it’s to thank you in person. If I hadn’t held onto a glimmer of hope, I would have really missed this opportunity.”

Look at how he speaks.

Truly elegant.

Han Jingyang sighed inwardly; people are just different. The same meaning, when spoken by different people, gives different feelings.

However, he said aloud: ”I take money to eliminate disasters for others. Besides, as for the fee, Professor Zhou Yucheng has already settled it. One million, the price he promised when he came to me, not a penny less.”

Old Shen hurriedly waved his hand: ”No, no, no, it’s different. Old Zhou is Old Zhou, and I am I. Old Zhou spent money because he wanted to do me a favor; I am paying myself because I want to form a bond of kindness with you. They are two separate matters and don’t conflict.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Han Jingyang’s phone received a balance change notification; another full million had arrived.

”This…”

”Return it?”

”Or accept it?”

Two thoughts flashed through his mind. Han Jingyang pointed to the sofa: ”Please sit.”

Old Shen and his wife then handed the bags to Liu Jing and sat on the sofa: ”Mr. Han, my mother just had surgery, and it went very smoothly. The doctor said my mother’s condition is unbelievably good, completely unlike what it should be for that age group.”

”Congratulations.”

”That Professor Liu from the Capital heard about this and wanted to visit you, but I was afraid of disturbing your practice, so I didn’t disclose your information. What do you think…”

Han Jingyang felt a twinge of regret.

He wasn’t afraid of being known or even exposed, because he was a person with real skills who could withstand scrutiny.

Moreover, that Professor Liu had such a big background; getting connected with the other party would help expand his network and business scope.

However, as a master, he had to be reserved.

So he smiled: ”It doesn’t matter. If we are fated, we will naturally have a chance to meet again.”

Upon hearing this, Old Shen instantly guessed Han Jingyang’s thoughts: ”When I go back, I’ll talk to Professor Liu and see what his attitude is toward these matters.”

Han Jingyang nodded noncommittally: ”As long as the old lady is fine, nothing else matters. Moreover, whether it’s Feng Shui or modern medicine, both serve people and each has its strengths and weaknesses. They can be complementary existences, not antagonistic ones.”

”Mr. Han is broad-minded.”

”Doctors with professional integrity must also have such a broad mind.”

”But some doctors…”

”It’s normal, they’re just obsessed. Just as some people are superstitious about Feng Shui Arts, I have always believed that being superstitious about any discipline or concept is unscientific. True scientific thinking is to accept and acknowledge everything that exists, and to approach, understand, and study it with a scientific eye, rather than closing one’s eyes and shouting that the other side is pseudoscience.”

Old Shen hurriedly applauded: ”Yes, yes, yes. Existence is materialism, even if it exists in a way that people today do not understand.”

Han Jingyang nodded slightly, and just as he was about to say something, he heard the roar of motorcycles at the door. Seven or eight motorcycles stopped at the shop entrance, but they didn’t get off; instead, they kept revving their engines at the shop.

The ”rumbling” engine sounds made the door and window glass buzz.

The tea in the cup on the coffee table also rippled slightly.
