The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

25: Chapter 25 A Series of MisfortunesHan Jingyang shook his head and refused, ”There’s no need. I’ll just keep it for you.”

In truth, he understood Sun Fuchang’s intention—he wanted to deposit a sum of money with him. Although there were no issues with the procedure, he was too sensitive about the timing.

Sun Fuchang intended to divorce and start a new family, so paying a large deposit here at this moment carried the suspicion of transferring assets.

If everything went smoothly, it would be fine.

But if Sun Fuchang’s family were to get into a financial dispute, he wouldn’t be able to explain himself.

Therefore, he refused directly.

Besides, his items were never hard to sell; he didn’t need Sun Fuchang as a buyer.

Sun Fuchang was a little disappointed, but he didn’t say anything more; he simply nodded and turned to leave.

Sun Fuchang left.

Liu Jing came over to clear the teacups and teapot from the coffee table. She was quick and efficient, but her mouth wouldn’t stop gossiping, ”Boss, is Boss Sun getting a divorce?”

”I suppose so.”

”At his age, is he still capable of that?”

”With enough effort, there’s still a chance. Having a child in one’s seventies isn’t exactly rare, and besides, Old Sun has only just reached his sixties.”

”Hehe, I reckon Boss Sun has had this idea for a long time, it’s just only now coming to a head. I heard before that Old Sun was once so angered by his son and wife that he was hospitalized and nearly didn’t make it. I think it was a cerebral hemorrhage or something.”

”...”

”Alright, alright, I’ll stop gossiping. Is the boss going out to hunt for treasure? By the way, is there really a dharma instrument that helps people conceive? Can it determine the gender?”

Han Jingyang rubbed his temples, ”Take your time cleaning up, don’t worry about the storefront for now.”

With that, he stood up and left.

He was going treasure hunting.

...

While Han Jingyang went out treasure hunting, Sun Xiaoliang went to the hospital alone to treat his injuries. He called his band of fair-weather friends, but they either made excuses or simply didn’t answer. Some had even blocked him before he could call.

Clearly, they all realized they had caused trouble and didn’t want to associate with Sun Xiaoliang, the culprit, anymore.

By the time the furious Sun Xiaoliang arrived at the hospital, he discovered that his mobile payment bank card had been frozen. He had to go to the bank to verify it before it could be unlocked, so he had no choice but to call his sixty-year-old mother.

It was already dark by the time he finished his check-up.

He endured the pain for another night before undergoing surgery to set the bone.

But the moment he stepped out of the hospital, he tripped over the curb.

”Ah—”

Sun Xiaoliang let out a miserable scream. His arm, still in a cast, landed hard on the ground. The bone that had just been set cracked open again, and bone fragments even poked into the plaster cast.

After finally getting it set again, his father, Sun Fuchang, finally arrived late.

Seeing Sun Fuchang, anger welled up in Sun Xiaoliang’s heart, ”How dare you show your face here? If it weren’t for you, would I have had to suffer so much?”

Sun Fuchang merely looked at Sun Xiaoliang with indifference, ”I have long been completely disappointed in you. I only came here to tell you one thing: I have divorced your mother. I am leaving with nothing, and from now on, don’t come bother me for any reason.”

”What?” Sun Xiaoliang was horrified, ”Divorce? Are you crazy?”

”I am not only not crazy, I feel quite good. Finally, I won’t have to be tormented by you mother and son all day long. One is stupid and evil, the other is good for nothing. All the connections, reputation, and savings I accumulated over the years have been squandered by you two, to the point where I don’t even dare to greet old friends when I go out. Now, it’s good. I am finally free, and from now on, we have absolutely nothing to do with each other.”

”You, you, don’t even think about it! I am your only son. Even if you die right now, everything you have is mine.”

”Sorry, I have made a will. Everything will be donated after I die. Besides, you are nearly forty years old; I no longer have any obligations or responsibilities toward you.”

”If you act like this, don’t expect me to take care of you in your old age.”

”Take care of me? I’d be thankful if you just stopped sucking my blood,” Sun Fuchang said, turning to leave. Before he left, he added, ”If you don’t want to die a miserable death, apologize to Mr. Han as soon as possible.”

Seeing this, Sun Xiaoliang panicked, ”Hey, hey—”

Although he was a good-for-nothing who didn’t act like a human being, he knew who the pillar of the family was.

So he hurriedly got up to chase after Sun Fuchang, but the moment he got off the hospital bed, his hand missed its support, and he fell hard onto the floor once again. The first thing to hit the ground was, once again, the arm that had just had its bone set for the second time.

The first fracture would have healed if the bone had been set and put in a cast to recover slowly.

The second injury at the hospital entrance meant not only resetting the bone but also hospitalization for observation.

This third time...

Sun Xiaoliang was desperate. When his mother rushed over, he immediately cursed, ”Who told you to divorce him?”

Mother Sun shrank her neck, ”He, he left with nothing. The cars, the house, and the savings are all ours. Even the antique shop was transferred to my name. He only took a broken bottle. Isn’t this great? With so much money, our family won’t have to worry about food or drink for the rest of our lives, and we don’t have to look at his face all day. Isn’t that wonderful?”

Sun Xiaoliang’s vision went black; he was almost angered into a faint. He had known his mother lacked foresight before, but this was the first time he truly felt it, to the point where he didn’t even have the energy to argue. He could only hold his breath and ask, ”Did you get the certificate?”

”We got it, and we signed the contract and had it notarized. It’s too late for him to regret it now.”

”How much money is there?”

”More than 14 million. The villa is in your name, the old house is in my name, the antique shop was also transferred to my name, and the cars and other assets have all been handed over.”

”Did you check all the banks one by one?”

”Yes, I checked. I checked all the bank cards under his name.”

Sun Xiaoliang nodded, ”That’s fine. Which bank is your card from?”

”The Credit Union.”

”Rural Credit Unions aren’t safe. I think it was that kind of bank that couldn’t let people withdraw money a while ago. Transfer it to my card; mine is an ICBC card, 100% safe.”

”This...”

”Are you afraid I won’t take care of you?”

”No, no—”

”Then what are you standing there for?” Sun Xiaoliang roared, ”Hurry up and call the doctor for me first—”

Sun Xiaoliang’s third bone-setting surgery was completed quickly.

As soon as he left the operating room, he took his mother straight to the bank and transferred all 14 million plus in cash to his own card.

With the money in hand, Sun Xiaoliang’s mood improved a bit, and he was even thinking about renovations on the way home.

Seeing his wife, Zhao Xiaoying, busily working away in the villa, his mood improved even further, and he couldn’t wait to tell her the news.

Zhao Xiaoying was also all smiles, gently catering to Sun Xiaoliang’s every need, and that night, she even took the initiative to serve Sun Xiaoliang, and even played a role-playing game with him.

After the play was over, Zhao Xiaoying stroked Sun Xiaoliang’s solid chest, ”Honey, didn’t Dad say he wanted to invest in some project before?”

”Yeah, what’s up?”

”Now Dad doesn’t have money, but the project is still there. How about we invest in it? The returns are so high. If we invest this 14 million, in three years it will be 30 million. Isn’t that much better than just sitting around eating away at our savings? It will also let Dad know that you aren’t a good-for-nothing, and prove to him that we can live very well without him, to prove our worth.”

”This...”

”We don’t have to invest it all at once. Let’s invest three or five million first to test the waters and see how the returns really are. If it works, we can invest more; if it doesn’t, the loss will be within our tolerance, and it won’t hurt our foundation.”

”That project...”

”That was a project Dad was optimistic about. It’s one thing that your vision isn’t as good as Dad’s, but surely you have at least this much courage? If that’s the case, I don’t want to be looked down upon by others while being with you...”
