Chapter 2241: World of War (2)

Tang Shaoyang was surprised when he saw the notification. As soon as he got the notification, two messages almost simultaneously arrived in his inbox. One was from Zhang Mengyao, and the second one was from Wei Xi. He already knew what they wanted to talk about. Sure enough, they inquired about the World of War.

”Hmmm...”

When he took the mission to guard Void Gate, Clementine agreed to give Earth protection for three years. The protection didn’t just obscure Earth’s coordinates, but also prevented the other world from issuing a World of War challenge.

It was still seven or eight months before the protection expired, yet a challenge was issued. It meant there was someone, or maybe a situation, that lifted the protection.

”Bahmes...” He muttered while trying to recall if he knew something about this world, but this was the first time he had heard about this world.

”What’s wrong?” Li Shuang paused, noticing something was wrong with her husband. From the gesture, it seemed her husband was reading a message.

Tang Shaoyang shared the notification instead of answering him. Her eyes widened in surprise as she scrambled to take out a notebook from her inventory. She opened the notebook furiously and found what she was looking for.

”Aren’t we under protection for another eight months and six days?”

Li Shuang put such important information in her note. If the protection had expired today, she would not be presenting these reports. She would call Tarrior, TEID, and the Adventurer Guild’s representatives to discuss the World of War instead.

”It’s supposed to, but it seems there’s someone who is messing with me...” Tang Shaoyang sent a message to Arion. Then he also sent a message to Ira and Khaya about the world called Bahmes.

This was why he wanted to absorb the Feng Family for their intelligence network instead of killing them all for their bodies. Then he sent a message to Feng Zhan and Lu An to gather any available information about the world called Bahmes.

Li Shuang frowned upon hearing the answer. It meant her husband was not wrong about the duration, but someone, or maybe a faction, was messing with the Tang Empire.

”We have three days to respond...” Her words stopped midway, looking at the screen one more time. She realized that there was no option to decline or accept. It meant Earth was forced to accept the challenge by the System, but why? From what she knew, they could decline the challenge up to three times.

Every time they declined a challenge, they could not be challenged again for another month. It meant they could delay the challenge for three months, giving them more time for preparation.

If they accepted the challenge and won, they could not be challenged in the World of War for the next year. The interval would be doubled every time they accepted a challenge and won. For the second win, they would be given a two-year interval for another challenge, four years for the third win, and so on.

However, it would reset if they issued a challenge for World of War. If they issued the challenge and won. They could only issue a challenge or accept a challenge in six months, and the intervals would double each time they issued a challenge to another world and won.

”Let’s delay the reports for another day. I need to go to the Administrator to find out what happens.”

Tang Shaoyang just stood up from his chair as a second notification rang. It was a different notification.

[United Sovereign has proposed to hold the World Congress!]

It was followed by a second notification after the first one.

[The majority factions of Earth agreed to hold the World Congress!]

[The World Congress will start in eight hours!]

It seemed the other factions, including his vassal, immediately agreed to the proposal. They seemed to be in panic because they could not decline the challenge. Since they could not decline the challenge, they needed to decide how they should handle it.

The challenged world would have the full authority to decide the terms of war. Three types of battle were commonly used. First, it was a Duel. Each world would pick its chosen ones, including those with limitations. Minimum was three participants, and maximum was ten participants for a duel. There were two formats for the duel as well: Last Man Standing or based on the number of wins.

Second, it was Battle Royal where each world picked their one hundred to one thousand finest players to fight in a system-created realm for a certain amount of time, usually between one month and six months. The challenged world decided the duration, and the one with the most survivors won.

The third method was All-Out-War. It was where two worlds would be connected with ten to twenty portals. Again, the number of portals was decided by the challenged world. There was no time limit, and the connection between the two worlds was permanent. They would fight until one world was conquered or surrendered.

As the challenged world, Earth had the full authority for the method of war. That was the reason behind the World Congress.

”Zhang Mengyao will represent me if I don’t return on time. Tell her to delay the decision until I return with more information about Bahmes!”

Earth was given three days to decide the method of war. If they didn’t submit the proposal in time, the System would pick the method at random.

Li Shuang nodded, ”Be careful...” She thought Tang Shaoyang was about to go for another dangerous journey.

”Don’t worry, the Administrator is a safe space. At least it’s supposed to...”

Tang Shaoyang came over, giving her a hug and a kiss on her forehead. He received a reply as he was about to leave. It was Arion who replied to his message.

[Come to the Administrator! We will talk there!]

Tang Shaoyang had a meeting with Arion and Clementine, listening to them as to why Earth’s protection was lifted. Andre, Baba, Harmond, Loke Ponteus, and Ebbe Telines were present as well. It was the majority of the Executive Administrator, minus two people: Valeria and Douma.

Arion was giving him a lengthy explanation, a convoluted explanation, trying his best to appease Tang Shaoyang. To put simply, it was Andre, Harmond, Loke Ponteus, Baba, and Ebbe Telines’ decision to lift the protection with an excuse of undeserved privilege.

It came to a vote with Arion and Clementine against the idea, while five people agreed to lift the protection, and the remaining two were neutral. That was how the protection was lifted today, and Earth quickly received a challenge not long after, which was not a coincidence.

Tang Shaoyang looked Andre in the eyes, ”Is that really the reason why?”

Andre just shrugged, not giving him an answer. Harmond and Loke Ponteus had a smirk. Ebbe Telines kept his expression neutral while Baba had a frown, looking like regretting his decision.

”Good enough. At least now I know who my enemy is.”

Tang Shaoyang was not trying to act cool, but this was indeed good information. At least, he knew who wished for him to fall, so he could be cautious. Then Tang Shaoyang turned around and left the meeting room.

”Where are you going!? The meeting is not over yet. We still need to talk about the Void Cult. We detected their movement!” Harmond called out, but he only got a middle finger from Tang Shaoyang.
