Chapter 2231: Feng Zhan

The golden palm rained down on the Grand Elder with no mercy. Bang after bang resounded in the air as each palm struck down. Exactly fifty-five dark-golden palms rained the Grand Elder down. A cloud of dust rose as the floating island was shaken under the barrage of Heaven Shattering Palm.

Tang Shaoyang remained on his spot, still on guard. He hadn’t received the killing notification, meaning his opponent was still alive.

Sure enough, as the dust settled, a figure was revealed. The Grand Elder was still standing, his fire remaining but flickering. It looked like it would die out anytime soon.

His robe was tattered, exposing part of his body, and he no longer exuded the same aura as before. It was obvious that the attack took the most out of the Grand Elder. His body wobbled and was about to fall to the side, but he managed to put on strength. He ended up falling on his knee instead of lying on the ground.

His breathing ragged, trying to get as much air as he could. He did his best to circulate his energy, trying to suppress his internal injuries. His phoenix fire was healing his body as well, but it was slow.

The Grand Elder was confused. The man admitted he was an outsider, but the attack was a technique of the cultivator. It was a martial art technique, not a skill that outsiders often used. But he had never heard of someone like this man before.

The Feng Family was secluded from the outside world, but they were still keeping up with the outside world’s affairs. Who was in power, or what happened in the Sacred Realm? They had the information, including the other hidden families and power.

However, the Feng Family was not aware of someone of this caliber. For someone to be this strong, this man should be famous in the Sacred Realm, yet the Feng Family didn’t have information about this man.

Tang Shaoyang let out a sigh of disappointment. He could feel the turmoil from the Grand Elder, the rollercoaster emotion. His Absolute Sense picked up the confusion, fear, dejection, and anger from him. But nothing mattered to him because the man failed to give him what he wanted.

“This is a disappointment. I hope your Patriarch could do better!”

It was about to end the fight and came for the main dish. He appeared in front of the Grand Elder with his fist covered in his internal energy. It was just a normal punch imbued with his internal energy. A clean strike to the head should do the job.

Halfway to hitting the head, a hand grabbed his wrist, stopping his fist. Tang Shaoyang’s eyes widened in surprise because he didn’t sense it coming. It was then followed by a danger sense that came from his belly. A fist came for his stomach, a blazing fist.

Tang Shaoyang’s figure faded, turning into an ethereal form. The grip could not hold him as the blazing fist hit past his stomach. He materialized behind the black-cloaked figure who stopped his fist, but to his surprise, the figure reacted to him.

The cloaked figure turned around and sent a backside kick. That caught him off guard and hit him, sending him flying backward. The kick packed a punch, but nothing serious enough to cause an injury.

That was when he got a clear look at who interfered. The figure had the same cloak as the Grand Elder, and he felt a stronger aura from this one, stronger than the Grand Elder. He quickly cast Detection and was surprised by the information that came to him.

Name: ???

Cultivation: 9th-Stage True God Realm

Rank: God

Faction: Feng Family

——————————

This one was not just a peak True God Realm, but also a God Rank. This one was similar to him, a cultivator but also a player.

“You returned in time, Grand Elder Feng Zhan! An outsider is attacking our family, and the three Heavenly Beast levels are attacking our main residence!”

Grand Elder Feng Zhan glanced down at the injured Grand Elder, then he looked at the main residence. The barrier was shattered, and the three Heavenly Beasts were fighting against the main force.

Then he noticed another four-figure with no aura. If not for his keen eyes, he might not have noticed the skeleton and the two demonic beasts that were on the Heavenly Beast side.

Only then did Feng Zhang turn toward Tang Shaoyang, “Who are you? Why are you attacking the Feng Family?”

“Does it matter now? Why are you people from the Feng Family obsessed with your attacker’s identity?” Tang Shaoyang found it funny because this was not the first or second time the Feng Family’s cultivators had questioned his identity.

“It doesn’t matter. If possible, I will just give you what you want instead of fighting you. I don’t think this place could hold on if we fight here. Countless innocent people would die.”

That was an unexpected response, something he didn’t expect to hear from the Feng Family’s members. He kept his battle outside because he didn’t want the people in the city swept into their battle. He was not going his way to save them, but he was not going to intentionally get them involved as well.

“I don’t think you can give me what I want.”

It was not exactly what he wanted, but what Xiyue wanted. It was revenge against the Feng Family, who had killed her family. It meant Feng Zhan’s death was part of the revenge.

“You can’t give him what he wants, Grand Elder Feng Zhan! He’s here to help that defective phoenix take revenge against us!” The wounded Grand Elder raised his voice in disbelief. He could not believe what Grand Elder Feng Zhan said.

That caused Feng Zhan to look at the direction of the main residence once more, taking a better look at the dark-purple phoenix. He didn’t recognize it right away, but he remembered the incident a few hundred years ago. Their secret realm was attacked by the last surviving phoenix they had worked with for thousands of years.

He remembered the unique color of this phoenix as he quickly linked the phoenix to that incident. He furrowed his brow because he remembered the phoenix should have been dead.

While the phoenix managed to escape from them, his brother, the current patriarch, struck a killing blow with a specialized technique to kill a phoenix. It was a technique that prevented the phoenix from going through rebirth.

His brother even sent an elite team to hunt it down. While the elite team didn’t return, they should be enough to ensure the death of the phoenix. It surprised him that the phoenix was still alive.

‘Ah, right. He’s an outsider. He might have a way to resurrect the phoenix as long as he finds the remnant.’

“I see… So you are helping the phoenix to get her revenge?”

“Not exactly helping, more like a contract between her and me. So yeah, there’s no hard feelings between us.”

The Feng Family killed the phoenix they had befriended to gain more power. Tang Shaoyang had to help Xiyue get an additional strong spirit to his arsenal. On top of that, he could get more bodies. Not just the cultivators, but also the phoenix for the sacrifice.
