Chapter 2208: The Hidden Family

Tang Shaoyang sensed surprise and confusion, mixed with relief, from his new spirit.

[You didn’t ask me the target of my vengeance. Aren’t you going to regret it later? There’s no coming back from now.]

She was relieved that Tang Shaoyang didn’t ask about her vengeance target, but also confused. She felt like her master was too careless.

”Since you are killed in the Sacred Realm, then your vengeance target is also the people from the Sacred Realm, no?”

Xiyue still didn’t get what he meant, but he was not wrong. [They are indeed from the Sacred Realm.] It still didn’t explain anything.

”Then there’s nothing I need to be worried about. Just give me the name, then we will look for them.”

The Phoenix finally understood why Tang Shaoyang didn’t ask. It was because Tang Shaoyang didn’t see the people from the Sacred Realm as a threat. She was relieved, but at the same time was also offended since she was also from the Sacred Realm.

Her master was certainly arrogant for saying that, but that put her at ease. She didn’t need to be concerned that her master would run away.

”So, who’s the target?”

Despite his arrogant remark, he could sense a hesitation from the Phoenix. She seemed to be afraid that he would go back on the pact once she mentioned the name. He could sense her nervousness, but she answered.

[They are the hidden family, the Feng Family!]

Xiyue was waiting to see a reaction from Tang Shaoyang after she dropped that name. However, there was no reaction; Tang Shaoyang’s expression remained flat, confused even.

He knew the great family from the Murim Alliance, but none of them were Feng. But again, she mentioned the hidden family, meaning they were not involved in the Sacred Realm’s affairs. It was more like the Sword Manor.

[But why did the Feng Family kill you? Aren’t they supposed to revere the Phoenix to the point they would worship the Phoenix?]

Ouyang Biya was the first one to respond, confused. She knew the Feng Family, another force that was on the Heaven Founder’s list to be wary of.

The Heaven Founder’s information mentioned that the Feng Family’s core technique was related to the Phoenix. The founder of the Feng Family created the technique after getting a touch of the Phoenix.

[They have gone crazy, getting obsessed with completing their technique. They believed that they would perfect the technique if they could absorb the Phoenix’s internal energy. For that, they hunted my family...]

It was quite a long story. The phoenix was living in a group, in a hidden space, like a small tribe. Their number was small to begin with, less than thirty. When Xiyue was born, she was not welcomed by her own people because she was different.

But still she grew up in her village as a cast out with just the love from her mother. It was hard to birth a new Phoenix, so her mother kept her by her side until she was an adult, growing strong enough to defend himself.

After that, she was kicked out of the village. The other Phoenix believed that she was a bad omen. She resented the village, but she loved her mother.

Back then, the village was maintaining communication with the Feng Family. They had a close relationship and were considered allies until a new patriarch took the family head seat. That was when the Feng Family obsessed over completing their core technique and killed the whole village just to absorb their energy for cultivation. Her mother was one of the casualties.

She found out about it late. But the moment she found out what happened, she tried to avenge her mother, not for the village but for her mother.

She managed to sneak into the Feng Family’s secret realm and found the place where they stored the Phoenix remains. They created a cultivation room with the Phoenix remains, enriching the room with Phoenix energy.

Xiyue tried to retrieve her mother’s body but was caught by the Feng Family’s patriarch. The new patriarch was powerful, on the same level as her, but he also had his family, while she was alone.

Xiyue decided to escape and returned later, but they were too strong. The Feng Family was throwing the bodies at her, just trying to keep her from leaving. She managed to kill a lot of people except for the Patriarch of the Feng Family.

She managed to escape, wounded. She thought she would be fine in a while until she realized that the Feng Family had not just developed a technique to kill a phoenix, but they had developed a weapon to kill a phoenix. Her regeneration didn’t work, and she could proceed with rebirth even though she had prepared her fire essence, the seed for her rebirth.

The Phoenix Spirit tried to explain how strong the hidden Feng Family was. However, Tang Shaoyang’s mind drifted to something else. It was about the phoenix bodies, and if he counted the Feng Family as well. That was another Spirit Summoning.

[Do you hear me? You can’t just barge into their secret realm like me. We need a plan, and certainly we need more people!]

The Phoenix read what was in Tang Shaoyang’s mind and tried to remind Tang Shaoyang not to carelessly attack the Feng Family.

”We don’t need a plan, and we have the people. Don’t you see them already?”

Xiyue was confused for a moment until a loud voice from Bao Xue and Shizi resounded in his head. She was surprised by the appearance of the two Desolate Heaven Beasts.

Tang Shaoyang thought she was surprised to see her friend, but he was wrong when he heard her first reaction.

[Why are you here!? You should not make a contract with these two crazed beasts. They will get you killed!]

He was caught off guard and was confused, ”Aren’t you three friends?”

[Friend your foot! These two beasts are crazy. They kept coming to me just to get beaten, and they never gave up, even though I spared their lives multiple times!]

[You beat me because of my two stupid brothers. If I can control the body alone, you will be begging me to spare your life!] Shizi’s left head quickly refuted.

[Shut up, you mad lion! I know you can split your body into three. You used that against me, and you still lost!] Xiyue unintentionally raised her voice.

[Come on, guys. We should not fight as friends!] Bao Xue tried to mediate.

[We are not friends!] Both Phoenix and Shizi’s left heads said that at the same time.

”I would like to visit this hidden family, but we will visit them later. There’s something else I want to do before that.”

Tang Shaoyang could attack the Feng Family, but he decided to put that on hold. He still wanted to perfect his Martial Arts and used the Feng Family to test his progress later on. He would save them for later, and it was time for him to return. He promised his wives he would return... two days ago.

Tang Shaoyang realized that he wasted so much time looking for these locations. It was past the promised time. Sure enough, his inbox was full of messages and calls.

He quickly made his way back to the Thousand Vows Pavilion. He forgot to leave a spirit behind, so he could switch places right away. It was not in the plan that he had to explore the Sacred Realm because he was just looking for a location for Spirit Summoning.

It just took him a little over an hour to return to the Thousand Vows Pavilion. He landed at the edge of the floating island, and that was when he noticed a big group wearing white-blue robes was staying below the floating island.

Bai Jinwei, Duanmu Liang Yi, and Sikong Tan Kai were confronting this group along with their people. He didn’t see the Ice Pavilion.

The group carried a powerful aura, as if telling the people they were strong. They didn’t bother to hide, but it was not killing intent.

Tang Shaoyang glanced down, then he looked at the main building where the portal was. He was this close to getting back home.

’It would be silly if the Thousand Vows Pavilion gets destroyed once I go back.’

He let out a sigh and jumped off the floating island. Of course, that was not the only way to go down. Zara had prepared the small portal, an entrance to the floating island, and it was hidden to ensure that not just anyone could enter the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

He landed next to the three Grandmasters. The three pavilions cupped their hands and bowed toward Tang Shaoyang, ”We greet the Overseer!”

Tang Shaoyang acknowledged the greeting. He gave a quick glance at the unknown group. From their positions, they were led by the old man with a white robe and a man who looked in his forties with a blue robe.

”What happens here?”
