Chapter 2235: Unexpected Gain

Feng Zhan leaned more toward accepting the offer, and he was perplexed, with a mix of surprise, when he heard the two choices. He was surprised when he heard the name of Thousand Vows Pavilion.

The Thousand Vows Pavilion was the first one to leave the Sacred Realm because they disagreed about not using the system. The Thousand Vows Pavilion was the first faction to accept the System and integrate it into their cultivation. That resulted in them growing even more powerful than the others.

At the same time, the Thousand Vows Pavilion became the common enemy of the Sacred Realm. That was when the Orthodox and Unorthodox Factions joined hands to fight the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

Of course, the hidden family and factions didn’t join. They were merely spectators in this grand battle. Despite getting overwhelmed by numbers, the Thousand Vows Pavilion stood strong and repelled every attack. In fact, the Thousand Vows Pavilion expanded its influence and territory.

The war ended without a clear victor, even though the Thousand Vows Pavilion was on top. It ended with the Thousand Vows Pavilion suddenly vanishing overnight. The people disappeared overnight, and the last smart base was destroyed.

It was only later that they found out that the Thousand Vows Pavilion actually occupied a whole new world. The conclusion was that the Thousand Vows Pavilion could win the war, but they chose not to. The way the Thousand Vows Pavilion managed their faction was a bit unique, after all, since they didn’t have one leader.

That was the end of the war, but it left a deep impression on most of the hidden families and factions. But it seemed the history was twisted in the Orthodox and Unorthodox faction’s favor, spreading lies about how they destroyed the Thousand Vows Pavilion. The history got even more muddled and unclear, and it remained that the Thousand Vows Pavilion was one over the Sacred Realm before the Murim Alliance took over.

The Feng Family didn’t keep up with them afterward since the Thousand Vows Pavilion didn’t really involve itself in the Sacred Realm’s affairs anymore. The Thousand Vows Pavilion just became another faction in the God Realm, so they didn’t pay attention to them anymore.

Feng Zhan was surprised to hear the Thousand Vows Pavilion from an outsider. It was unknown what happened to the Thousand Vows Pavilion, but he heard a rumor that the Thousand Vows Pavilion was destroyed along with their world. A lot of cultivators, even players, were looking at what the Thousand Vows Pavilion left behind.

There were not many details about what happened to the Thousand Vows Pavilion. It caught him off guard to hear the name again.

Feng Zhan’s hesitation was crushed by the harsh reality, and he accepted the offer. He began asking what the difference was between joining the Thousand Vows Pavilion and being a direct vassal to the Tang Empire, which taught Tang Shaoyang’s faction.

A direct vassal meant he was standing as a faction that was under the Tang Empire. It didn’t require his faction for tribute, but he must answer every call of the Tang Empire. Especially when it came to the war for the empire. The vassal must participate if they were called for.

As for the benefit, there was not much benefit aside from the empire’s protection. If they wanted to enjoy the empire’s resources, they must pay for them. It was regarded as the same as doing business between factions. The difference was that the empire would give the vassal a fair price.

As for joining the Thousand Vows Pavilion, it meant they became part of the empire. They would be registered under the empire and enjoyed the same benefits as the other members. On top of that, he got to pick a new technique to learn from the Grandmaster Codex. The renowned treasure of the Thousand Vows Pavilion was coveted by many.

It was not that the Feng Family lacked cultivation techniques, but it would be good to have a reference to develop their own technique. The reason why the treasure was coveted by many people, even players who tried to be cultivators.

Feng Zhan started to see more benefit in joining the Thousand Vows Pavilion, even if it meant he would work under the person who destroyed his family directly. However, he determined to bear the sins of his family himself.

”I will join the Thousand Vows Pavilion, but I want you to cooperate with my story.”

Feng Zhan’s request was not that troublesome, as he just wanted Tang Shaoyang to pretend to be their savior, the one who killed the three Heavenly Beasts. Feng Zhan wanted to picture Tang Shaoyang as a savior even though it was the total opposite.

Tang Shaoyang thought Xiyue would protest for accepting the remnant of the Feng Family. Xiyue didn’t care about it, seemingly able to distinguish her revenge from the innocence. The children were innocent, so she didn’t mind having them join the Thousand Vows Pavilion. She didn’t seek the Feng Family’s total destruction after eliminating those responsible for her family’s demise.

Just like that, Tang Shaoyang appeared before the Feng Family’s survivors as their savior. Including the civilians who stayed in the city regarded him as the savior. He thought he didn’t care about this, yet it still left a bad aftertaste.

Under Feng Zhan’s persuasion, the sole True God Realm in the secret realm, they moved out of the secret realm to the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

There were at least thirty thousand people, almost giving Tang Shaoyang a headache until he remembered his wife could move out the floating island. He didn’t have to worry about accommodating the newly migrated thirty thousand people.

While they were labeled as civilians, they were cultivators affiliated with the Feng Family. It could be said that the Thousand Vows Pavilion gained an incredible force.

The remaining process was standard, where the core force of the Feng Family must take an oath and contract, while the rest just needed to sign the contract without the oath.

On the same day, Feng Zhan created Phoenix Pavilion. There was some resistance from the Feng Family survivors who were stationed in the God Realm. The people who gathered information for the Feng Family were Feng Zhan’s direct subordinates.

It was hard for them to accept that, as members of the Feng Family, they had to bow their heads to someone else aside from their family head. Their pride didn’t allow them to do so. Fortunately, Feng Zhan’s influence couldn’t be ignored, as they were persuaded by him.

On that same day, the Thousand Vows Pavilion got its floating island. There was a new island floating next to the original island, bigger than the first one, which quickly garnered attention.

That was not a big deal for Tang Shaoyang. More importantly, he managed to expand the Tang Empire Intelligence Division (TEID). But that needed to wait because Lu An was still in the Trial of God.

The trip was to vent his frustration, yet he got something better instead. Not without a drawback, since the Feng Family might be able to turn their sword against him. He still needed to be careful. If he knew and had the item to cancel the oath, there was a big chance Feng Zhan also knew and might try to obtain a similar item.

It was a double-edged sword, but time was not on his side. He still lacked the Intel of the God Order and the Nirvana Alliance. He needed to find everything about them soon for his plan.
