Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 346: Chapter 346 You Lost

The referee announced the start of prescribing, and the two began to prescribe medicine for the first patient.

This first patient was the middle-aged man.

His diagnosis was: inflammation of the liver, diseases caused by external factors, internal heat caused by mental unease.

The prescriptions of Lin Dong and Gu Lingjun were almost identical, both being medicines for clearing heat and draining fire.

The fundamental ingredients of the medicines prescribed by both were consistent.

Both included ”Drain-Fire Gypsum Rhizoma Anemarrhenae and Trichosanthes, Cassia Seeds Gardenia Powder, Summer Bitter.”

However, each added a few different medicines to their prescriptions.

Gu Lingjun added tonifying medicines, treating the patient while also nurturing the primal energy to address the root cause, emphasizing a slow and thorough treatment.

On the other hand, Lin Dong added a few more purging medicines on top of tonifying medicines. He could also treat the root cause, but the treatment would be faster, although because the medicines were more potent, the reaction would be stronger, causing the patient some pain.

These were the prescriptions for the first patient, written by the two individuals.

Next was the second patient, who was the elder.

The prescriptions for this elder by the two were also similar.

Only the auxiliary medicines differed.

Only this time, things seemed somewhat reversed.

The medicine prescribed by Lin Dong emphasized a gradual progression with a slow medicinal effect and slow manifestation of results.

As for Gu Lingjun, he still emphasized treating the root cause, but this time, the medicine with rapid effects was a bit too potent.

Next came the third patient.

It was a child who was crying at the moment.

Gu Lingjun then buried his head and started writing the prescription.

But Lin Dong didn’t write anything. Instead, he approached the child and began to administer massage.

Meanwhile, he also educated the child’s mother.

”In the future, make sure to keep the child warm. Don’t let him eat cold foods. The reason for his sickness this time is because he ate too much jelly, right? After you go back, remember to massage him like I am doing now, it only needs to be for seven or eight minutes each day. It can enhance his immunity...”

At this moment, something miraculous happened.

The child who had been crying hoarsely and had a runny nose stopped crying after Lin Dong’s massage, and his symptoms almost disappeared; he actually fell asleep in his mother’s arms.

While sleeping, he even revealed a sweet smile.

At this moment, Elder Wang nodded in approval and said to his disciple Gu Lingjun:

”Lingjun, you don’t need to write anymore. You’ve already lost!”

Hearing this from his master Elder Wang, Gu Lingjun trembled and came to a halt.

He was puzzled and asked Elder Wang, ”Master, he hasn’t even prescribed anything yet. How could you determine I’ve lost?”

”And for the previous two patients, our prescriptions were almost the same. Moreover, all of mine treated the root cause. How come I’ve lost?”

Not only he but many outsiders as well appeared confused, not understanding how Gu Lingjun had lost.

Even many insiders were perplexed and also did not understand.

Only people like Elder Wang, Medicine King, and Needle King could discern the superiority.

Elder Wang explained:

”Lingjun, you lost in adaptability!”

”This may have something to do with you always being secluded, studying medicine, and having contact with too few patients.”

”Us practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine value adaptability. In this regard, Lin Dong did very well.”

”Let’s talk about the first patient. He is a middle-aged man, and from the consultation, it’s evident that he is the main breadwinner at home. It’s not hard to tell that he urgently wants his illness to be cured quickly so he can return to work, and he hopes for the cheapest medical expenses possible.”

”Now look at the difference between your prescriptions and Lin Dong’s. Although yours can address the root and has almost no side effects on the patient’s body, the effect is too slow. Moreover, some of the auxiliary medicines you used are not cheap, especially the ginseng, which is too costly for him...”

”Now look at Lin Dong; when he prescribed the medicine, he took all these factors into account. So his prescription is potent, with quick effects, and although the patient will feel some pain while taking the medicine, as a middle-aged man, he can withstand it.”

”And his auxiliary medicines are much cheaper than what you prescribed.”

After Elder Wang finished his explanation, Gu Lingjun had an epiphany.

”So that’s how it is!”

Afterward, Elder Wang continued explaining.

”Regarding the second case, it was an elderly person, and his body could not tolerate such strong medicine as yours. Although your prescription is the most standard one in medical books for treating his type of illness, you did not consider his age.”

”While Lin Dong took this into account, hence he prescribed a medicine that, although slow in effect, would have a longer treatment course.”

”As for the last child, there’s no need to say more.”

”Although he seemed not to have written any prescription, he had already cured the child’s illness with massage and had communicated preventative measures to the mother.”

”That is the best medicine!”

After hearing all this, Gu Lingjun nodded and said:

”Indeed, children are also reluctant to take Chinese medicine. Moreover, Chinese medicine can have certain side effects on children with low immunity.”

With these thoughts, he turned to Lin Dong and said earnestly:

”Lin Dong, I’ve lost this medical competition! I am completely convinced of my defeat!”

Wow!!!

As soon as these words were spoken, there was first a silence over the crowd.

Then, a cheer erupted.
