Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 345: Chapter 345: Is it a Draw?

The medical competition began.

Lin Dong began his contest with the young Tianjiao of medicine, Gu Lingjun, who had replaced Wang Xiuxin.

The content of the contest included diagnosis and prescription!

The patients were selected from the nearby Yaowangtang’s registration system.

Three numbers were randomly drawn, and Lin Dong and Gu Lingjun were to diagnose and prescribe treatment for these three patients.

To ensure fairness, a non-medical person was chosen to draw the numbers.

Everyone nominated Xiao Jiu of the War Department.

Xiao Jiu took the stage to draw the numbers.

The numbers he drew were 3, 26, and 86.

After the three numbers were drawn, a War Department’s car was dispatched to pick the patients up.

Soon, the three patients were brought to the venue.

One of the patients was a middle-aged man who was so frightened by the scene that his legs went weak.

A big man over one meter ninety burst into tears, chokingly saying, ”Good heavens, what serious terminal illness do I have? Why is it so serious? Why are so many people watching?”

He had been waiting at Yaowangtang to see a doctor when he was brought over, and the person who took him said that famous doctors would treat him.

He thought it was quite nice at the time, but he didn’t expect such a big scene, and immediately doubted that he was suffering from some untreatable, rare terminal illness.

Frightened, he broke down in tears.

Passersby hurriedly explained to him.

”Patient, you don’t need to worry. It’s not that you have some terminal illness. The reason there are so many people is because today is the medical competition between the Southern and Northern factions...”

After hearing the explanation, his cries turned to joy. He wasn’t someone who liked to watch the news, so he was unaware of the medical competition between the Southern and Northern factions.

Learning that famous doctors would treat him for free, he immediately said cheerfully:

”Okay, no problem.”

The three patients were brought in front of Lin Dong and Gu Lingjun.

The three patients were the thirty-something middle-aged man, a baby still in swaddles, and an old person.

The referee, seeing a child among the patients, hurriedly asked, ”Should we replace this child with another patient?”

Both Lin Dong and Gu Lingjun shook their heads, ”No need.”

”Then please start your diagnosis now! You have ten minutes for questioning!”

”If you come up with the diagnostic results, please write them on the white paper in front of you. Then submit them!”

As the referee announced the start of the contest, Lin Dong and Gu Lingjun both stepped forward to question and take the pulse of the three patients.

In less than a minute, Lin Dong had already written down his diagnostic results on the prepared slips of paper.

As for Gu Lingjun, he took nearly three minutes!

Seeing this, the crowd couldn’t help but buzz with discussion.

”Lin Dong is faster than Gu Lingjun!”

”What’s the use of being quick? The diagnosis must be correct. If I write randomly, I can do it too.”

”Exactly, they were given ten minutes; as long as it’s not more than this, it’s all the same. It’s like students taking exams, the final grade depends on the answers, not on whether or not you submit your paper early.”

”...”

Amid the crowd, Qiao Xue couldn’t help saying to Qiao Bing, ”Little Bing, it looks like you’re going to lose our bet.”

”Sister, isn’t it a bit too early to say that?” Qiao Bing replied with a smile.

”Lin Dong has started writing nonsense, he’s definitely going to lose this medical competition. He’s about to reveal his true nature, unworthy of his title. Do you think he can continue to be the Leader of the Southern faction?” Qiao Xue spread her hands.

”Haha, sister, that’s not necessarily true. I believe in Lin Dong...”

”Alright, let’s just wait for the results then.”

As they were discussing, amid everyone’s doubts, the referee announced the results.

”Southern Faction Lin Dong, the diagnostic results for all three patients are completely correct!”

”Northern Faction Gu Lingjun, the diagnostic results for all three patients are also completely correct.”

”The diagnosis of the two contestants is completely the same. The first round ends in a tie!”

Upon hearing the results, the crowd erupted once again.

”So Lin Dong actually got the diagnosis correct? Is that for real, or did the referee make a mistake? Lin Dong only spent a minute!”

”How could the referee possibly make a mistake! Now it seems that Lin Dong might really have some skills.”

”He was, after all, once awarded the province’s outstanding doctor, did you really think he had no medical skills at all?”

”They say it’s a tie for the first round, but in reality, shouldn’t Lin Dong be considered slightly superior? He took less time!”

”...”

The crowd buzzed with less skepticism about Lin Dong.

This was after all the Southern Capital, and more than ninety percent of the people who came to watch the medical competition were from the south, hence it was the home ground for the Southern Faction of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

As Southerners, deep down, people naturally leaned towards a victory for the Southern Faction.

Now seeing Lin Dong’s medical skills matching Gu Lingjun’s in the first round, they naturally had more expectations.

”Sister, I told you so, you drew your conclusions too early,” Qiao Bing beamed with pride, speaking to her sister.

Qiao Xue frowned slightly, wondering if she had underestimated Lin Dong. Could he really have medical skills comparable to Gu Lingjun and Wang Xiuxin?

At this moment, the referee continued:

”Contestants, please begin the second test: prescription ability, and start treating these three patients now!”

”You also have ten minutes!”
