Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 518: The Value of the Seed of Great Knowledge

After gaining some inspiration from the Academy Head regarding the construction of a ”firewall” for the Great Tree of Knowledge, I did not continue to disturb the Academy Heads.

As for the information tiers for the Appraisal Spell and the change in the image of the Shadow of Knowledge, I already had some ideas and naturally didn’t need much help from the Academy Head.

However, I was completely clueless about the firewall.

After gaining some insight from the Academy Head, I now had some ideas and could build upon this foundation for my self-protection.

However, at the end, Academy Head Mei had a new suggestion that made my eyes light up: connecting the Tree of Knowledge to the Witch Academy’s Academy Network!

If possible, Academy Head Mei could use her permissions to open the Academy Network’s interface, meaning that if properly managed, my Tree of Knowledge could be used as an Earth Vein Operating System!

This was much more convenient than carrying a portable operating system around.

The Academy Head also introduced me to several tutors who had done in-depth research on the Earth Vein Operating System and gave me their contact information.

Academy Head Mei would help to facilitate the introduction.

I naturally accepted this with pleasure.

If connecting to the Academy Network no longer required the Earth Vein System and a phone, and I could just use the information display projection from the Great Tree of Knowledge, it would be much cooler than those external devices!

Of course, the main thing was convenience—it would be less prone to damage and ready for use anytime.

I remember the Earth Vein Operating System that Teacher Ji Niang gave me was currently gathering dust in my Storage Equipment.

Just turning that thing on took quite an effort, and once on, it was best not to move it, or it could easily lose connection with the Earth Vein.

“I apologize for disturbing the two Academy Heads for so long with this matter. I am now ready to head back.”

Near the end of our conversation, I prepared to take my leave.

The gains from this trip were enormous, even hard to describe.

“It’s fine. It didn’t take long. If you encounter any problems again, you can continue to come here and ask me. I am very happy to resolve your confusion.”

Academy Head Mei said with a smile.

After all, as the Academy Head, ordinary students were not qualified to ask her trivial questions, but now Little Han had appeared like this, and it was a clash of inspirations between Grand Spellbooks.

“Mhm! I will.”

I nodded heavily.

After all, this was a Grand Spellbook.

If I encountered problems and didn’t ask the Academy Head, I really wouldn’t know who to ask.

“Right, Little Han, how many Seeds of Great Knowledge do you have left now?”

Just as I was about to say goodbye and leave, Academy Head Mei suddenly asked.

“Me now? Hmm… probably less than ten left. The condensation process of the Seed of Great Knowledge is a bit slow. I have been continuously optimizing the casting speed, but the consumption of raw materials like memories and information is quite high. Coupled with continuous destructive testing recently, I don’t have many left.”

I rummaged through my things, took out the few remaining ones, and explained.

“Can Little Han give them all to me? I can help you promote them among the faculty. I believe many Transcendent Witches will be interested in this thing. Of course, I won’t take them for free. Little Han, have you decided how to price your Seed of Great Knowledge?”

“Pr-Pricing? There’s no need for that. The Academy Head helping me promote them is already a huge favor; I don’t need to charge anything else.”

I quickly waved my hand.

After all, the Academy Head was going to promote this thing to the Transcendent Witch level!

Then wouldn’t my acquisition of knowledge be even more terrifying?

Why would I charge anything?

I should promote it for free!

I would barely have enough time to rush the production of Seeds of Great Knowledge day and night!

“Pricing is necessary, Little Han. You need to maintain a certain respect for your research achievements. Giving it a suitable value assessment is the greatest respect for it.”

The Academy Head’s tone was slightly serious as she spoke to me, and only then did she slowly explain the reason.

“You need to know that the value of the memory backup, Shadow of Knowledge, and Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell alone is immeasurable. In the Witch Academy, the former two might have substitutes and measurable value, but the third one is a heavyweight. However, considering that you will be sharing the users’ acquired knowledge and memories during this period, which is essentially an indirect value recovery, the pricing right is in your hands. There’s no need to rush, as your pricing should fluctuate when facing different target audiences.”

“I understand…”

“So, have you decided how to price this batch of Seeds of Great Knowledge for me? If not… I can make a recommendation for you. In any case, I won’t let you suffer a loss.”

“Then… I’ll let the Academy Head decide.”

I said.

I ultimately tossed the problem back to the Academy Head.

After all, I truly didn’t have much of a concrete concept for their pricing.

My goal from start to finish was not to earn money during this process.

If I could earn a little, I would naturally be happy, but I couldn’t put the cart before the horse, and this money couldn’t become a stumbling block on my path to promotion.

“I see that Little Han rarely uses any weapons when casting spells. You don’t use a Magic Wand or any other Magical artifact. How about I give you two choices?”

“Weapon?”

I was slightly stunned by the Academy Head’s question.

I usually didn’t have the habit of using a weapon when casting spells.

The Magic Wand I got at the beginning of the school year was still gathering dust.

While I admit that a Magic Wand does significantly enhance my casting, in most situations I encountered, I didn’t need to use a Magic Wand to increase the power or casting speed that little bit.

I was entirely a technique-focused fighter, not reliant on equipment…

However, one thing was that these alchemical items were sometimes indeed very powerful, and… very expensive!

Although I might not use it, since the Academy Head brought it up, I would naturally accept the offer.

“Can the Academy Head elaborate?”

“Of course. For the first option, you can choose a ready-made weapon from my collection of weapons. These weapons even include weapons outside the scope of Alchemical items, ranging from casting Magic Wands to cold weapons. I have collected almost all types.”

“And… what’s the second option?”

I suppressed my inner excitement and continued to ask.

“The other option… I have quite a few precious materials here that have been gathering dust. I can introduce you to one of the academy’s most famous Alchemists to help you customize a weapon or Magical artifact that suits you. Those Alchemists highly value precious materials. I think, given my introduction and these precious materials, she will help.”

“What do you think? Have you decided how to choose? I actually recommend the second option. A customized weapon that suits you is far better than a powerful but unsuitable one.”

The Academy Head offered her suggestion when she saw me looking indecisive.

“Then I’ll follow the Academy Head’s recommendation.”

I said readily.

After all, I didn’t have any immediate plans to acquire a handy weapon, so it was difficult to make a quick decision.

It was better to choose a placeholder for now, and I wouldn’t regret the current decision once I thought it over.

“Then I will reserve and keep the materials for you. I’ll give you the contact information of that Alchemist Witch first. Remember to communicate with her once you’ve decided, okay?”

“Mhm mhm!”

I nodded repeatedly, then entrusted all my Seeds of Great Knowledge to the Academy Head.

These were all my current stock.

“Right, Academy Head, um… I’m curious to ask, even Transcendent Witches… do they need to rely on these things for memory and such?”

After giving away the Seeds of Great Knowledge, a sudden, random question popped into my mind, making me curious.

“Of course, Little Han. What do you imagine Transcendent Witches to be? The boundary of the Transcendent is True Time, not becoming omniscient and omnipotent. If you don’t believe me… ask Academy Head Bev. Ask her what she can do besides fighting and seeking amusement? But she is still a Transcendent Witch.”

Mei Linde was slightly stunned by my question, but she immediately reacted and even used Bev Ailana as an example.

“Why point me out? Do you have a grudge against me?”

Bev Ailana, who was happily chatting with Bai Yu at the moment, looked up resentfully at Mei Linde, feeling helpless at being used as a negative example without being able to refute.

“It’s nothing. I was just praising you in front of Little Han.”

Mei Linde didn’t mind.

As long as it helped Little Han understand, any example would do.

“So, Little Han, do you understand?”

“Mhm.”

I nodded, having no other questions.

I could naturally tell that the Academy Head was trying to demythologize the ”Transcendent” level for me, eliminating any overly strange preconceptions I might have.

“Is Little Han leaving now?”

After I said goodbye to the Academy Head, I went over to Big Sis Bai’s side, and Academy Head Bev also asked.

“Mhm, the matters that brought me here are basically resolved, and I’ve gained far more than expected, so I won’t interrupt the two Academy Heads’ discussion of serious business.”

“No interruption at all. It’s not an urgent matter anyway.”

Academy Head Bev said in a very indifferent tone.

“Little Han, let me ask you, did you really give all your current stock to that person? Didn’t you save any for yourself?”

“Eh? I did give them all away. Does Academy Head Bev need some too?”

I asked curiously.

I didn’t expect the Seed of Great Knowledge to be so popular now.

I had initially thought no one would want it.

“I already have one, but I find it quite fun. I can take a few for my sisters to experience. Little Han, I also contributed to your Grand Spellbook. Little Han wouldn’t be stingy, would you? I know that scarcity makes things valuable, but don’t worry, I will also give you benefits.”

After a bit of convincing, Bev Ailana finally revealed her thoughts.

“Of course. Academy Head Bev’s help back then saved my life. I naturally won’t forget it. However, I really don’t have any stock left now. How about I send some over to you once I’ve condensed more?”

I tentatively asked.

“Sounds good, that’s perfectly fine. Then I’ll trouble Little Han. I won’t let Little Han suffer a loss either. Since that old witch Mei gave you a customized weapon, I’ll give you something more substantial. I don’t have much else, but I have plenty of Spellbooks and Magic Power Sources.”

Bev said this with confidence in her tone.

“I plan to give you a special Spellbook. As for the Magic Power Source… How much Magic Power Source do you think you need? One or two thousand… would that be too petty? I remember old witch Mei seemed to have said that you are no longer limited by the Earth Vein Chains and should be able to exceed the ten thousand Magic Power Source limit, right? How about I round it up to ten thousand for you? After all, Little Han, you’re a Teaching Assistant now. It wouldn’t look good if you had too little Magic Power Source.”

“Wouldn’t that be too much?”

I widened my eyes in surprise.

Giving away so much at once—was she not worthy of being called an Academy Head?

“Is it a lot? The preciousness of the Magic Power Source is relative to students. In fact, for Transcendent Witches, this thing is a cultivation resource that can be continuously acquired. Ten thousand seems like a lot, but for a Transcendent Witch at my level, it’s just a drop in the bucket.”

“And that’s not the main point. The main point is the Spellbook I’m giving you. How should I put it… This is a Spellbook that even I haven’t fully figured out, and it doesn’t fit my style, so I haven’t researched it in depth.”

“Is that so?”

If even the Academy Head hadn’t fully figured it out, it meant the Spellbook’s value far exceeded imagination.

“Mhm, don’t just look at it being a Spellbook with low consumption. Little Han, you should also understand that consumption is not the only standard for measuring a Spellbook’s value, right? I hope you don’t think I’m petty, Academy Head. This Spellbook just gathers dust with me. Maybe it can shine in your hands?”

Bev Ailana said as she took out a Spellbook and handed it to me.

Along with it was a Storage Card, which should contain the Magic Power Source.

“Thank you, Academy Head Bev.”

I immediately thanked her sweetly.

“No need to thank me; it’s a normal transaction. I’ll come find you when I’m free. Remember to save some for me, okay?”

Although Bev Ailana said so, she was clearly delighted by my thanks, the smile on her face unconcealed.

“See you next time Little Han, and… Little Bai, hmph hmph. If you have anything else you want to know, just contact me directly. There’s no need to listen to all that circulating gossip.”

“Thank you. I’ll take Little Han and leave now.”

Big Sis Bai smiled and took me to bid farewell to the two Academy Heads.

After seeing us off, Bev Ailana immediately went to Mei Linde’s side, pulled out a chair, and sat down directly.

“Are the children now this terrifying? Is this the terrifying upper limit of Main World beings?”

“Perhaps, maybe Little Han is special?”

Mei Linde echoed the statement.

“No more talk of Little Han. I need a moment to recover when I think of her. Let’s talk about your mess first. I suddenly feel that the mess you created isn’t so bad anymore.”

“That’s rare. Have you decided how to arrange this Script Node?”

“More or less. The [Transcendent Knowledge] originally arranged for the Script has broken away from the original script. Since those Players are so eager for this thing, we’ll use it as bait. A civilized world that has tasted the flavor of [Transcendent Knowledge] cannot refuse this kind of thing.”

“Heh heh… The bait you’re using is even more ruthless than mine. What are you after?”

“A big gamble: dragging that world down with us. Wasn’t that your idea? We need redundancy. The fusion of that Small World with the Main World is both an attempt and an adventure. You and I both know the fragmented state of the Main World. Having another world as a fallback, while also pushing the Script forward, is pretty good, right? Don’t forget those disgusting Abyssal Demons. They are also part of the Main World now…”
