Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 511: Reciprocal Investment with Lucianne

“What is it? Are you starting to get aesthetic fatigue?”

When Bai Yu saw that I was already showing signs of feeling sleepy, she also stopped what she was about to say, and then asked in a slightly lighthearted tone.

“Hmm... my eyes are a bit blurry…”

I said, pretending to be unable to go on.

Actually, with my current physical quality and memory, it was impossible for me to be made sleepy by something like this, but just as Big Sis Bai said, I was starting to experience aesthetic fatigue.

“Sigh Big Sis Bai, please don’t continue to try to help the shoots grow by pulling them up like this… Hmm, I still feel that this method isn’t quite suitable for me…”

I pleaded.

After all, if learning lacked interest as a driving force, it was truly a bit painful.

Although I genuinely felt it was great at the beginning, as Big Sis Bai continued to explain things to me in this manner, I gradually realized a problem, and that was that Big Sis Bai’s teaching method… had issues.

I didn’t know if it had any problems for others, but for me, there were definitely some issues.

“Not suitable?”

Being told this so suddenly, Big Sis Bai was also stunned for a moment.

“Mhm, it’s not that I think Big Sis Bai teaches badly, but Big Sis Bai, you know I haven’t really attended any regular classes. How about… Big Sis Bai records this knowledge using the Tree of Knowledge, and I’ll take my time with it myself?”

“Alright…”

After thinking for a moment, Big Sis Bai didn’t dwell on it too much, as she also felt that this way seemed a bit too monotonous.

Then Bai Yu placed one hand on her forehead and said, “It really wasn’t right to do such a boring thing here. Alright, alright Big Sis Bai was wrong, let’s go do something else.”

“Mhm, does Big Sis Bai have something she needs to go do? Big Sis Bai is now also an official Witch Academy tutor, so you shouldn’t neglect communication with other tutors, right? Be careful of gossip if you keep spending all your time on me.”

“Heh If I was afraid of that, I wouldn’t have been with you all this time. Little Han, do you have something you need to do yourself?

If that’s the case, then I shouldn’t keep holding you up.”

Big Sis Bai naturally understood the meaning in my words and wasn’t too upset.

“Did I… make it that obvious…”

I said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

“Mhm, you were just short of directly asking for some private space.”

Big Sis Bai pinched my face and said with a smile, “I know we’ve been inseparable these past few days, and you want to have some private space of your own. How could I not agree? If you run into anything, you can call me right away. I won’t hold up your plans any longer.”

“Isn’t Big Sis Bai curious about what I’m going to do?”

Seeing Big Sis Bai turn around so decisively, I couldn’t help but ask.

“Of course I’m curious, but if Little Han doesn’t say anything, I naturally won’t ask.”

Big Sis Bai turned back and said with a smile.

“I plan to go promote the Seed of Knowledge, and… I already have a candidate.”

I said with a laugh, without any hesitation or concealment.

“So it’s this?”

A trace of surprise flashed in Big Sis Bai’s eyes, and then she continued with a smile, “Then I wish you success, but you should also act within your capabilities.”

“Thank you.”

Having received Big Sis Bai’s affirmation, I no longer hesitated.

I had previously seen Lucianne board this yacht, so finding her wouldn’t be difficult.

Big Sis Bai didn’t say anything more at the moment, going directly to the Poolside Bar to order an alcoholic beverage, and then she turned sideways to face my direction, quietly observing my movements.

I didn’t take long to find Lucianne’s whereabouts inside the yacht.

At this moment, she was gathered with the few girls next to her, playing some kind of small game.

Cheerful music surrounded the area.

In the midst of a very lively scene, this small group actually seemed inconspicuous.

“Teacher Little Han, you’re really here!”

As I walked in, one of the girls next to Lucianne noticed my arrival and proactively started talking to me.

“Of course. Isn’t it normal to come over to relax?”

I walked up with a smile, looking at the little game they were playing.

The rules weren’t complicated, and it even felt a bit childish, but it was just the right kind of game to play with friends.

Amidst their enthusiastic invitations and Lucianne’s slightly awkward expression, I also joined them and played along.

After all, I rarely had such opportunities to play with others, and others rarely initiated conversations with me.

Regardless of what these girls’ enthusiastic attempts to pull me in to play were for at the moment, these things perfectly filled some emptiness inside me.

Although the process of playing was bumpy, it was one of the rare instances where I felt joy outside of my relationship with Big Sis Bai.

Indeed, it was quite simple to feel happy when the atmosphere was good.

As the relationship between us gradually grew familiar, they also gradually opened up their curiosity about me, and their conversation topics would intentionally or unintentionally lead towards finding out things about me.

After all, my existence was quite mysterious to students in other classes, or even in the class I was previously in, they didn’t know much about me.

They would naturally and subconsciously develop a curious desire to investigate the unknown, but I wouldn’t tell them everything truthfully.

After all, all of this was just the art of conversation, and I wouldn’t reveal my true feelings to them just because of an enjoyable game.

It wasn’t until they grew tired of playing that they went elsewhere at Lucianne’s suggestion.

“Speak. You came looking for me, didn’t you? What is it?”

Seeing that they had all left, Lucianne also withdrew her earlier smile, turned her head, and asked me.

“That direct? Are you that certain I came to you for something?”

I counter-asked with a smile.

“Although I haven’t interacted with you much, you don’t seem like the type to come here and waste time for no reason. Moreover… your social skills are really terrible… If those few hadn’t considered that you’re a Teaching Assistant, they wouldn’t have played with you.”

“So… I’m that bad…”

Suddenly being told this by Lucianne, I became a little silent.

I really hadn’t paid much attention to those details just now; I had even thought I was getting along well with those girls.

I didn’t expect them to see me that way?

“You don’t need to worry too much. It’s mostly like this among girls. You’re not part of their small clique, and your cognitions and three views don’t align with theirs, so they will show a certain degree of exclusiveness. Just now, they wanted to curry favor with you first, but it seems you didn’t give them a chance.”

Lucianne explained.

“So that’s how it is? That’s far too complicated. If interacting with people is this complex, I’d rather be alone and quiet.”

“You inherently have the capital to be this willful, so how you choose is naturally up to you, but I can’t be like that… Let’s be direct. Do you need me for something?”

Lucianne didn’t waste any more words.

After getting up, she walked toward the bar not far away.

“Do you believe me if I say I’ve brought you a benefit?”

I gave a soft chuckle and followed her.

Lucianne was right; no one was perfect.

I didn’t have great socializing skills, but I did have the power to be willful.

“Benefit? I don’t believe in pie falling from the sky. Just tell me directly. What exactly is the matter that could make you spend so much time idling here? By the looks of it, it shouldn’t be a small thing.”

Lucianne took a sip of a pre-mixed drink she had accepted and looked at me, asking.

“Alright, alright, then I’ll be direct. I want to invite you to help me test something, or rather, it should be a spell.”

“Testing a spell?”

Lucianne was startled.

She genuinely hadn’t expected the other party to seek her out for this.

“Why? Why me?”

“I just thought you were the most suitable person.”

I said with a light laugh.

Then, I snapped my fingers, and a Soundproof Spell enveloped the small area around Lucianne and me.

“I’ll ask you a question. If there was a spell that could allow you to achieve photographic memory, would you be willing to try it?”

“Photographic memory!”

Lucianne’s eyes instantly widened.

She was a little surprised and a little taken aback.

She had once fantasized about such a spell, but it was impractical.

Even the Wan Shi Wu Club didn’t have such a convenient spell to simply enhance memory for her.

“It looks like you’re tempted.”

Seeing her reaction, I was quite satisfied.

It seemed that she might become one of my promotion targets, and the next step was to see what her requirements were.

“Yes, who wouldn’t be tempted by this kind of ability?”

Lucianne pouted and said, “Do you have this type of Spellbook?”

“I do have this type of Spellbook, but what I’m talking to you about isn’t that Spellbook, but something else. Lucianne, do you remember the spell I cast on you during the joint exam, the one called Shadow of Knowledge?”

“Of course I remember.”

Lucianne nodded.

The effect of that spell was extremely heaven-defying.

Aside from often making her question life whenever it spoke back to her, it basically had no other flaws.

“Is there any connection between that and this?”

“Introducing it to you bit by bit seems a bit too slow. Let me show you something. Don’t rush to question it; patiently finish reading, and then you can ask me your questions.”

As I spoke, I waved my hand, and a panel with a relatively simple UI design appeared before Lucianne and me.

Lucianne had already witnessed this move; the Shadow of Knowledge could do this sort of thing, but seeing it again, she still couldn’t help but sigh in wonder.

If a third party had been observing at this moment, they would have found that they couldn’t see anything.

“The thing I want to introduce to you is called the Seed of Knowledge. You can also understand it as an existence similar to a Spellbook. The way to use it is to integrate it into your forehead, which is into the Sea of Consciousness. Its most basic function can help you achieve the level of photographic memory.”

I also gave her a brief introduction from the side, and the information recorded on the information panel I pushed to her was much more extensive than what I said, with many parts recorded in great detail.

After a moment, Lucianne, who had finished reading the information, suddenly raised her head and looked at me, her face full of shock, with a hint of disbelief in her eyes.

“This… how is this possible?”

“Everything is possible in the Transcendent world. Just remember that phrase. So, now the matter has become simpler. The choice is in your hands. What is your choice? Will you accept this benefit?”

I asked with a smile.

“Then what is the price I need to pay?”

Lucianne was finding it a little difficult to choose at this moment, but she finally grit her teeth and asked.

“Price? No, no, no. At the very least, you don’t need to give me anything. The Seed of Knowledge is something I’ve already prepared to promote, but I haven’t reached the level of mass production yet, so I need someone to help me test its effects.”

“So, essentially, there’s still a risk, right?”

Hearing my words, Lucianne quickly calmed down and also figured out a lot of things, but facing such a temptation right in front of her, she still found it hard to resist.

“Doing anything carries risks. Do you think the Magic Power Source and Spellbooks inside you aren’t dangerous? In the outside world, many people avoid them like the plague, but I can give you the most basic guarantee: it won’t kill you.”

“Then… have you had clinical trials? How can you give that kind of guarantee?”

“I was the first experimenter. You wouldn’t think I found some strange experimental product somewhere, would you? This thing is something I shaped with my own hands. I am its initial carrier and the first experimenter. I know everything about it. If you’re still uneasy, there’s also a Transcendent tutor who has tested it, and the effects achieved so far haven’t shown any side effects.”

I explained to Lucianne, “And the information you saw just now was also feedback collected by that tutor through their testing. I think highly of you. I believe you’ll develop it to a brand new level.”

“Then what happens after I help you collect the information? Will you take it away? If I lose it, what will I have left?”

“What are you worried about? Of course, I won’t take it away. From the moment the Seed of Knowledge takes root and sprouts in your Sea of Consciousness, it no longer has any value in being removed, and it will only belong to you alone. I also can’t interfere with it, as it’s not one-of-a-kind.”

“…Really?”

Having said this, it would have been a lie to say Lucianne wasn’t tempted.

She didn’t think the other party would deceive her here, and the fact that a Transcendent tutor had also accepted the testing of this method basically confirmed its stability.

Of course, the more important thing was that she couldn’t refuse the ability to completely back up memory, as well as the Shadow of Knowledge.

Although the Shadow of Knowledge was indeed difficult to get along with during the joint exam, its ability was truly terrifying!

As for the so-called Earth Vein Appraisal Spell mentioned last… she didn’t have much of a concept for it, but she was certainly coveting the first two functions.

“Of course it’s real. If you can’t believe it, couldn’t we sign a Witch’s Contract? If you ultimately refuse, then I can still go find someone else. This is my first time trying to promote it, and the spots in the first batch are just a handful.”

“You don’t need to create anxiety for me. You’ve presented a condition that I can’t refuse. What do you want me to cooperate with you to test?”

Lucianne interrupted me and immediately said.

“It doesn’t need to be that formal. After all, its development can’t be rushed, and I don’t think you can help me much in a short period of time. I only sought you out because I valued your identity as a Child of Destiny. I’m just harboring an expectant curiosity to try and see if any miracle might happen.”

I said, smiling like this, without a hint of politeness in my tone.

I directly belittled the other party verbally, giving them some pressure and the preconceived notion of being undervalued, thereby reducing her inner suspicion while stimulating her competitive spirit and the instinct to prove me wrong.

“Just because of that?!”

Obviously, because of my words, a trace of emotion was stirred up in Lucianne, which was a kind of unconvinced rebuttal.

“Of course. The last time I saw you in the library before the joint exam, you seemed clumsy, so this time you were the first person I thought of. Consider it a casual favor. Just don’t let me suffer a total loss. Do you dare accept this reciprocal investment?”

“Of course I dare! What is there not to dare?”

Lucianne hurriedly said, her tone carrying a hint of impulsiveness.

Seeing the other party get so worked up just like that, a slight smile lifted the corner of my mouth.

Didn’t that settle it?
