Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 300: Abyssal Nightmare

All that could be seen was a field of ruins, a scene of devastation as far as the eye could reach.

The sight here was shocking.

The once magnificent buildings had been destroyed, leaving only crumbling walls and broken remnants, with rubble and debris scattered all over the ground.

In the distance, the dilapidated skyscrapers looked desolate even under the harsh afternoon sun.

The more broken and barren it was here, the more it spoke of its former prosperity.

I stepped on the soft ground, and every step seemed to kick up the yellow sand left after the fires of war.

“This… is the dream state?”

I looked at all this with a bit of bewilderment, somewhat disbelieving that there was such a place in a dream state.

“Big Sis Bai… where is Big Sis Bai?”

I subconsciously looked around.

After not seeing a familiar figure, a hint of panic subconsciously appeared in my eyes.

But the next moment, I quickly pulled myself together and began to check my own condition.

Fortunately, it seemed my own magic power source and spellbooks were still there, unlike last time when I had to face those Nightmares unarmed.

But the next moment, my expression became grim, because I found that the seal on my Great Wisdom Enlightenment Spell… had disappeared.

Although this meant I could now use this grand spellbook, it also meant that this grand spellbook was now exposed.

As long as I encountered an enemy of the transcendent level…

Thinking of this, I slapped myself on the forehead.

What was I thinking?

When facing a transcendent-level enemy, what difference did it make whether I had a grand spellbook or not?

The result would be death without a complete corpse, alright.

However, since the Academy Head said this was a game between the main world and the Abyssal Demons, then this meant that it was at least a relatively fair environment.

Yes… at this moment, there was no longer any distinction between the Witch Academy and the Wizard Academy.

These were all on the side of the main world, at least for me, it was indeed so.

But whether the other academies could put aside this hostile relationship and unite against a common enemy, I couldn’t guarantee.

But for now, it was best to find a relatively safe place.

I looked around.

Otherwise, no one knew what dangers they might encounter.

I hadn’t forgotten that those sleeping people seemed to be having nightmares, so they must have encountered something very terrifying.

But at least for now, it should be… safe, right…

Just as this thought arose in me, a wave of terrifying power came from behind me, accompanied by a hair-raising roar.

The next moment, it was about to pounce.

This sudden danger made me subconsciously react.

But when I turned around to see the source of it all, that ferocious and terrifying monster was right in front of my face.

Faced with this sudden change, a moment of fear washed over me, but then I also reacted… this was a Nightmare…

But in the instant of responding to the danger, the fireball I had conjured in my hand was too late to be withdrawn.

The blazing flames condensed into a huge fireball, and the active fire elements swarmed in like birds returning to their nests.

At this moment, this huge fireball, as tall as me, condensed.

It wasn’t until it left my control that it headed towards that monster.

The fireball, with its terrifying high temperature, pushed away the air in its path and caused a terrifying explosion with the Nightmare.

The protective spell was instantly activated.

The terrifying explosion with its high temperature was even a bit too much for the shield to block.

At this moment, my mind was full of why…

Why?

Was this my Fireball spell?

I was sure I hadn’t modded this Fireball spell in any way.

This was just the most ordinary and convenient Fireball spell I had used in a stress response.

This power…

I looked at the explosion in front of me in disbelief, but in my daze, I also quickly reacted.

Perhaps this was the special effect of this dream state?

Just like last time when I couldn’t perceive the existence of spellbooks, would this place enhance the effect of spells?

It was just a guess, just a guess.

There was a more important matter for me to face right now.

This thing in front of me… was a Nightmare!

Nightmares carried destiny.

If I killed this thing… wouldn’t I have to bear the destiny?

Never before had I wished for this guy not to die so much… please…

I hurried forward to check the situation, but the Nightmare was no longer as terrifying as before, just a black wisp of Nightmare smoke in its initial state.

“Phew… good thing it’s not dead… scared me to death…”

Seeing that this thing hadn’t dissipated, I was completely relieved.

But before I could catch my breath, I watched as this wisp of fog was dissipating…

“Huh? I… I didn’t do anything! Don’t die!”

I looked at the gradually dissipating Nightmare.

In this instant, I felt my whole being was not good.

This was dying before I could even achieve my goal!

But just as I was thinking this sadly, I found that no destiny was attached to me.

“Tsk…”

I stopped my actions and confirmed this fact.

Was I… being played?

I got up and composed myself.

The Nightmare would not die so easily, so what had just happened was just my wishful thinking.

The Nightmare was the memory and cognition of the Fool’s Dream, inherently chaotic and disordered.

It made sense that it fed on human emotions.

Fear… dread… they seemed to be creating this kind of atmosphere.

Because I was afraid it would die in that instant, so it played dead.

So what now?

I looked around.

Everything seemed to be the same, but if the Nightmare wanted to leave so quietly, then it would have to ask if my Spirit Vision could find it.

After searching for a while, I finally found this guy.

Even though it had no form, its existence revealed information that was different from the surrounding environment.

As long as there was this abnormal information, it could be captured and discovered by my Spirit Vision.

“Found you… this clumsy hiding skill is worse than a kindergartener’s.”

I stretched out my hand, and a fireball appeared in my hand.

But with my previous experience, I wouldn’t let the fireball get out of control.

At this moment, the fireball turned into a flame cover and enveloped the Nightmare.

I admitted that the Nightmare had no specific form, but if I bound it with absolute power, how would it deal with it?

Perhaps in reality, I really couldn’t do anything to it, but this was a dream state, just like it.

That was a different matter.

“Little sister, thank you for helping me catch my dinner. May I ask if you can return it to me.”

At this moment, another figure appeared behind me. I quickly turned around and saw a bewitching “girl” who looked like an elf.

She walked from a distance, her aura completely out of place here.

Her fair skin, as white as snow, shimmered with an unknown and mysterious light.

Looking into her eyes was like seeing the Milky Way.

She held up her impressive assets with one hand and placed the index finger of the other hand on the corner of her mouth.

Her bewitching red lips curved into a charming smile at this moment.

Just her appearance alone shook my mind.

“Who are you?”

I quickly reacted and adopted a wary posture.

“Little sister don’t be so wary, I’m not a good person.”

She swayed her slender waist, and the hem of her skirt fluttered with her steps.

With every move, a strange fragrance wafted through the air.

“You are a Nightmare.”

I frowned and confirmed the other party’s identity.

The only existences that could be here, besides the students of the transcendent academies, were no one else.

Besides the Nightmare, there was also… the Nightmare from the Abyssal Demon race!

Damn it… how could this Nightmare be so beautiful?

But I knew that the other party was the culprit who had caused the death of a student in reality, and also the main force in this fight for destiny!

I had run into a troublesome fellow right from the start…

This was a dream state.

The Nightmare traversed between dreams and reality, so it could be said that the dream state was their home ground.

This made me have to focus on dealing with it.

And… I also didn’t know if my spellbook techniques in the dream state could harm the other party.

But theoretically, it should be possible, even if dreams and reality were a clear dividing line.

“Eh? I didn’t expect you to recognize me, little sister. You’re amazing. That’s right, I am indeed a Nightmare. I’ll give you a night of pleasure in your dreams, I will…”

“Get lost, you disgusting thing.”

I rudely interrupted her.

Just listening to what she had just said, I knew what kind of business she was in.

Nightmare… Nightmare… were they so indecent?

But thinking that Nightmares belonged to the Abyssal Demons, it all seemed to make sense…

This reminded me that there was also a Succubus Academy in the main world.

Were this fellow and the succubi good sisters?

One responsible for reality and the other for dreams, a double exploitation…

Who could stand that?

“Oh? Such a disobedient child. Then I’ll let you see the power of a Nightmare.”

“Go to hell.”

I didn’t waste any more words with her and went all out.

This was my first time fighting an unknown enemy, so I naturally had to have a twelve-out-of-ten sense of crisis.

An Evocation Spell attack was just the first wave of probing, and I already felt the pressure.

My worries had come true.

“Little sister’s firepower is so fierce. I wonder if your stamina will satisfy me as much as your strength? Still putting up a futile resistance? But as a Nightmare, the dream state is my home ground!”

“You feed on stamina?”

I frowned and asked.

I didn’t even ask why my spells couldn’t actually hit her, but asked this instead.

“That’s right I can smell the rich stamina on you, it’s practically visible, let me have a taste just one bite.”

The Nightmare rushed towards me at high speed, but I was still constantly attacking her with spells.

Before each spell hit her, her figure would seem to become illusory, and the spell effect would pass through her body.

I didn’t doubt the damage of the spell effects; the previous Nightmare had already tested it for me.

I was just constantly probing and observing to see what method the Nightmare was using to dodge my attacks.

Or was she not a physical entity?

But this was a dream state.

An existence that was not a physical entity in reality was a real existence in a dream!

“It’s useless, your attacks have no effect on me. Everything about you is false. This is a dream, you can’t hit me.”

“You’re lying,” I said firmly.

“Nightmare… you traverse between reality and dreams. You can’t ignore spells, you just dodged them…”

“Eh I was actually seen through but so what… ah!”

Just as the Nightmare was about to show off, an explosion sent her flying.

As she was in a daze, my voice also came.

“Explosion Trap, explodes on contact, zero casting delay, catches you off guard. How do you feel about this move?”

I asked, looking at her disheveled appearance.

“Explosion Trap?”

The Nightmare was also a bit stunned.

She didn’t expect to be defeated so quickly.

How was this possible?

“Traversing between dreams and reality requires you to control it subjectively, right? But as long as it’s subjective control, there will be a reaction delay.”

“Hmph, little sister, I admit you have some tricks, but with just this you still… ah!”

Before she could even compose herself, or even take a few steps, she triggered another Explosion Trap spell effect.

“How about it?”

My one question instantly left her speechless. “Guess again how many Explosion Trap spells I’ve set up? Do you think you can get close to me?”

“You! Don’t be so smug! This is just a cheap trick… just a cheap trick… I’ll let you know what price you have to pay when a Nightmare gets angry! I’ll completely drain you! I’ll suck your stamina dry and drain your soul-substance!”

At this moment, the Nightmare was no longer as bewitching as before, but revealed the true, disgusting essence of the Abyss.

Similarly, her aura also gradually became stronger, and just this awe inspiring presence alone made me feel a palpitation.

An unknown transcendent energy I had never seen before surrounded the Nightmare.

The world around her seemed to be engulfed by that power.

The powerful energy sent out ripples that hit my body, and I subconsciously took a step back.

But the next moment, what I was greeted with was an even more violent rampage of energy.

Everything around me, those ruins, were trembling, as if that Nightmare could tear everything apart with a wave of her hand.

Things had developed to this stage.

I understood that this would be a tough battle.

I felt that every battle I faced seemed to unfold in an unexpected way, to the point that my familiar methods seemed a bit stretched when dealing with various situations.

Perhaps this was what drove me to want to collect more spellbooks and enrich my spell library?

No matter how tricky the spell effect was, there would always be a time to use it.

And I no longer probed, preparing to launch a full-strength attack.

This was only the first Nightmare I had encountered.

If those Nightmares joined forces, I couldn’t even imagine how terrifying the scene would be.

However, at this critical moment, a figure appeared silently, leaping up into the high sky.

The dazzling sunlight was right on that figure.

The other party did not exude any aura, just like an ordinary person, holding a long straight sword, and directly gave that Nightmare a backstab.

“Ah—!”

This was I don’t know how many times this Nightmare had screamed, but this was the most tragic one.

This blow seemed to have pierced into the other party’s very source.

The scream was mixed with a wail, and the pain was tinged with extreme anger.

But when she turned around to look, she saw an indifferent face.

The angry expression turned into terror, and she wanted to escape.

That pressure from a deeper level made this Nightmare understand that she had encountered an enemy she could not reach, and her only thought was to escape.

“Escape? Can you escape?”

The indifferent voice seemed to have pronounced her death.

As the long straight sword was pulled out from her pierced abdomen, it was as if her last bit of life was drawn out.

The entire Nightmare just dissipated into foam in the dream state.

“Big… Big Sis Bai?”

“Little Han, I finally found you…”
