Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 261: Trial Secret Realm Zero and the Infinite Trial

If I wanted to ”get some exercise” and test my own progress, the best choice would naturally be fighting.

The sanctioned fighting in the Witch Academy was naturally in the arena, just like the largest open-air arena used during the Newcomer Competition.

Of course, I also had a better option, such as a secret realm.

I admitted that Renata wasn’t wrong about anything.

For some rare secret realms, one might not even have the qualification to hear about them, let alone enter.

But she couldn’t deny that public secret realms also had good things, could she?

She wouldn’t dare say that either.

Although I had been studying content related to runes all week, it wasn’t like I didn’t look into other things.

For instance, I had also learned about which secret realms were most frequently visited by the academy’s seniors, and which ones were the most popular.

Generally, after enduring three years of courses, everyone would have basically accumulated a certain amount of Magic Power Sources and Spellbooks.

Those who had their own methods or were good students favored by the academy’s resources might be even stronger.

Such students generally liked to go to the Witch Trial Secret Realm.

That’s right, this secret realm was ”Trial Secret Realm 0,” an extra-large secret realm provided by a graduated senior.

It was described as extra-large because its internal space was divided into many sections and was in a stacked state.

Everyone who entered would find themselves in an independent trial space.

Here, various monsters would spawn randomly.

Here, there was only constant fighting until exhaustion.

If it were just this, it wouldn’t be so popular.

The main reason was that one could exit this secret realm at any time, which guaranteed one’s safety during the trial and greatly reduced the cost of death or serious injury.

Moreover, this secret realm was officially supported by the academy.

What did that mean?

It meant the rewards within the secret realm would be provided by the academy, but one shouldn’t expect them to be very good.

But this secret realm would stably produce Magic Power Sources!

This was a good place for students with a certain level of combat ability to start accumulating Magic Power Sources.

The monsters that spawned inside the trial secret realm were called minions, because seniors with slightly higher strength could basically kill them in one hit, but the main issue was the quantity.

The quantity inside ranged from a single one, to ten, a hundred, and sequentially up to ten thousand, coming in batches.

There were five waves of monsters in total, and a corresponding reward could be obtained after each wave was eliminated.

But after each successful wave, there was only one Magic Power Source.

This meant that even the strongest senior could only obtain five Magic Power Sources from a single clear.

This secret realm could be challenged at any time, with no limit on the number of attempts or any other restrictions, only a reward limit.

For each batch, the reward could only be claimed once a week.

Once cleared for the week, it was gone, and one had to wait for the next week.

But even without the Magic Power Source reward, the academy still encouraged students to undergo the trial, just that the reward would be in other forms.

Similar to stone tablets recording special techniques, which one could photograph or take rubbings of.

If not interested, one didn’t have to learn them.

In fact, the academy was already encouraging students to master a technique through this method.

After all, besides learning Transcendent Knowledge and becoming a witch in the academy, the most important thing left was to master a technique.

Actually, when I saw this secret realm, the first people I thought of were those guys in my dorm and my classmates in class.

I didn’t lack these few Magic Power Sources, but they did.

At this moment, most newcomers only had the single Magic Power Source from admission plus the spell solidified in the gifted chest tag, and that was all.

But I still had some reservations, I was afraid they would take the risk and die inside, ending up with a resurrection debt at such a young age.

Although whether they lived or died had nothing to do with me, if I was the one who called on them to do this and they died, there would inevitably be some people who would hold a grudge against me.

I couldn’t be bothered with this kind of trouble, so it was better not to do it.

At most, I would take the few from my dorm to give it a try.

After all, my relationship with them was quite good.

Then, I would have them spread this information, detaching myself from it.

Finally, I would ”unintentionally” learn about it and issue a danger warning in the group chat.

This way, if they still courted death and died, and still blamed me, I could only say: if you’re bad, practice more.

If you can’t afford to die, don’t play.

You should just drop out.

After leaving the library, I planned to experience this secret realm firsthand and freeload some Magic Power Sources along the way.

I didn’t change out of my original ”Yue” identity, as it would save a lot of trouble.

Arriving at the Witch’s Secret Realm Club, I directly got in line as one should.

While waiting in line, I also saw the entrance ticket fee for this trial secret realm.

It was actually one Arcanite Gold coin!

But compared to a Magic Power Source, it seemed worth it.

Although I wasn’t sure about the market price of a Magic Power Source versus an Arcanite Gold coin and which was more expensive, a Magic Power Source should inherently be more expensive than Arcanite Gold.

After all, the internal information of a Magic Power Source that I saw under my Spirit Vision was extremely complex.

The techniques contained within and the endless stream of magic power made its value not low anywhere.

Whereas Arcanite Gold... was just an ultra-expensive metal that could be circulated as currency, and also a transcendent material.

But this was the Witch Academy.

If obtaining Magic Power Sources was not difficult, its price and its value would conversely not align.

And a more critical point was that before becoming a Transcendent Witch, everyone had a limit of ten thousand Magic Power Sources they could possess.

This caused the value of Magic Power Sources to depreciate further among Reserve Witches.

But for the vast majority of students, under normal circumstances, they probably wouldn’t reach ten thousand, so the value of Magic Power Sources was still well-guaranteed.

Even with this trial secret realm that stably produced Magic Power Sources, in ten years, even with ten years of perseverance, I roughly calculated that one could at most obtain two or three thousand Magic Power Sources.

If one had to persist in this matter, very few people could probably do it.

Moreover, after graduation or completion of studies, this secret realm would no longer be available for you to farm.

It wasn’t that you couldn’t enter the secret realm, but that you wouldn’t get Magic Power Sources even if you entered and cleared it.

And by the senior years, the seniors had mastered their own methods and would look down on these five Magic Power Sources a week.

It could be said that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer; there was a huge gulf between senior and junior ordinary students.

And newcomers definitely couldn’t afford the threshold of one Arcanite Gold coin.

Of course, if you had the ability, you could naturally get it, but most newcomers couldn’t.

Judging by the principle that the entry value of a secret realm is directly proportional to its internal danger, this so-called trial secret realm clearly did not conform to such a rule.

It might be because it was being exploited too heavily, so they raised the threshold.

After all, entering a low-threshold secret realm didn’t guarantee any actual benefits, but a high-threshold one was bound to yield benefits.

This was the preciousness of this trial secret realm.

”Stable” output was its greatest value, equivalent to the academy giving out free resources.

As for the issue of the fee threshold, the Witch’s Secret Realm Club also had to be responsible for the maintenance of the secret realm.

They couldn’t possibly lose money on this, right?

“Hello, you’re entering Trial Secret Realm 0, right? We’ve registered you here, you can just go over to the teleportation.”

The senior at the club’s front desk skillfully handled the registration, handed my student card back to me, and didn’t even realize I was Yang Yuehan.

I didn’t know if this was a loophole, or if one couldn’t register with someone else’s student card.

After all, the student card was bound to Earth Vein Information, and this thing was quite metaphysical.

I didn’t want to joke about this.

Arriving at the teleportation formation once again, I had to say, I was very interested in this teleportation.

Moreover, I had also mastered a Teleportation Summoning Spell, but unfortunately, it couldn’t teleport myself.

As the energy in the teleportation formation surged, I felt my body sway, and then, I arrived in a vast world.

However, the sky was filled with dark clouds, the ground was somewhat scorched, and crosses and tombstones could be seen everywhere in the distance.

This was a place similar to a cemetery.

Before I could adapt to the environment here, or even take in the atmosphere, a dry, rotten arm, with only white bones remaining, broke through the earth not far away.

Such an atmosphere, coupled with this bizarre and sudden situation, could really scare someone with little courage.

But I was fine.

After all, I had been to that damn place, the Fallen Land, in the Dream State, which was much scarier than this.

“Skeletons? And the aura of the necrotic undead. This secret realm seems to be connected to the Earth Vein... An endless stream of death power, plus undead skeletons, they are indeed excellent cannon fodder.”

I nodded at this, reluctantly acknowledging the setting of this trial secret realm.

At this moment, that skeleton also climbed out.

Its entire body was indeed nothing but white bones, but even so, it still had a rotten shield and a rusty, corroded sword.

I sent a light Wind Blade Spell over, directly shattering its equipment.

The undead flame in its eye sockets flickered, as if instinctively ”thinking” about what had happened.

But upon seeing me, the other party would only directly identify me as an enemy and run towards me.

I must say, although it was just a skeleton, its running speed was not slow, comparable to an average person’s sprinting speed.

Then, I completely blew it apart with a Fireball.

The shattered white bones couldn’t even be pieced back together.

But immediately following that, ten white-boned arms stretched out from the ground, and their white-boned bodies broke through the earth, kicking up a shower of dirt, but these guys were still easily dealt with by me.

And I also tested the strength of these things.

Based on the calculation that one Fireball can kill a normal person, an ordinary, unmodified Fireball could be tanked once by a skeleton.

But after the explosion, the skeleton would be ”heavily injured.”

Such a skeleton would only need a heavy blow; even a stick could shatter it in one hit.

It could be said that one hit wasn’t enough to kill, but two hits were too wasteful.

The strength threshold for this undead was set too precisely, wasn’t it?

Even I couldn’t help but complain.

But for me, it was no pressure at all.

And next, I witnessed a very spectacular scene: hundreds, and then thousands of skeletons climbing up from the ground.

The sight was simply enough to make one’s scalp tingle!

Of course, the consequence of my scalp tingling was them all turning into shattered bones and severed limbs, lying on the ground for me.

And at this moment, I also felt the pleasure of a summoning spellcaster.

This was the first time I used the High Consumption Spellbook ”Shadow Legion Summoning Spell.”

A consumption of over a hundred magic power units turned into a shadow legion.

Their movements were uniform, as if waiting for my instructions, standing in formation before me.

Watching this large group of the shadow legion directly clashing with the thousands of skeleton undead, this pure slaughter and attrition was indeed an excellent choice for dealing with human wave tactics.

This reminded me of the sea of undead in the Dream State back then.

If I had used this spell at that time, I probably could have suppressed those undead.

The undead at that time were just skeletons, their combat power wasn’t even worthy of shining the shoes of the undead here.

Right now, this shadow legion was crushing these undead, so those undead should have been directly suppressed.

But the only difference was that in the Dream State that time, those undead would resurrect.

However, compared to killing these undead, I was more concerned about the Magic Power Sources I would obtain after completing these few batches.

The way this trial secret realm distributed Magic Power Sources was very convenient.

They appeared directly in front of me and were pushed into my body by a force, without needing anyone else’s help.

It could be said to be very friendly to newcomers who couldn’t interfere with magic power.

But to ordinary newcomers, a Magic Power Source was an invisible energy body.

Unless their Spirit Vision level was high enough to see it, or the Magic Power Source was sealed in a specific container, it couldn’t be seen.

Otherwise, newcomers could only bind their student cards to their phones and check the number of their Magic Power Sources on their phones through the Earth Vein Information.

I had always been able to see them before, and almost thought everyone else could too.

These Magic Power Sources were given so silently, I was afraid the newcomers wouldn’t even feel it.

Based on my current understanding of this secret realm, if it were a newcomer, taking the girls in my dorm as an example, passing the first batch should be very simple for them.

If they were still counter-killed in the first batch, then I feel like they could just drop out of the Witch Academy, right?

The second batch would be difficult.

The main thing limiting them was the problem of Magic Power Sources.

The recovery of one Magic Power Source takes a full day, and no matter how many Magic Power Sources one has, it takes a full day to recover them all.

But they didn’t have many Magic Power Sources, so they couldn’t cast spells continuously.

Without casting spells, they had no combat power...

That being said, the advantages of transformation or summoning spells in farming this kind of secret realm became apparent.

It seemed that the resource support obtained by the class presidents of various classes in the previous competition, where most of the spellbooks were for transformation, was not without reason?

With such means, one could continuously accumulate in the secret realm, getting a step ahead of others.

This was truly convenient.

At this moment, when facing ten thousand undead, the Shadow Legion Summoning Spell felt a bit stretched.

Although each individual in the shadow legion was much stronger than the undead, they were now suppressed in terms of numbers, and severely suppressed at that.

Although they were still continuously killing enemies, they were gradually unable to withstand the massive onslaught.

After all, the shadow legion from this summoning spell was just a spell effect.

Even using a high-consumption summoning spellbook couldn’t pass this trial.

In terms of difficulty, I acknowledged this trial secret realm.

Of course, if I continuously used the Shadow Legion Summoning Spell, I could also pass, but what about my consumption?

It directly consumed over a hundred magic power units.

With such a consumption threshold, which newcomer could possibly get through?

This was tens of thousands of undead.

Even if I used the Protection of the Elemental Spirit, just killing them would make my hands go soft.

Unless I used the Fire Rain Domain, but it wasn’t worth it.

And other spells, including the three derivative spells of my Evocation Spells, their consumption also couldn’t be underestimated.

So, if I didn’t consider consumption, I could solve it very easily.

But when I needed to consider consumption and maximize savings, I fell into a dilemma instead.

Because I didn’t have such a means to clear the map quickly with low consumption.

In the end, under the constant pressure, I still chose the most primitive method of using basic Evocation Spells, mainly to test out the combat memories I had obtained from the Earth Vein Memory.

Of course, I could also try physical arts here, but I hadn’t mastered them yet, only knowing the theory.

To avoid messing up, I still chose a conservative method for the final cleanup.

Until it was all over, my consumption was not small either.

This made me understand that at my current stage, I had some difficulty with wars of attrition and being overwhelmed by numbers.

These were my visible weaknesses now.

But I was very satisfied with the combat techniques.

This was a kind of experience, combat experience, the best techniques summarized over a great deal of time, and I only needed to attune to them a little to make them my own.

After all this was over, I had gotten all five of my Magic Power Sources.

At this moment, an operating interface like the Earth Vein Operating System popped up in front of me.

“Wait... this secret realm... Infinite Trial Mode?”

I looked at the information on it and didn’t start rashly, but instead checked what this meant.

Trial Secret Realm 0 only granted rewards once a week.

If one passed all the trials, the Infinite Trial Mode would be activated.

At that time, undead would continuously pour out until the trial-taker was forced to exit.

And the explanation also specially noted to act within one’s capabilities, and considerately listed the cost of resurrection and the various materials needed, etc.

Besides this Endless Trial, this operating interface also had a function to view leaderboards.

Among them, the leaderboards recorded the clear speed competition ranking and the endless trial quantity ranking.

I subconsciously clicked on the speedrun ranking, and then saw that the person ranked first had a time of less than six seconds!

Six seconds!

What kind of concept was that?

The trial had a total of five batches, with time intervals in between.

Was this like directly carpet-bombing the entire ground?

What level of combat power was this?

Thinking of this, I subconsciously swallowed my saliva.

All my previous confidence disappeared.

Indeed, the Witch Academy was full of hidden talents...

Within six seconds, I couldn’t necessarily clear all five stages.

Even the Fire Rain Domain couldn’t do it.

Although with some effort I could probably do it within ten seconds, I really might not be able to achieve such an extreme time.

I subconsciously swallowed my saliva, closed the leaderboard, and then opened the kill count leaderboard for the infinite trial.

The count here was based on the highest number in a single trial.

And the first page of the front ranks was uniformly in the millions!

This was millions... The first thing I thought of was that thing, the ”Myriad Spellbook”!

But everyone had an upper limit on their Magic Power Sources.

Even calculating with the maximum of ten thousand, killing a million meant that the utilization rate of one point of magic power could reach the extent of killing ten undead on average!

Even with recovery potions, energy-charging alchemical items, and so on, this was still very impressive.

Killing a million... the number alone was intimidating.

Once the Endless Trial began, the only result was being forcibly ejected from the secret realm, with no turning back.

I closed my eyes and pondered for a moment, then opened them, looked at the words ”Endless Trial,” and clicked start without hesitation.

I had ultimately underestimated this trial secret realm.

If the Endless Trial was included, then the number of people who had cleared this secret realm was ”0.”

As expected of Trial Secret Realm 0, it was very suitable for cultivating some things within.

Only this kind of pressure could perhaps bring me new inspiration.
