Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 258: The Bizarre Society of the Witch Academy, the Sorceress Club

“Not all secret realms are open to the public, nor does every secret realm not require qualifications to enter. You understand the value in this, right?”

“Guarding the hen house and stealing the eggs?”

I retorted sarcastically.

“No, no, no, don’t think like that. We wouldn’t do something like that, nor can we. We have all signed contracts. We simply have the privilege of selecting qualified people to enter certain special secret realms… for example, you… or perhaps… Tan Han?”

“I roughly understand…”

Renata had actually made it quite clear.

Some secret realms were very precious, so precious that they had an entry threshold.

However, many people met the threshold, and the secret realm did not select the best, so the choice was in her hands.

“What do you understand?”

Renata asked with a curious look, as if she didn’t care about the time and was willing to spend it all with me, as if she had me completely figured out.

“Then can you be more specific? Which secret realm, what can I obtain, and is it worth a custom-made alchemy item?”

I didn’t answer her question, but asked another one instead.

“What you can obtain is meaningless. It all depends on what you can get. A Magic Power Source spellbook, and other things. I see you are so reluctant to part with your spellbooks, I think you must need this very much, right?”

“Then what about Transcendent techniques?”

I asked.

I really needed these now.

Giving up a chance to customize an alchemy item that I didn’t need in exchange for a chance to obtain Transcendent techniques would be a very worthwhile trade.

“Transcendent techniques? Forgive my impertinence, but what aspect are you referring to? Alchemy techniques, talisman making, formation arts, or forging? This scope is a bit broad, please be more specific.”

“Anything is fine.”

“Anything is fine? Are you being unselective or are you just being too greedy? You’ll be at a disadvantage if you don’t set any conditions, you know.”

“Then let’s start with alchemy.”

I said.

After all, I was still very curious about something like alchemy.

I had also heard many things about alchemy, such as equivalent exchange, transmutation, and so on.

“Your tone is very casual. Are you really not joking with me?”

Seeing me make a decision so rashly, Renata also asked in a half-joking, probing manner.

“I’m not.”

I shook my head and said.

However, Renata had mentioned Tan Han just now, which made me pay close attention.

Tan Han could be said to be the main force in the current script.

Coupled with what Teacher Ji Niang had told me before, that the academy was making some big moves to transfer the destiny that was spread out over the academy to the Child of Destiny.

It was hard for me not to connect these things.

“Let me make a bold guess. Did the academy propose opening a large-scale secret realm to gather newcomers for exploration?”

“Oh? My, my… it seems I’ve underestimated your information-gathering ability. But you only guessed one point right. This point was indeed proposed by the academy. Since you’ve guessed it, then I can’t say much more… another day without making a profit.”

Renata looked troubled, as if she was really upset about not making any extra money.

“Is it really okay to say this in front of me?”

“Of course it’s fine. Since our conversation has reached this point, then I’ll also show my sincerity. There’s no reserved spot for you in this secret realm. I don’t know why, even though you were first in the exchange competition, and are now recognized as the strongest newcomer, with the title of Calamity Witch… but the academy didn’t reserve a spot for you.”

At the end, Renata’s voice dropped very low.

“Perhaps you’ve offended someone, or for some other reason. Since you’re so outstanding, maybe you can go ask your teacher.”

“No need.”

I shook my head.

When she revealed to me that there were reserved spots for this thing, and that I didn’t have one, I roughly knew what kind of mechanism this was.

If nothing unexpected happened, everything would proceed according to the script.

This was something related to the script, so the important characters naturally had to be present.

And I was a secondary character.

I couldn’t be accommodated just because I was outstanding.

If I was outstanding, I might even ruin this grand play prepared for the distribution of destiny.

I was the most unstable factor, a point I saw very clearly.

Even if Teacher Ji Niang didn’t stop me from participating, if I subjectively wanted to participate, I would need to pay a corresponding price.

This was equivalent to dissuading me in a roundabout way.

“Alright… then your decision is…”

“Of course I’m not going. That’s not something I can get involved in. I have many other things to do.”

“Eh?”

At my answer, Renata went from being completely confident to being astonished.

The development of events seemed a bit unexpected.

Shouldn’t a normal person be very angry after learning that they were being isolated and treated differently by the academy?

Then run back to question their teacher, or call them directly.

Protecting one’s interests is the most basic logical behavior of a person.

If a person shows no desire to obtain or protect their interests, then that person is either a fool, or the person who thinks that person is a fool is a fool.

Renata didn’t think she was a fool, but it was obvious that the other person wasn’t either.

Where did things go wrong?

She had picked today to find Yang Yuehan because she had anticipated this situation.

The other person should have been at their happiest, having just received their rewards.

Bringing her such bad news should have provoked her emotions even more.

Could it be that the other person was already a veteran who could control their own emotions?

But… the other person was just a newcomer!

“In that case, then I think we have nothing more to say.”

“Wait! Aren’t you going to do something? Or are you planning to go back and question them? You won’t get any results. You can confirm it now, and I am your only chance!”

“You’re flustered.”

A single sentence from me instantly silenced Renata.

“Hehe… sorry, I ended up getting a lecture from you.”

After coming to her senses, Renata composed herself and returned to her original demeanor.

“In that case, then I can only say that our negotiation has failed. What a real pity.”

“It’s not that much of a pity,” I said.

“But wait a moment, I have something else I want to warn you about.”

“Warn me? What… are you planning to threaten me?”

I stopped in my tracks and turned to look at Renata.

“Don’t think so badly of me. I’m just a graduated senior who only wants to be a lazy bum every day with resources rolling in. I just want you to be careful. In the future, you’ll be coveted by even more people. At the same time, once the academy’s attitude of not valuing you spreads, your situation might become even more precarious. Also… be careful of the Sorceress Club.”

“The Sorceress Club? Why?”

I listened to Renata’s words.

Hearing that she was giving well-intentioned advice, I naturally wouldn’t be impatient.

“Hehe, you don’t know? That’s all I’m going to say. If you want to know why, you can search for it yourself. It’ll be much more detailed than me just telling you.”

“Thank you.”

I gave a simple word of thanks and prepared to leave again.

After all, I had no reason to stay.

However, I also took out my phone and searched for the Sorceress Club.

Since Renata told me to be careful, then they were definitely a threat to me.

Could it be that… they just don’t like me…

When I searched for the Sorceress Club on the academy network, the first result I saw was an introduction.

The establishment of the Sorceress Club could be traced back to a long time ago.

It was considered a legacy club.

This club specifically recruited newcomers who were tricked into joining the Witch Academy.

And they were people who held resentment towards the Witch Academy.

Initially, this club wasn’t a club, but just a group.

Those who were tricked into the Witch Academy and were unwilling to accept their fate gathered together to resist.

And the first president, the leader, was originally admitted to the Wizard Academy.

She did not acknowledge her identity as a witch, but she had to admit that she had become a ”girl.”

So, after the initial period of adaptation, she began to resist.

She no longer considered herself a witch, but instead began to aim for her original goal, the Wizard Academy, calling herself a sorceress.

They started causing trouble in the Witch Academy, and their most prominent feature was not attending classes, not choosing a mentor, not taking exams, and so on.

They were constantly testing the bottom line of the Witch Academy, and eventually found that those Transcendent Witch teachers didn’t care about them at all, so they became even more unbridled.

Even though they verbally denied their identity as witches, the academy had already registered them.

Later, someone, it is not known who, registered the Sorceress Club in the Witch Academy under the name of that self-proclaimed sorceress leader… and then this club was established.

It was very dramatic, but also somewhat reasonable.

But if I had to say, it was because they were idle, and the teachers didn’t care.

The Sorceress Club has been passed down to this day.

Although I don’t know if it has changed its nature, not attending classes has become a tradition.

Even if they don’t acknowledge their identity as witches, they have been around for so long and have a lot of inherited resources.

After all, they do all sorts of evil things, so robbing spellbooks is definitely their main source of obtaining them…

After all, they voluntarily gave up their identity as witches, so naturally they wouldn’t receive any resources from the academy, unless they were shameless or something.

And I also saw some bizarre rumors about the Sorceress Club on the academy network, such as ”I am not a witch does not mean I will not take the academy’s resources.”

Indeed, the Sorceress Club is constantly innovating…

I kind of understand why Renata told me to be careful now.

In the eyes of the Sorceress Club, I’m probably a fat sheep, right?

I already had one, and with the first-place prize from this time, a Super Consumption Spellbook, I now have two.

This is a foundation-level spellbook, how could they not be jealous?

And I also saw many incidents of past newcomers being bullied by the Sorceress Club.

However, the Sorceress Club’s status in the Witch Academy is very awkward, basically like a rat crossing the street.

The higher the grade of the senior, the more they despise it.

There were even cases where when the Sorceress Club bullied newcomers, many seniors were willing to help.

After all, helping newcomers is a great way to strike up a conversation.

Just as I was scrolling down with interest, I suddenly saw a familiar figure.

Tan Han!

And the figures of Minian and the others.

“Tan Han and the others… were attacked by the Sorceress Club… but were counter-killed… hehe, they went after Tan Han so quickly?”

I shook my head and smiled.

They couldn’t find me, so they went to find Tan Han.

Of course, it could also be that the troublemaking aura of the Child of Destiny was starting to work.

But it’s good that Tan Han taught them a lesson.

And I’m also glad that I’ve been keeping a low profile these past few days.

Either I changed my identity or went to the secret realm, or I was cooped up in the villa.

But seeing that they were all dealt with by the Disciplinary Squad patrolling the sky, I was relieved.

Since they have already sounded the alarm, the maintenance efforts will be greatly strengthened, and the Sorceress Club will also become more low-key.

Looking at those self-proclaimed sorceresses who were caught, I couldn’t help but marvel at the biodiversity of the Witch Academy.

However, in the future, it’s best if I don’t stay outside for too long.

I should ride my broom when I go out.

At least I can run faster that way.

Maybe those sorceresses, since they don’t admit they are witches, don’t even go to get a flying license?

I smiled, shook my head, and left the hotel…

Looking back at this place, I probably won’t want to come here again in the future.

This place is not for me.

I find that I’m always influenced by my environment.

Just like in a dream state, I would subconsciously act without restraint, but here, I feel depressed.

But today I got a free meal and some information.

The only pity is that I didn’t find a secret realm I liked.

Similarly, this also gave me a new understanding of the value of the things I possess.

The opportunity to customize an alchemy item is also very important.

I should hurry back.

Actually, there’s one more thing I want to do quickly, and that is to use the Earth Vein Memories.

Out of the thousand pieces, only three were left after my screening.

This was naturally after my strict control.

Similarly, I also deliberately selected some memories suitable for the others in the dormitory.

For example, for Dongli Yiren, the vast memory of a planter cultivating Transcendent plants.

For Hong Chenyi, a complex combat memory, hoping she can learn a little bit to make up for the regret of not having real combat experience.

Didn’t she say she wanted to go to the secret realm with me?

It’s better not to go without some skills.

And the three pieces I kept for myself were naturally the best and most complete memories.

One of them was a memory formed by alchemy techniques.

This was why I said alchemy when Renata asked me what kind of techniques I wanted earlier.

And the second one was about a technique related to ”physical arts.”

At first, I didn’t pay much attention to it, but I took it seriously after a second screening.

This was a physical arts technique on par with spell techniques.

This was a kind of physical arts training that used Transcendent power, different from spells.

It directly acted on oneself, and it was not a spell effect like a body strengthening spell, but a permanent enhancement of one’s constitution.

And what I was more concerned about was the technique of using Transcendent power in this kind of physical arts.

This was not like spells where mental power controlled Transcendent energy, or where spell effects were driven by spells and rituals.

It was a means of controlling the Transcendent that relied purely on the body and a term specific to physical arts, ”mental realm.”

This opened up a new line of thought for me, a pure concept for the art of combat.

Physical arts, a technique that exists for combat and killing.

Indeed, in the world of the Transcendent, anything is possible… so I must go and learn this physical arts.

And the content of the third Earth Vein Memory was very conventional: practical combat skills.

It was a more complete and more skillful and beautiful memory than the one I prepared to give to Hong Chenyi.

And it also contained more detailed personal insights and so on, which were received very completely by the earth vein.

It could be said that although this was a very ordinary and unremarkable memory, it was the most perfect memory.

“I’m back.”

I didn’t encounter any danger on the way back.

After returning to the dormitory, I realized they weren’t in the living room.

They probably all had their own things to do.

It’s just a pity that I couldn’t give these things to them in person.

I asked in the dormitory group chat, and in the end, only Guan Qiuling replied that she was in her own bedroom.

After all, I did come back much later than before this time.

If Renata hadn’t called me away, I wouldn’t have eaten so late.

I should think about other things.

Tomorrow I still have to go to Teacher Ji Niang’s place to perfect my final Memory Bookshelf spellbook.
