Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 287: The Means of Destiny Transfer Arranged in the Dream State

“Little Han, what brings you here?”

At the office 8405 of the teaching building, Ji Niang asked upon seeing the figure appear at the door.

She had originally wanted to conduct research on the Grand Spellbook.

Even though she knew her foundation was shallow and the probability of success was not high, the Academy Head’s success this time gave her immense confidence.

This was the first time she had witnessed the birth of a Grand Spellbook from such a close distance!

So these days, she had been sorting out various related materials.

There was no such thing as too much preparation in the early stages.

Without preparation, if she were to research and search for information at the same time, it would be a huge waste of time.

“Teacher Ji Niang, the dream device you placed in 8401… can I borrow it?”

“Just use it. Why are you telling me? Didn’t I bring it over for you to use?”

“Uh… okay. Um, teacher, you don’t usually use a dream device?”

I quickly nodded, but still asked curiously.

This dream device had been used at the very beginning after Teacher Ji Niang brought it over, and then it had been gathering dust ever since.

Since this thing hadn’t been popularized in the academy, it must be very precious.

“I use it, but not this thing. It’s too troublesome.”

“There’s a more convenient one?”

“Mm, remember when the Academy Head told you before that the Soul Truth Witch found the connection to the dream state within the soul? In the beginning, the dream state required an external device to access, but now it can be simplified into a spell. After becoming a Transcendent Witch, you can learn it at the Witch’s Great Library, or you can directly buy a ready-made spellbook. The Primal Witch has never been stingy with the promotion of the dream state, but it is limited to Transcendent Witches.”

“So I…”

“Don’t even think about it. Just use that dream device peacefully. Isn’t it good to have a comfortable place for you to lie down?”

Ji Niang said in a huff and waved me out of her office door.

“Alright…”

I shrugged at the closed door.

I originally wanted to ask more, but I didn’t even get the chance.

Ever since returning from the Academy Head’s office, Teacher Ji Niang had become visibly busier.

Teacher Ji Niang also rarely spoke in the class group chat.

It seems that Teacher Ji Niang is also preparing for the Grand Spellbook.

I wonder how long Teacher Ji Niang’s passion can last.

Hearing the Academy Head’s time spans of hundreds or thousands of years was truly frightening.

Back to the laboratory.

I activated the dream pod according to the previous method of operating the dream device.

Although the model was different from the one I used before, the operation was the same old thing in a new bottle.

The Academy Head asked me to use the dream device to log into the Primal Dream State, but she didn’t say what I should do next.

Should I wait for the Academy Head to add me as a friend?

I closed my eyes and waited to enter the dream state.

When I felt a strange sensation, I slowly opened my eyes.

It was different from the feeling of entering the dream state for the first time with Teacher Ji Niang, nor was it the pure white public space during the exchange competition.

This was a huge open field, and a smell of blood soaked my nasal cavity in a very unpleasant way.

I subconsciously steadied myself, only to find that I was lying on the ground.

I looked around.

Everything here was like an ancient coliseum, with high walls and stacked seats.

The place I was in was a relatively flat yellow earth ground.

Bloodstains that had soaked into the ground could be seen everywhere.

The entire field was a dark red color, no wonder the smell of blood was so strong.

“This… what is this place?”

Although I was a bit confused at this moment, I knew very well that I had entered a dream state.

Could it be that I was randomly teleported to some strange scene?

I subconsciously checked my spellbook and magic power source.

Even in a dream state, these should be usable, just like during the exchange competition.

But upon checking, I found that there was no trace of any spellbook in my dream body, nor was there a magic power source!

At this moment, I was only left with a slightly stronger physical constitution than before, and nothing else.

Just as I was thinking about whether to log out, a voice suddenly dispelled my thought of logging out.

That voice… seemed to be the Academy Head.

“The outsider has awakened. Let us cheer for her with the highest enthusiasm! This will be the most primitive and bloody wheel battle, until the outsider has exhausted her last bit of strength, and then let us devour her!”

“What?”

I looked at the figure on the high platform, a little unsure of what was happening.

But before I could react, a roar like that of the abyss came, with ”intense” emotions, as if venting, coming from the audience seats.

It was only then that I discovered that the audience seats were already full of people, no… they couldn’t even be called people, just distorted black shadows.

But at this moment, the Academy Head on the high platform did not give me any time to explain.

“It seems our sacrificial offering still needs some time to recognize the situation. Then let’s put shackles on her to calm her down!”

As this command-like tone was spoken, I suddenly felt a weight on my neck.

The cold and hard touch made me realize that my neck was locked by a metal collar.

And the moment it locked onto me, I felt something ”restless.”

With a flash of golden light, the destiny that I had incorporated into my body could no longer converge into a single entity as before.

At this moment, the destiny was splitting apart like silk being drawn from a cocoon.

“This…”

Seeing the strange movement of my destiny, I quickly reacted and looked at the Academy Head.

Was this the so-called destiny transfer that started without telling me?

I subconsciously touched the cold metal collar on my neck.

There seemed to be a strange ritual on it.

This ritual had some kind of interference with destiny, which led to the current situation.

“Look! The outsider’s power has been revealed. Let our brave warriors seize her power!”

At this moment, the Academy Head’s words seemed to have a magical power.

The indistinct figures in the audience let out the loudest roars.

And at this moment, golden threads of destiny began to gradually approach me, weaving a golden battle skirt and weapon in an orderly manner.

I subconsciously reached out and grasped this golden greatsword.

It gave me a very contradictory feeling.

It was very heavy, but I could lift it with one hand, and even wielding it was not a problem.

Just as I was wondering if destiny could be used in this way, a cold metallic friction sound was heard.

It was a passage directly opposite me.

The gate there was opened.

Then a tall figure walked in with heavy steps.

It was a pitch-black figure.

Although the other party had a clear shape, I could tell what it was from the aura emanating from it.

It was a Nightmare!

Are we getting straight to the point?

Or is this the ritual arranged by the Academy Head for me to let the Nightmare share my destiny?

But no matter what, the first Nightmare to appear gave me a heavy blow, sending me and my weapon flying.

I, who had not yet adapted to this fighting style, immediately suffered a great loss.

The battle skirt condensed from destiny also dimmed a little.

I climbed up in a somewhat disheveled state.

It was a good thing I reacted quickly and blocked with the greatsword, but that blow made my hand a little numb.

And at this moment, I felt a sharp pain as if my internal organs were displaced.

Without spells, protective shields, and other means, although this was not the first time I had experienced such pain, it was still just as painful.

It was only at this moment that I clearly realized the fragility of my body.

“Hiss… it hurts… damn it…”

But my fighting instinct still made me understand that there was no time for me to wail and complain.

Even though I knew very well that this was a dream and I wouldn’t really die.

After several solid clashes, I had roughly adapted to this kind of battle, but the price I paid was the injuries on my body.

But the more I fought, the more excited I became.

Because I found that the more I was injured, the more strands of destiny fell into the other party’s body.

I seemed to understand the correct way to be here.

So this was the way to transfer destiny?

What is this?

A ritual to forcibly seize destiny in the form of a duel?

This place seemed to perfectly fit the method of forcibly seizing destiny that Teacher Ji Niang had mentioned: an audience, destiny, a duel, a competition.

The only difference was… neither of the two parties competing for destiny was a holder of a seed of destiny.

I don’t know what method the Academy Head used to fool destiny and the script, but with just such a method, she achieved the desired goal in the dream state with almost zero cost.

And the price to be paid was the injuries and pain I was currently suffering.

In the midst of the battle, my eyes met the Academy Head’s.

She cast a satisfied look at me, but said nothing more to me.

She seemed to be simply playing the role of a… host.

This kind of battle of pure strength and skill allowed me to quickly understand my shortcomings in combat.

Destiny would help me offset my mistakes, and the price was just that destiny would go to the other party.

This feeling was as if destiny was like a decoration attached to me, something that could be freely seized by the other party.

After several rounds of fighting, I finally killed the Nightmare with heavy injuries.

Its huge body fell to the ground with a thud, turning into an formless nightmare, letting out a terrified scream as it was dragged back.

And as this Nightmare dissipated, the destiny it had seized from me also returned…

“Wait…”

I looked in astonishment as the destiny rushed towards me like a swallow returning to its nest.

I understood that the previous injuries were suffered in vain.

“It seems our sacrificial offering is a bit tricky. Then I will let more warriors enter the stage!”

With the appearance of three Nightmares in a row, the scene became intense, absurd, and bizarre.

After figuring out the situation, I no longer hesitated.

Isn’t it just sending myself to death…

Although, even dying in a dream state, I seemed to have never experienced it much.

Although after unhesitatingly going to my death, I appeared again in the center of the coliseum as if I had been resurrected.

But my face was not good.

It was not that the pain of death made me suffer so much, but that the act of actively seeking death did not cause the transfer of destiny.

So… did all of this still need to be slowly superimposed on my pain?

“Not enough! These few are not enough at all! I want to fight all of them!”

I raised my head and shouted towards the Academy Head.

“Oh, look how overconfident she is! She can’t even solve the three in front of her, yet she made a presumptuous attempt to fight all of them. Ask the audience if they agree!”

At this moment, although the audience was making strange roaring sounds, it sounded like a chorus of boos to me.

“Alright…”

At this moment, I also sighed lightly, and then went towards the three Nightmares again.

Having lost spells and other means, the only thing I could rely on now was myself and destiny.

But these alone were enough.

With this arduous battle and several resurrections, I defeated these three Nightmares as if I were cheating.

The lost destiny returned again, but I didn’t care.

“Now, I’ll say it again! I want to fight all of them! With all due respect, your warriors are just a bunch of trash in my eyes. You call me a sacrificial offering with this? You want to devour me? Dream on!”

“In that case, we will grant your wish. I hope your mouth will be as hard as it is now when the time comes!”

……

“Thank you for your hard work.”

Facing the figure lying on the ground, motionless like a corpse, the Academy Head finally removed her mask.

Facing endless slaughter, death, and resurrection, this was an extreme extraction of a person’s energy.

This reminded me of the situation when Tan Han and I fought in the dream state at that time.

Had Tan Han already made such a resolution at that time?

And I could only achieve this step by passively enduring everything.

“It’s nothing… at least… I haven’t… passed out yet…”

Even though this body still had plenty of strength after resurrection, I was so numb that I couldn’t even reach out to support myself.

“You haven’t passed out? I’m starting to wonder what supported you to this point. I originally didn’t intend to disperse all the destiny on you in one go. After all, the destiny on you was born from the exchange competition that brought together dozens of transcendent academies. Your performance was very good.”

“Thank you… but… why? If destiny can be transferred so easily… why would the academy go through so much trouble…”

“You think it’s simple? It’s not simple at all.”

At this moment, Mei Linde half-knelt down, her hand on the iron collar on my neck.

With a click, she took it off.

“It’s not simple at all. First, there’s this. I believe you’ve already noticed that there’s some kind of ritual on it, a ritual that can interfere with destiny. Only by presenting the destiny that is dormant in you in another way can the next step of the plan be carried out.”

“Then… you don’t have a seed of destiny. Although destiny is said to be yours and others can’t just take it away, without a seed of destiny, the threads of destiny on you are like rootless duckweed. There will always be a way to scoop it up and transfer it to others. The script doesn’t care about the transfer of destiny, what it cares about are those who have a seed of destiny.”

“And then there’s… I went through so much trouble, even in a dream state, do you think it was easy?”

“You don’t think the audience was just a false existence in a dream, do you? Those were the sleeping consciousnesses of real people. I pulled them in and made them a part of this destiny transfer ritual.”

“So… those were real people?!”

Hearing the Academy Head’s words, I was suddenly stunned.

I recalled my disheveled state during the battle just now, hysterical, like a madman… so embarrassing…

“What? Don’t worry. Those people won’t remember the specific content of the dream when they wake up, only a blurry picture. You can rest assured about this.”

“Is that so? Good, good…”

After hearing the Academy Head’s words, I was relieved, but before I could finish my sigh of relief, I was stunned by the Academy Head’s next sentence.

“And they, will carry those Nightmares, bear that destiny, and be forced to enter the script. Next, the next event in the script will also happen, which is the Nightmare event. Not only the Witch Academy, but other academies will also be the same. The Children of Destiny will discover the abnormality, investigate the truth, solve the trouble, and obtain destiny. At this point, the Nightmare event ends, the destiny is distributed, and the script enters the next stage. What do you think?”

“This… there are other academies?”

“There has to be some sweet talk, right? It’s just an exchange of benefits. I’ll sell that destiny for a good price. After the complete failure of this exchange competition, they are like ants on a hot pot. No matter how much of a lion’s mouth we open, they will agree.”

“Is… is that so.”

I nodded and said no more.

Sure enough, in the Academy Head’s eyes, destiny was just a resource that could be exchanged?

“Mm, alright, it’s time to go back. Thank you for your hard work today. Oh, by the way, if you don’t want to complicate things further, just don’t get involved in the upcoming Nightmare event.”
