Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 270: Wisdom’s Enlightenment, Fool’s Dream and Nightmare

At this moment, I was looking at the small and cute flower fairy that had slowly fallen into my hands.

Oh no, it should be a Fool’s Dream.

She seemed to be asleep.

The blessing that the flower bud that nurtured her gave her with all its might at the last moment had already caused this entire plant to wither.

The withered hay that was piled up underground here, I now knew why there was so much of it.

No one came here to clean up.

The growth of the plants seemed wild and chaotic, but it had not lost order and priority.

It was as if everything here existed for the huge rock in the center and the flower fairies that grew around it.

There was not a single weed here to compete with them for nutrients.

And I looked at the Fool’s Dream in my hands, small and cute, but completely different from the Fool’s Dream named Yuxi who had passed away before.

So... was this still considered Yuxi’s ”reincarnation”?

I didn’t know.

But there was one thing I was very clear about, and that was the blessing that the plant that nurtured her offered at the end, which turned into a complex combined rune and merged into this little one’s body.

I saw that rune clearly, and it was another rune that I didn’t recognize.

When the Fool’s Dream in my hands began to move, waving its small hands and letting out its first whimper in this world, I then felt the surrounding space tremble.

No… the dreamscape was shattering!

The shattering dreamscape was like glass, peeling off a layer of the world’s filter for us.

When we looked at this place again, everything had changed drastically.

The originally orchid-blue and transparent huge rock had become turbid at this moment.

A dark power like a nightmare was running rampant inside.

The originally dreamlike and beautiful scenery was broken at this moment.

Messy weeds grew here.

The originally vibrant flower fairy plants and flower buds looked listless.

They drooped their proud flower buds towards the ground, as if they had lowered their heads.

And at this moment, the Fool’s Dream in my hands began to cry, its voice seemed to carry sadness.

I pushed aside the dark-colored, mutated and twisted weeds and walked towards the place where we had originally entered.

Logically speaking, we should have left the dreamscape by now, when we walked outside.

A large group of Fool’s Dream had already gathered outside.

The leader was Village Chief Yuhu.

“You… why are you gathered here?”

“Gue… esteemed hero, we are taking Yuxi’s sloughed skin to the ancestral land to let her return to the embrace of the ancestral land.”

At this moment, after seeing the newborn Fool’s Dream in my hands, Yuhu’s address to me had changed.

“Ancestral land?”

I asked doubtfully.

Of course, I wouldn’t act like I knew beforehand.

But to have it confirmed from their mouths that this was the ancestral land, it still made me heave a sigh of relief.

This was the ancestral land, and the place mentioned earlier that could reconstruct the Meditation Method spellbook was here.

So what in that place just now could reconstruct the spellbook?

The first thing I thought of was that huge rock.

“Yes, the ancestral land is the most important place for our Fool’s Dream clan.”

“Then why didn’t you go in?”

I continued to ask curiously.

“I’m sorry… regarding your question, esteemed hero, I can only answer that we cannot actively return to the ancestral land. That would make us return to our initial form.”

Yuhu was explaining to me, but she stopped abruptly here.

She didn’t say what the initial form was.

Perhaps it was similar to the form I had seen before, the one inside that huge rock.

“Hero, please give this newborn child to me. I will let the other Fool’s Dream take care of her. As for other matters, please come with me to my home, and I will explain it to you.”

“Mm.”

I didn’t hesitate and did as she said.

Then, the newborn Fool’s Dream was surrounded by a group of Fool’s Dream, cheering for its birth.

They had just lost a friend before, maybe this was their most simple view on life, death, and birth.

I accompanied Big Sis Bai and followed Yuhu to her huge house.

I didn’t expect Yuhu to be so easy to talk to, and even willing to clear our doubts.

Usually, this kind of thing required a certain amount of trust to be obtained.

If everything was so simple, logically speaking, many seniors should have reached this step, and it would have been recorded in the guides and intelligence.

But many of the things we were encountering now were rarely mentioned in the intelligence.

Perhaps our collection was not detailed, but we were more willing to believe that those seniors were unwilling to reveal it.

There was never a lack of geniuses in the Witch Academy.

“I’m sorry, although you have already agreed to help us through this difficulty, I still have to express my gratitude to you for this. Thank you for bringing a new member to our Fool’s Village. If you have any questions, I can give you the answers I know to clear your doubts.”

“Have you encountered such a thing before?”

After arriving at the village chief’s small house, I didn’t hold back and asked directly.

“Mmm… it has happened, or rather, it happens often. We have become numb to such things.”

“Then the newborn Fool’s Dream, is she still the original… Yuxi?”

I continued to ask.

“That depends on how you define it, hero.”

“Just call me Little Han. Whether it’s hero or guest, these titles still feel strange.”

I said.

“Alright… Little Han, you guests from outside seem to have a special emphasis on death, but for us, it’s just a cycle of life.”

“I understand.”

I nodded, “Then I would like to ask, you said that when you go to the ancestral land, you return to your initial state. What state is that?”

“It’s our original form.”

Yuhu said seriously.

“Alright…”

I felt like I hadn’t asked anything about this result, but Yuhu must have known a lot of things.

It was just that if I didn’t ask, she wouldn’t say it, just like she didn’t mention the ancestral land when she told me about the Meditation Method before.

If she didn’t mention it, she didn’t explain it.

I don’t believe that no senior had ever obtained this information before.

She might have really followed the script and went there, reconstructing the spellbook to obtain information.

Then Yuhu shouldn’t be unaware.

Or was this Yuhu a successor village chief who was unaware of past events?

But she gave me a very ”old” feeling, already in the style of an elder, even if it was out of place with her appearance.

“Then do you know how the nightmare came to be?”

“It was born with us, like maggots clinging to bone, and also the end of our destiny.”

“Born together, are you from the same source?”

I continued to ask.

“Yes.”

When Yuhu’s ”yes” reached my mind, I had roughly constructed the situation of the matter.

They were from the same source.

Reasonably speculating, does that mean that the initial state was a state where the Fool’s Dream and the nightmare were combined?

That is, the mad Yuxi I had seen before, that was their original form.

Plus Yuxi’s somewhat difficult-to-distinguish words before, kill her, she wanted to throw herself into that huge rock, strip the nightmare out, and be born with the shell of a flower fairy.

I noticed that they called Yuxi’s original ”corpse” a ”sloughed skin,” which seemed to imply this.

It was precisely because the flower fairies did not nurture life, but waited for the shell of the Fool’s Dream, that their birth process was so fast.

Finally… there was that blessing…

And the secret of that huge rock.

Did Yuhu know that the huge rock could reconstruct the spellbook?

Or should I ask it this way, has Yuhu also experienced such a cycle?

And how did she become this village chief.

I asked Yuhu these questions one by one, but the answers were somewhat beyond my expectations.

Yuhu had experienced reincarnation, and more than once.

The most crucial thing was that she still remembered all of them.

And how she became this village chief, she said, she had always been the village chief.

Just as I wanted to continue asking and learn some deeper information, Yuhu’s sudden outburst startled both me and Bai Yu.

“Outsider, are you asking too many questions!”

“You… you… I…”

At this moment, a black mist like a nightmare emanated from Yuhu’s body for an instant, but it was quickly suppressed.

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry! I… I’m sorry…”

At this moment, Yuhu looked at a loss, as if she had just come to her senses, and kept apologizing to us.

“It’s okay, but have you also been infected by the nightmare?”

I asked seriously with a frown.

“No… it’s not an infection.”

“Not an infection? But your situation just now was very obvious, right? Are you hiding something from us?”

“The nightmare… sigh… actually, it’s fine to tell you… the nightmare is our cognition, carrying our memories… I… Yuhu, inheriting the position of the village chief of Fool’s Village, I cannot be as naive as them…”

The short and even somewhat out of tune words suddenly revealed another truth, and this truth made my brows furrow even deeper.

It was very similar to my guess, but now it seemed even more troublesome…

“Then just now… does that situation happen often?”

After Yuhu’s explanation, I suddenly became interested in her.

If the Fool’s Dream were incomplete beings, absolutely naive and simple life forms that existed after being stripped of the nightmare, then why was that?

“No… it doesn’t, maybe the questions you just asked were too… sharp… when I said I would answer your questions, I was prepared for such a mutation, but please don’t tell the children in the village this fact.”

When Yuhu said this, there was a plea in her voice.

Although she was already an elder, her thinking was still so simple.

To hand over the initiative to a stranger she had only known for a few days, wasn’t this also a kind of naivety?

“I will naturally promise you.”

“Thank you, thank you very much.”

After getting my promise, she seemed to heave a sigh of relief.

“It’s okay, but your behavior is ultimately a time bomb. Aren’t you afraid of being exposed one day?”

I asked curiously.

“To maintain this, I need to constantly enter the ancestral land for self-reincarnation. Every loss of control is a warning, reminding me that it’s time to reincarnate. Because of this, I often lose my composure in front of the children and show the kind of situation just now, so most of the children are a little afraid of me.”

“Is that so…”

I nodded.

The Fool’s Dream in the village were not simply respectful, but also afraid.

That’s why Yuhu lived alone in an independent house surrounded by a lake.

And her tone was very indifferent, and her emotions were also very cold.

Perhaps she was constantly enduring and suppressing the outbreak of the so-called nightmare.

But even so, I still had a question.

“Wait, since you are preparing to reincarnate, how did you manage not to be completely separated from the nightmare?”

“This… I have to talk about the blessing I received after I was born for the first time.”

“Blessing? That rune?”

“I don’t know what rune it is, but the blessing that every Fool’s Dream receives after birth is different for every Fool’s Dream. And I am the most special one, so only I can be the village chief.”

I continued to learn some other things from Yuhu, but I didn’t dare to ask questions as sharply as before, only asking other questions in a roundabout way.

Having learned this, I probably understood why Yuhu only answered the questions we asked.

Even if she knew some truths, as long as we didn’t ask, she would definitely not say them.

She needed to be responsible for herself and the Fool’s Village.

Although many Fool’s Dream in the village were afraid of her, her role in the Fool’s Village was very large, and she had already become the most indispensable role in the village.

I also knew why she didn’t tell me about the relationship between the ancestral land and the Meditation Method before.

These contents all involved very deep truths, and she didn’t want to touch them actively.

There were so many outsiders, and if she told them over and over again, she would probably have to reincarnate every two or three days.

So she compiled a small booklet to provide us with information.

Her narration to us was all the content recorded in the small booklet.

And I also probably understood what the information left in the spellbook before meant by gaining the trust of the Fool’s Dream.

Actually, it couldn’t be called trust.

Perhaps it was because she knew too much and asked too many questions that Yuhu exposed herself.

As long as she promised her to keep the secret, it would be considered gaining trust.

This way of gaining trust was very absurd.

But at this moment, Yuhu did invite me and Big Sis Bai to accompany her in her reincarnation.

It seemed that this kind of behavior was indeed considered to build trust for the naive Fool’s Dream.

And she wanted to reincarnate and maintain the cognition and memory given to her by the nightmare, clearing the erosion of the nightmare on her pure Fool’s Dream part, and changing to a new body to carry her existence.

And the more crucial step was… she needed our help, she needed the participation of the Meditation Method, so that she could use the blessing to preserve a part of her nightmare.

And because there had been no outsiders recently, Yuhu could not always have the help of outsiders to ”reincarnate.”

So at that time, Yu Miao was entrusted by Yuhu to bring any guest she met to her as soon as possible.

So… to complete this so-called Wisdom’s Enlightenment mission, a certain amount of luck was still needed.

But there was no hurry now.

Even though we had just experienced a dangerous battle, it was not yet dawn.

Yuhu gave us time to go back and sleep for a while, and she also needed to announce to all the Fool’s Dream that she needed to reincarnate again.

Of course, we also asked about the situation of the nightmare attacking the Fool’s Dream again, afraid that such a thing would happen again.

But Yuhu told us not to worry about this, and at the same time we learned a very surprising truth.

The Fool’s Dream should have stayed here and lived on, day after day, without any external cognition or new concepts appearing, so it would not change the ”purity” of the Fool’s Dream.

Outsiders would bring new things, different temptations and cognitions.

When the Fool’s Dream reached the upper limit of their cognition, they would attract the attack of the nightmare, which was unstoppable.

So this was why the nightmare appeared with the arrival of outsiders.

The existence of the Fool’s Dream was the result of external separation.

As time passed, they would instinctively and spontaneously become their original selves.

In the beginning, a large number of seniors poured into the Fool’s Village secret realm, bringing a huge amount of accidents and novel cognitions, so that was also the time when the nightmare was most rampant.

So the decline of the Fool’s Village secret realm, I guessed that there was a high probability that it was the result of the deliberate guidance of the seniors who realized this truth, to reduce the occurrence of such tragedies, and let more capable people come here to try to change the current situation.

And now that fewer people came, the one with the problem became the village chief, Yuhu.

This was really…

For a moment, I didn’t know how to evaluate such behavior.

I could feel their desire to become independent and cognitive beings, but they were originally such chaotic and non-cognitive monsters mixed with nightmares.

Perhaps the nightmare was the price they had to pay to become Fool’s Dream…

And at this moment, the village chief Yuhu in front of me, was she still a Fool’s Dream?

If the truth were to be told, then Yuhu might become an anomaly in the Fool’s Village…

The purer and more naive a creature is, it doesn’t mean that it is purely good.

Just like the moment before they faced death, the next moment of new life could completely break the previous silence and cheer for it.

Yuhu hoped that we would keep the secret, which was also because she had seen through this.

Perhaps not seen through, but… experienced it?

I couldn’t imagine such a thing happening, and Yuhu didn’t explain these things to me, and I didn’t want to take the initiative to ask and stimulate Yuhu.

My EQ would be too low then, really not necessary.

“Then see you later.”

After saying our final goodbyes to Big Sis Bai and Yuhu, everything seemed to have happened a little too smoothly.

“What’s wrong, Little Han? You look like you have something on your mind.”

“Nothing, I just feel that everything is going a little too smoothly.”

“Isn’t being smooth good? A matter with twists and turns, that is…”

Just as Bai Yu was about to say something, a force stopped her.

“I know. Big Sis Bai, don’t say it.”

I naturally knew that Big Sis Bai wanted to say something related to the script.

I didn’t know how that secrecy contract was judged.

It had never happened before.

“But I can’t sleep now either. Let’s just be cautious. How about you accompany me for a walk around the Fool’s Village? The environment here is really beautiful, and the atmosphere is also very good. Don’t you think so, Big Sis Bai?”
